I do get the plethora of systems seeming to be a hurdle so if you just pick the jet you love the pressure of it all turns into the joy of getting to master it. Honestly a lot of the systems translate well to the other jets (the viper and the strike eagle for example.) Oh! And check out TUUVAS, mans uses a controller for all his full fidelity stuff and offers all the control schemes for free to download so you can plug and play now if your wanting to start pre purchasing a hotas. It helps, but you don't need it. Don't tell my girl 😂.

Don't get me started on the inaccuracies with this thing. The radar is wrong (it needs TWS, despite what Gaijin say), the engine is anaemic, and it turns like a boat. Not worth the money at all, which is a shame, as I was tossing up between the F-4 and the F-20.

It's not even that planes aren't worth the price, imo, it's that the gameplay on offer isn't worth the price. I'd pay $75 for a plane I wanted if I could play it in a bigger and more immersive game mode, but the gameplay on offer is more akin to what I'd expect to spend $0.25 on in an arcade.
Man just got done watching a Doc on fighters that never were; The F-20 had the ability to equip 4xAIM7F and 4xAIM120 and not just 2 AIM7F. Makes me sad this Jet is no where near the potential it should've had in the game.
I was waiting for this video as Bo has always shown whether a vehicle is fun over whether it's "good" or "balanced". While it looks like it has its moments, I think I'll give this one a miss until the next sale.

Most of the improvements were done to existing F-5Es the engine it shared with the Hornet. It was cheaper in the long run to just buy a new Hornet than upgrade the F-5E to the F-5G (F-20 was called originally) and then buy a Hornet later anyway. That is what happen they either bought the Hornet or just stuck with the F-5E until they bought the Hornet.
The great irony of making this the $75 premium is that the actual F-20 was designed to be much less expensive than competing planes like the F-16 so that America's more cash-strapped allies could have a competitive fighter they could afford.
The conversation you had early on about whether to buy it or not is very similar to the conversation that went on at DoD and Defense ministries in other parts of the world. Great fighter, massive improvement over the F-5, but...the F-16 and F-15 were already a thing. It didn't help that marketing the F-20 to foreign countries was done strictly through the State Department, who had no interest in selling the F-20 in particular to anyone. After several years, three prototypes, and lots of interest but no buyers, the project was cancelled. Another Northrup project of that era however had a happy ending: the B-2 Spirit. I seriously doubt you'll ever see it War Thunder (pun intended), and if you did, it would be nerfed to hell.
I still remember that shooting range video when they said "we will never add top tier jet premiums" im 99% positive that video is still up. Either way the F20 is beautiful and more people will buy it to strictly bomb with it. I'm almost positive you can't even get a single base with it! Also another Abrams is surprising but more freedom is good. Finally, it was only a matter of time before they added a T80 premium. Since the Click-Bait came I KNEW a T80 premium would come and here it is. Don't be surprised if a Leo 2A5 comes soon too

I wish they’d given the F-4 and F-105 their underwing fuel tanks. The F-4 rarely carried the centerline tank except on long range escort or long distance base to base transfer flights. And an F-105 without those underwing tanks would have run from MiGs and be on its way home while meeting at least one tanker. Really every modern-ish (has an afterburner) jet fighter should have their fuel tanks. It’s kind of dumb to leave them off so many planes. EDIT: And former whale or not there is no way in hell I’m spending $75USD on a pixel plane that’s almost as good as what’s in the Tech Tree. That much money could finish the research and fully spade multiple vehicles.
Frankly, i think the latest update was one of the most mediocre updates. Not many new vehicles and a thousand new premiums, of which most are "top tier"

I think at the very least they should have added a tech tree version of this jet with a better payload. That way I could fly it without paying a small fortune. I’m sick of the last few updates being centered around premiums instead of actual tech tree aircraft.

It uses the engine originally meant for the F/A-18 the F404-GE-100 the Gripen uses the Volvo RM12 a licensed derivative of the F404 series.
Now the F-5E they just added, that thing is awesome

It's a damn shame, I love the F-20 but I can't own it since I would never spend $75 on a single vehicle in a game I barely play anymore.
I wish they’d given the F-4 and F-105 their underwing fuel tanks. The F-4 rarely carried the centerline tank except on long range escort or long distance base to base transfer flights. And an F-105 without those underwing tanks would have run from MiGs and be on its way home while meeting at least one tanker.
Really every modern-ish (has an afterburner) jet fighter should have their fuel tanks. It’s kind of dumb to leave them off so many planes.
EDIT: And former whale or not there is no way in hell I’m spending $75USD on a pixel plane that’s almost as good as what’s in the Tech Tree. That much money could finish the research and fully spade multiple vehicles.
Frankly, i think the latest update was one of the most mediocre updates. Not many new vehicles and a thousand new premiums, of which most are "top tier"
So, BR needs to come down one increment? And then we wait for a 50% off sale?

I think at the very least they should have added a tech tree version of this jet with a better payload. That way I could fly it without paying a small fortune. I’m sick of the last few updates being centered around premiums instead of actual tech tree aircraft.
how do you think the low BR players feel? “you’re welcome little ones, you get a new SPAA….. in the french tech tree……. you wanted that, right?” the game is just being updated purely to keep the high level whales in the game, like Bo, as long as he’s there to buy the new jet and make a video about it, then the update worked.
i wasn't sure whether you missed seeing your missile change targets to the F-104 when it crossed in front or you did see it and was just trying to pretend that didn't happen.
I totally missed it. Once a missile doesnt track I just kinda ignore it.
I think Bo forgot about the US and the Philippines. Also Britain has given many countries an 'Independence day' not just america's july 4th. Also as an Australian I just prefer Britain.
