Micanopy,........ Being a "native Floridian," Raised in a small town just outside Tampa, My sisters and I often did things to keep the time going by after school and chores. How many times did we make up games?, walked in the woods 'cause there was nothing else to do. Cows were fed, farm row's have been hoed, so what seemed like forever back then is a "blink of the eye" now. My wife and I always drive to Micanopy to "get an ice cream," just to get away from the "craziness, and the stress of life. Started going the as a 18 year old with Mr Buck Carlton, who had kin there. He had kin over at Island Grove, where once a year or so he and I would go mow out the cemetery. Always had my ole Bluetick, "Hank" with me, until he passed right in front of the ice cream store, it was a bad day. At the "The Yearling Restaurant, my wife and I would get some food, and listen to Mr. Willie Green play some authentic blues, and sometimes breaking in the middle of a song to ask customer's about how good the food was, which was really one of the reason's to go there. Mr. Willie was just a "decent man." he's no longer with us, but he did leave us a great memory. Of course some of the "famous" movies filmed there were ok, but what cannot be filmed there is the "richness" of good honest friendly folks and a peaceful atmosphere. .I just hope the folks at Micanopy do not get woven into the pace of their surroundings. Micanopy is a "National Treasure."
Hey! That's my Aunt Sandy! I have many fond memories of Micanopy. Spent many, many Summer visits there with Grand Ma and Grand Pa Tyson and Uncle Donald and Aunt Sandy also great Uncle Paul and Aunt Fay when I was a kid. Good times!
Your Aunt is a WEALTH of knowledge and obviously a pillar in the community! We had a great time meeting with her and Cousin Billy. Between the 2 of them we had so many great stories about Micanopy!
I love this little addition to the cast because seeing what you're seeing in your journey is so much fun! I know the work that went into making this video, and it is appreciated. You've set a new bar though....
Glad you liked it! It’s always been the intent and now we’ve got more on the way. You’re not kidding… it’s a lot of work but we’re loving the aspect of showing people and not just telling them. Appreciate you watching, as always!
I was born & raised in Ft. Myers. We went up to Micanopy after I saw your video. We loved the town. We had a coffee at the little lunch cafe (across from the garage). Funny how you ran into someone from Ft. Myers. We were shocked to see I-75 was a few mins from Micanopy. Thanks for all your videos. ❤ 😁
OMG this was so awesome for me because I was born in Ft Myers in 1961 and I can only remember going here once back in the early 80's and I've been saying to my husband that we need to get back there and to a few other small towns in Central Florida. It makes me want to sell here and move there!
We’re so glad you enjoyed it! It probably hasn’t changed much since 1961. The tin roof houses are super charming. Thank you so much for listening. Let us know if you end up visiting and what you thought.
That music is our opening and closing theme music for our podcast show. It’s used on every video we make as it’s our theme music. So sorry you don’t care for it but happy you like the video. It’s such a cute town.

Loved that town when I was growing up in Belleview. Billy, did you ever pitch movie scripts in LA? Great vid.
Thanks for the comment! We loved the town too! Not sure about Billy’s movie pitches?!
That's ok....you looked familiar. God bless ya'll.@@skiptownallstars
They are cousins and they are married? What the HELL?
Yes, they’re cousins… and they might be married… but definitely not to each other. It’s FLORIDA, not West Virginia 😂
This Rap music is so unfitting for this beautiful historic town. Otherwise good video.
