    Review was spot on I got a used traeger and was having trouble with the temp going up and down was going to order a few new parts but I decided to look up as much as I could on it glad I did bc you was the first video I found and you called out my issue.i haven't got to use it yet but I can see that as a problem for sure

    Right on- thank you for the insight. I bought one of these a few years ago, but haven't been able to bust it out yet, but plan to this year. Thanks for the heads up about potential moisture loss for low and slow type dishes, that's huge. Great review

    I have this very grill. And your pros/cons/ are spot on. especially when you mention the pellets don't always feed into the Auger , and remain in the hopper. That has caused me to have to restart several times. But the unit does do a great Brisket, just make sure you check every Two hours to ensure its feeding pellets. It also does Burgers quite well......

      @BreakItYourself  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      what was your method for the brisket? The think I love about my kamado joe is that I can do a brisket without wrapping for 14-16 hours and it's amazing and so is the bark. i fear the Traeger won't give me the same bark or worse will dry out the brisket.

    • @stalkev
      @stalkev 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My Brisket was not that large so 10 hrs on the Traeger at 225, then let it rest for an hour in the oven.. It was like butter.... I did not use Butcher paper or foil down the stretch....

    Nice video. Just bought a Bronson 20 and the first issue I noticed was the temp fluctuation. I need to look into the P value so thanks for that. As far as the dry grilling atmosphere, would you recommend adding a water pan on the grill? I've been doing that lately, was wondering if you had a thought??

    • @danieldotter6077
      @danieldotter6077 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s enough moisture in the pellets and is not needed. That said, it can act as a heat sync if you’re having temp swings.

    I'm a big KJ classic user too. Looking at your video because I'm thinking of getting a pellet grill and don't want to spend an arm and a leg but do think this might help with some of the issues I find on my KJ. Unlike you I do lots of grilling high heat and over all my KJ rocks at that but long and slows I find I have a hard time holding temp steady. So I was thinking for those cooks this might be better. I'm retired but still don't like the time of messing around with charcoal all the time - it's time consuming. One day the fire gets up to temp in 15-20 and the next time it takes 35-45 min the same temp that's what really throws me for a loop.

    For brisket sprits beef broth or there is a recipe on their site that states to Smoke for a period of time and foil wrap with beef broth. My brisket came out really good.

      I just bought a used one also....$150 for a 2014 one. How much smoke is there supposed to be? Does is smoke then...not so much...then smoke a bit then not so much? I got a pork butt in there and after the initial start up phase andn the smoke phase, turned it to 275 and it's not really smoking much at all.

      With an exception of the digital thermostat and hot rod, everything is factory original.

    Do you think the Eastwood 22 is comparable or even better than the Junior? I just want more cooking area and more stable temps...

    • @BreakItYourself
      @BreakItYourself  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe i'm looking at the wrong one but it looks to me like the Junior Elite and the Eastwood 22 have the same digital controller. If that's the case then I assume they'll have similar temperature performance. Also, I've seen people add a second level grill rack to the Traeger in different forums

  • @lazor222
    @lazor222 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    If your junior/tailgater/Bronson is still under warranty try calling them and getting the new style Digital Arc controller that is coming with new 2020 tailgaters. I literally just got off the phone with them and they are sending me one for free. Read a couple reports that it works much better, so I'm hopeful!

      Break It Yourself brisket was ok 13lb tried 15HR over night. I built a ghetto auger extension out of cardboard, but hell it worked. Cons: def the temp isn’t constant. Also 10 hrs in my burner overflowed with pellets so it went cold to 90degrees had to pop in the oven. And perform maintenance. I tried doing 180 but I saw temps at 237. Idk I don’t have the app you do. I wish I found it.
