    Here's a quick look at how to install a 12V Outlet or USB Charge point in the stock front location of the new 2018 Ninja 400. Kawasaki has pre-wired the bike for this so most of it is a Plug-N-Play affair. This includes installing the OEM relay kit and an aftermarket outlet. I'll also show you where the accessory wiring for a rear outlet is located.

    In Malaysia, the usb charger outlet is included together when you buy the bike. We also get frame slider,smoked windshield,single seat and radiator cover included by Kawasaki.

      Ok, but how much do they ask for the bike? A USB charger is $15, relay $20, radiator cover $30 (not sure if the smoked windshield is any better than clear).

      @@invenio1978 Its around RM31000 OTR in Malaysia. Its priced around $7500. Tax for vehicle in Malaysia is really high and I was not comparing the price and saying its expensive. Just gave info that it comes together with the bike in Malaysia.

    Good video. Just installed the relay and the outlet on my 2023 Ninja 400KRT. I used the Kawasaki OEM parts, overpriced, but I wanted to make sure they would fit. The instructions that came with the parts said to remove the fairing. I didn't, and followed your video. It would have been easier to reach the parts and wires without the fairing, but I wouldn't have saved any time since the fairing takes time to remove. I was able to reach the screw that holds the plastic plug in the hole by laying on my back and using a long screwdriver to reach up from below. Had to really push on the relay when connecting it to the plastic wiring block connector to get it to seat. Took me about an hour and a half; could do it in 30 minutes now that I know. Thanks for the video.

    • @Redrider2k2
      @Redrider2k2  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The off chance that it goes .2 amps over is not going to hurt anything. The circuit is fused at 5amps. It'll be just fine

    • @smoke05s
      @smoke05s ปีที่แล้ว

      The bike is rated 1.9A at 12 volts.. . . that's 22.8 watts available. The charger provides 2.1 A but at 5 volts which is only consuming 10.5 watts. That means you can run 2 of them full blast easy because that's only 21 watts. And just fyi those dual port chargers rarely deliver the full 2.1 amps at the same time on both ports, its usually 2.1 A total.

    • @Redrider2k2

      Honestly, there would be very little advantage, if any. The Kawasaki relay mounts perfectly but that's not to say that you couldn't find an aftermarket to do the same. I was just in a hurry at the time and didn't feel like searching for one that would work so I bought the OEM part.

    Hello Redrider
    I don't know where my first comment went, so I will write it again :).
    Unfortunately, it is difficult to get this relay in my country with a quick delivery time without having to go to the dealer. So I ordered one on Ebay which has exactly the same specifications as the one for the Ninja 400: Omron relay 27002-1062, 12V, 20A. But it is for other, older Kawasaki bikes: KAWASAKI ZX-6R ZX600G Ninja. Do you know if I can still use it and try if it works without risk of breaking anything? Because I have the feeling that it is really the same relay.
    Thanks for the video!

      Oh I'm sure it will work. The circuits are fuse protected so as long as it plugs into the connector on the bike, you should be fine.

    The two wires from the bike conduct electricity ONLY when the ignition is turned ON, so the battery won't be depleted if one doesn't use a relay, yet, in a response to a commenter, you stated otherwise - how come?

    • @Redrider2k2
      @Redrider2k2  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What? The relay has nothing to do with protecting the battery. I quickly scrolled through comments and I can't find where I said anything like that.
      The wires provided on the bike for the USB outlet are powered by the relay. The relay is powered by the ignition. If you leave out the relay, the outlet will not work without modifying or adding to the bikes wiring.

    Hi, great video! I'm looking to do this on my Ninja 400 but I'm not entirely sure about how to get the bullet connectors on the cables that come with the USB outlet. I'm in the UK and all the USB outlets I can see on Amazon have the wires with the round heads for connecting directly to a battery (for example this one www.amazon.co.uk/Charger-Waterproof-Cigarette-Voltmeter-Motorcycle/dp/B07L42W4Q9). Would I have to strip off the round heads and solder on some bullet connectors (like shown in this video th-cam.com/video/3oBy-jV9ajE/w-d-xo.html)? Or would I be able to purchase cables that would fit to the outlet and have bullet connectors at the other ends?
