    I'm a Spurs fan. I cannot even begin to explain how perfect of a fit Poch is for the US right now. Both Poch's strengths and weaknesses are well suited to the US. Poch is media savvy and a likeable personality that the US media will enjoy. When he's motivated and really at it, he places his faith in young players and puts his arm around anyone who's struggling and injects them with confidence. He makes so many players better, both young and old. Everyone talks about Kane, Dele Ali, Connor Gallagher and Cole Palmer. But nobody talks about what he did with a player like Moussa Dembele who reminds me a lot of players on this squad. Dembele had all of the talent in the world, but he was failing to reach his potential under other managers. By 27, it looked like he would never meet his potential. Then Poch moved him into the CDM role and did something that made Dembele an absolute monster that worked as hard as anyone to win the ball back while flourishing going forward with his incredible ball skill. He took a silky player and gave him steel.
    This US team is the same as Dembele - skilled and lots of potential but absolutely no steel or confidence. Just think of what he can do with Weston McKennie and Musa.
    Poch's biggest negative is how petulant he can get when he's not happy with the politics at a club. At Spurs, he was extremely frustrated that after everything he had done for Spurs over 5 years with a minimal budget that Daniel Levy insisted on keeping their 3-pronged decision making process on transfers (i.e. majority decides between the Director of Football, Levy and the Manager). At PSG, he was frustrated with Qatari leadership and consistently flirted with other jobs like Man Utd. Chelsea needs no explanation. The good news is that Poch will have no reason to become petulant under the USMNT job. The USMNT will give him full control over key team decisions because of big of a name he is relative to the US job. The fans are in awe of this signing and the American media will love an affable manager who has coached at the highest level on the global stage.

      Same here. Spurs fan. And i agree. Pocho and his particular style is a great fit the US. Pocho typically likes his teams to over achieve through fitness and I think that works right into our US mentality.

      Did he lie about anything he said? Did Greg not establish a culture and dominance domestically with a very young squad, and is there not a plethora of Berhalter slander within the fanbase? If you don't agree then you a part of that crowd he referenced, bc by no means did GB take this team to another level, but he did he establish some positive markers after the team couldn't qualify for the 2018 WC. Listening to TalkSport this morning (in England), they were a bit disappointed that England didn’t get him. That said, the arrogance I’m hearing from some is weird - as though this is some kind of disappointing hire or he’s going to be out of his depth. No this isn’t club management but I’d wager that a guy who could handle a roster with Messi, Mbappé, and Neymar, and operate at some of the biggest clubs in the world, can handle the the USMNT.

      I was also listening to Talk Sports and I heard Alan Brazil a Scotsman saying he was disappointed that England didn't hire Poch. Then on Simon Jordan show he said Poch was a flake and not good enough for England! This is U.S.love for a celebrity all over. They want a manager to develop their players and make them better. England's players are the finished article and just need someone to get them over the line. Didn't Poch loose in the Caraboa Cup final to Liverpool's kids just a few months ago? He even lost in that charity game Soccer Aid , ( if you're in the UK you'll know what I'm talking about) LOL.

    My problem with Mo the Po is that he's good at bringing clubs to the brink but not over it. He's had stars like Kane, Son and Mbappe but were unable to exploit those talents in winning trophies. And international football is not the same as club soccer, but Hayes made the transition so I'm keeping an open mind. Color me hesitantly optimistic.

    Couch coach speaking: good luck to USMNT but Pocchetino is not able to handle the locker room situation or players who think they are stars of the show. Is he able to find players who can play with eachother? Let's wait and see the first 2-3 games.

    Exactly WHO are these fans that are "ENGORGED" about the USMNT not hiring an American or MLS coach? We should want the best coach possible. We should not care where he's from.

      There is some marketing that soccer needs in order for the USA to take the next step but it in involves winning on the field not signs and social media so getting a top coach will help with that

    • @michaelstein7510
      @michaelstein7510 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The marketing of US Soccer certainly leaves a lot to be desired, especially on the men’s side. They do a poor job of marketing the team to causal fans and even kids who play the game at club level but aren’t aware of what the national team is doing. But that shouldn’t be Poch’s job. He just needs to worry about coaching our guys up for 2026.
      Somebody else at the federation needs to step up and do a better job with the marketing and social media. Feels like we had way more content 10 years ago than we do now. Hopefully Matt Crocker and JT Batson can work on fixing that, too.

      Winning is the best marketing tool you can have in ANY sport. Just win baby, and the fans will show up. We don’t need Poch to waste time marketing the team. He’s only got two years.

    You do not know if he is a right person to coach a National team . He is a good club coach where he had his athletes available on full time every day. Coaching The National team is a completely different job, he is going to have very sporadic contact with his athletes .

    I think Malik Tillman is a player who benefits the most. Never really given much of a shot under Berhalter and quite frankly has been better than Reyna at the club level. Tillman has the skill set to be garnering mich more starts and minutes at the 10.

    alexi is going to lose his mind with this guy…they will probably get worse before they get better. first off hes probably going to say omg these guys are not good…then hes going to go to try to get expats to play for us, then hes going to put in tactics. poccetino is the level
    of coach that calls the shots. he doesnt care what alexi thinks because after this he will be offered a job at a top european club. you cant have it all…a coach with pedigree that also feels beholden to the pundits.
