  • Take a look at the innovative features of Traeger's Ironwood Series Wood Fired Pellet Grill in this video review!
    Shop the Ironwood Series Here:www.bbqguys.com/bbq-grills-sm...
    About This Series:
    - The Ironwood series has the convenience of WIFIRE technology. The Traeger app allows you to use your phone to monitor and control your Ironwood grill. This allowed me to smoke a 17lb. Brisket overnight without having to worry about babysitting the grill - I could track the progress on my phone, no matter where I was.
    - The Traeger app even has a collection of recipes to choose from. These recipes are fully compatible with the Ironwood, simply press “cook now” and the app will send the target temps and timer settings for great results on whatever you choose.
    - Traeger’s D2 controller lets you dial in your temperature anywhere between 165F and 500F. Grill, bake, and smoke with the push of a button!
    - For more reliability, the Ironwood series uses an industry first brushless motor to power their variable speed fan and auger.
    - Traeger’s Ironwood series has a super smoke mode, which utilizes its variable speed fan to get the maximum amount of smoke between 165 and 225-degree settings.
    - For maximum smoke circulation, the Ironwood series features Traeger’s innovative downdraft exhaust system. This forces the smoke to exit through these ports at the back of the grill, right near the cooking surface level. This design causes the fan forced smoke and heat to create a vortex around your food before exiting the grill.
    - For added heat retention, the belly and sidewalls of the Ironwood are double walled. This allowed me to smoke the brisket overnight and still have pellets left in the morning.

    • @BBQGuys
      @BBQGuys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Marcel, Randy here. The gauge of the barrel on the Ironwood is 16 gauge. A bit small, but the Timberline is more insulated on the barrel and the door. The Ironwood just has insulation on the sides of the barrel. Traeger makes an insulated blanket for some of there models but not the Ironwood. Thanks for the review. This is a really nice design that looks like it should perform well but I can't imagine it holding up. You typically can find better material quality on grills that cost a lot less. The only stainless steel is on the exterior shelf, that's inexcusable in this price range. I expect grills that cost this much to last 10+ years. I doubt the Ironwood will without replacing most of the internals.

    • @chuck7869
      @chuck7869 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I always laugh at the people who want a "stainless" grill. I fell for one of those "stainless" grills once. Never again. Chances are the "stainless" shelf will be the first thing needing replaced.

    • @plmn93
      @plmn93 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chuck7869 if you buy your stainless grills at Walmart, maybe. My ten year old Napoleon propane grill still has its original stainless grates, flavorizer bars, and burners and there is no corrosion on the exterior stainless or porcelin enameled steel. The fact remains that Traeger's competitors in this price range use better quality materials.

    • @BBQGuys
      @BBQGuys  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are different grades of stainless steel. Most of the grills we carry that use stainless use 304 or 316 (marine grade). These alloys are extremely durable and corrosion-resistant. You won't likely need to replace them for many years.

    Question for all other 885 owners out there. I’ve had mine three weeks ago and have had the smoke in this video maybe twice. I run it with super smoke at 225 using Traeger brand pellets. I talked to Traeger customer service 2 months ago about my dissatisfaction and they said they were sending a new fan to replace the current one. Haven’t seen anything yet and doubt that’s the issue. I’ve tried everything. It produces some smoke when first firing up and that’s about it. Super smoke mode is worthless. I wish it produced smoke. 🙁

      @leonardridenour7475 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Denise Fennell think about this. If you were to bake a apple pie you would wanna use apple wood this giving it even more apple flavor. When baking you have to use a more mild wood. For example I’ve made some pecan desserts using pecan pellets and they turn out really well. But if you use a stronger pellet such as hickory or mesquite for desserts they turn out nasty.

    SO it will sear a steak/burger?

    • @BBQGuys
      @BBQGuys  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can grill burgers certainly. I do not call it a sear because what you will find with Pellet smokers like this without a perforated direct flame tray - the max temp is built to sustain at 500 with the lid closed. So let's say you tried to sear a steak at 500F, I wouldn't want my steak cooked through, so I would typically leave the lid up while I seared. The heat recovery on a pellet grill is not like a gas grill or charcoal grill, so don't expect it to sear super hot with the lid up. If searing is important to you on a pellet grill, I suggest looking at Memphis Grills or Camp Chef with a direct flame cooking option.

    The Prius of grilling/smoking. This thing has no guts or character. How would you feel if your favorite bbq joint started using a "pellet grill"? I for one enjoy the process of smoking. Picking my wood. Chopping it. Starting my fire. Checking my temps. Etc. This takes all the fun out of a time honored tradition. I think I'll stick with my Oklahoma Joe.

    • @BBQGuys

      You are entitled to your opinion. However that being said, pellet grills are a great alternative to the traditional way of smoking. Not many of us city dwellers have a ton of time on our hands unless you’re retired to do traditional smoking. With a pellet grill you can still choose the type of wood you want. Maple, Hickory, Mesquite, Apple, Cherry, Oak, Alder, Pecan. Also, those of us using pellet grills are not burning fossil fuels. That makes us environmentally friendly. Pellets burn clean so there’s no pollution.Hate to brake this to you but pellet grills not only are taking over restaurants, but in bbq completions. Oh by the way, Oklahoma Joe offset smokers are considered to be the Prius of the offset smoking world. Thought I’d throw that in!!!!!

    • @RadRandyBuck
      @RadRandyBuck 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@glennarcher986 Clearly you don't understand the Prius analogy. And as far as my Oklahoma Joe is concerned it's your every man's smoker and it's a great value for what you pay for it. If you were half as smart as you think you are you'd move out of the city and get you one.

    1. Dont know how to cook on a grill or smoker.
    2. Too damn lazy to keep up on the fire with a wood burning grill.
    3. Have more money than brains.
    Just curious. What runs the gadgets such as the auto feed for pellets and the digital thermometer? Electricity? If so this grill is abdolutely worthless in a situation where there is no electricity such as after a hurricane.

      This argument implodes on itself when you put it into perspective with daily life; it's like saying "people who buy cars don't know how to pedal a bike, or are too damn lazy to run miles to get to work, or have more money than brains." Everyone is capable of getting around without a car but convenience plays a huge key as to why we own them. The same thing could be said about owning a treager, everyone is capable of learning how to grill the traditional way, but it's more convenient to have this type of grill.
