Phos screwed up any other non-battle related jobs themselves, not because others thought he/she couldn't do it. When it comes to tasks like the Encyclopidea, we also see that Phos is too much of a brat to accept non-battle related jobs in the beginning of the story. Phos didn't aim for earning the others' respect and to become worthy in their eyes, Phos just wanted to become stronger and fight for their master.
Of Dia, they did expect a fighter, but Dia isn't, hence why they became an idol. Because it was something that suited their personality more. Dia tried to live up to the expectation of a strong diamond and a fighter, but she/he isn't. So Dia kept trying to fullfill a path that wasn't hers/his, which I do think influenced Dia and made her/him more sad and hopeless.

A really cool detail is how compared to all the other gems when dia breaks it's consistently only in one or two specific weak spots, like how on a real diamond you can only break it at certain angles because of how it's formed
Yeah! I thought that was a really cool detail. Even diamonds have weak spots. So it shows that Dia has a lot of depth. That’s why I like them so much.

The truth is she hates Bort sometimes, because Bort is so 'perfect' in her eyes and she can never achieve that power even though they are in the same family (They are both diamonds), in one of the later volumes, she says how she wants to go to a place without Bort because just being around them makes her feel powerless/worthless.

this is the first time I've seen decapitation and isn't weirded out or feel disgusted, probably the only anime that can do this
and i really love how in the anime everything is super bright and colourful while in the manga,, its totally different and it gets darker and darker every ep and ch T_T plus the manga will only publish once a month so we get a total of 12 ch per year T__T

Actually, due to the nature of the shape of diamonds although extreme tough, if cut from a certain angle can shatter it very easily. Thats why Diamond Armor is flawed.

The most stunning thing in the series in both manga and anime is how watching a gem break is so beautiful, the shards light up and shine in a way that demands and captivates your attention, so much so that you feel guilty for thinking their pain is beautiful.

Diamond is just... the best thing I've ever witnessed in anime. I love how realistic the problems are for every Gem, not just Diamond! Like how Yellow is acting like someone they're not in the recent chapters, Phos is going through some serious identity crisis, or how Benito just feels like they don't matter when they're with Neptunite.

The anime is 12 episodes and only covers the first 3 (I believe) volumes. The manga goes much further, so if you want more I definitely reccomend reading it! ^_^

this is my favourite video in the world. i can’t bring to words how much love i have for houseki no kuni, it’s truly something i never expected to feel against an anime/manga. the anime is just so beautiful and on the other hand, manga, a complex and unique story. hnk was my life a yeat ago and it really kept me up and now when i think about it, i feel nostalgia and happiness just knowing im lucky to have seen and enjoyed this **gem**

This was my very first introduction to land of the lustrous and till this day is still one of my favourite amvs. I can’t help but think about this video from time to time

base on my experience 2 years ago when it was new and in only with 3 eps yet, some didnt give it a chance because they think it's an steven universe knock off(which it wasnt because the manga was already there before su even existed, still SU is the reason why i met this anime 😂)so they did not support it, some thought it's going to be like berserk cgi and lastly "CGI", most otakus and weebs dont dig it and i dont know why, thus it is dubbed as the hidden gem of 2017 because of the late small hype from otakus who were convinced, still it became quite known for sometime it even has dozens of opening ost covers but sadly it isnt an anime for people with typical taste or something that non anime watchers would like to hop in and hype it just because "trend", also there arent any anime boys that they would fantasize like daisuki(things and only reason why non anime watchers watch anime)
people who watch houseki no kuni are most likely people who have wide perceptions and point of views, people who love details and people who are captivated by the animations because they gave it a try, thus sadly it didnt became very very known but atleast it's widely known for us otakus and anime lovers, hopefully if it releases another season people would start appreciating it

Because I read manga, I started to hate everyone except phos. Why they are doing it to him? Why only him? Why anyone try to understand and try to help him? Please phos. Don’t pray happiness for them. They are not worth it.
Literally. They all never there to begin with. Only with Antarc that seems to care for Phos even after all gems had turn into lunarians. Antarc was looking for Phos.

@@qeeun5140 Antarc was gone for all those years so I feel like how he feels doesn't really count. He cares about Adamant a lot, so if he was around while all this happened I think he would have sided with the gems on the earth
@@eggs4429 Adamant was the only one who knew how to shape them right? But since he's gone even if new gems come they'll probably only be able to crawl around with those bodies. Also, Phos is extremely unstable right now so even if the loneliness gets to him to the point he would want another gem with him I don't think he can shape the gem like how Adamant did. Oh well, at least a gem will be there I guess. Maybe that alone might calm Phos done a bit.

The funny thing here is:
Diamond is the hardest thingy on earth...
But it's not the toughest.
For example: a water bottle VS glass bottle.
If you try to squeeze them, which one stays in form better? Glass, of course. That means the glass bottle is harder than the water bottle, because the water bottle is easier to shape.
BUT... If you throw them into a wall, which one is gonna break? The glass bottle. That means despite glass being harder than plastic, plastic is tougher than glass.
A diamond is going to break if you smash it with a hammer, but if you rub it against something, it's gonna be a good choise. That's why the use diamonds in drills and stuff; because it's hard. If you made a diamond hammer OR a person, it ain't gonna last long.
