Shaking. Yes! Many people on the autism spectrum naturally shake or flap their hands, etc. because they are overly aware of their bodies in some ways. I hate that it has been stigmatized. People need to feel free to do this any time they want, just like animals feel free. Just think how different the world would be if we were all more accepting of ourselves and others.
I no more than placed my hands on my chest for the butterfly hug than a huge emotional release came...crying and everything. Guess I really needed it! Thank you so much for this video!
I'm new to somatic anything, found this video by chance, did the butterfly hug and immediately started crying - making me think there is value and truth to this approach.
Butterfly was amazing. Not exaggerating. Just learned about this. I'm a water aerobics instructor. Been training on land since I could walk. Live learning new.things and using them in myself. Had 17 yrs of brain damage from neglect abuse( but not physically strangely enough). I'm putting my life back together at 55. I look great, no meds nothing. Now it's time to stay grounded ( somatic) and grow a career so I can live financially. Thanks for this special modality. 🙏
I totally understand. Good for you. I’m in the same boat. We should all row together instead of hitting each other with the oars. We’ll get nowhere and end up more frustrated and hurt. I’m going to try this. My therapist told me that when someone hurts or frustrates me, I should place my hand on my heart, close my eyes and breathe deeply, and ask myself how I can provide for myself with that person may have just taken away. We can’t depend on others to make us whole. This world is full of people enjoying tearing each other apart.
OMG, I am 65 years old, and this has been the story of my life. Procrastination, starting projects I never finish etc etc , all that you said, and now I know why. Very stressful traumatic childhood. Not abusive, but being a sensitive empath that grew up with 2 parents that CONSTANTLY fought, argued, or simply never spoke to each other. This all makes perfect sense. Thank you so much Workout Witch . God bless you for helping so many people.
This is great! I think actually feeling the feeling while doing these is a great way to make them even more powerful. For the first exercise as an example, closing your eyes and imagining how it would feel to have all the love in the world surround you (while doing the movement.)
I just did the first exercise. Within a minute or so I started crying and gulped at the same time. My upper body feels so relaxed like I’m not holding onto anything anymore. It felt like I let go of something?? Truly amazing. I will continue. Thank you for this. I really needed it ❤
Butterfly helped me feel sad not angry and i didnt cry but had tears in my eyes which helped release some sadness and it relaxed me. 😌 thank you so much will definitely do this again.
I appreciate the simple explanation and show of moves! To many others out there can make something seem so difficult when it really isn't. Thank you 🙇🏻♀️
@@TheMovementParadigm I looked through your videos but didn't find what I was looking for. Would you please do a video specifically about SI joint pain ? I've been in PT a long time for this issue and I'm just not finding long lasting relief. My therapist and I would welcome any new tips. 🤗
I don't know whether i become anxious...but i felt so much relaxed after following your instructions 😊 Undoubtedly i will continue to do these simple exercises Thank you ❤ Love from India 🇮🇳
I feel bad after reading all the comments about people crying. I did the butterfly hug and didn’t feel anything. Now I wonder if I did it wrong. Do I need to be standing up? I was doing it on my couch.
This was really wonderful.....however I think it would be great if you changed the title to 4 SOMATIC EXERCISES because that's how many there were:)) They were: 1. Butterfly Hug, 2. Wipe Away, 3. Shake, and 4. Goddess! These are simple but, I really liked them very much!!!
The first excercise was like my mind and body soothing eachother through tears with the sentences "I'm with you till the end. Dont give up. You are not alone, i am here I am here" ❤❤
Somatic practices does this for me too. I remember telling my therapist it feels like my mind, body and awareness are all spending time together for the first time in my life. Can totally relate to what you’re saying. God bless.
I went to s naturopathic doctor here in Oaxaca, Mexico and she’s trying to get my emotions released. It was not easy for me- I can groan, but I could not cry out or scream. Just not in my filter. But after my session with her last week, I had a new sense of awareness, not only my emotions being freer, but my connection of my spirit and soul ( emotions) being more open to each other. Does that make sense? Like I can cry and feel more easily now.
To be honest, it's really frustrating reading that so many people did the butterfly one and started crying immediately, because I felt nothing at all from it, just taps.
Totally fine- that was their experience of their nervous system. It’s neither good or bad. Feel free to search my channel for 100’s of other exercises that may resonate more with you
Hi Steven. Often when I do these practices and I feel nothing it means I’m doing it too fast. Can you try it slowly? Can you comfort the parts of you that are frustrated? Hope this helps.
There is no time limit, however preferably until you have a response of your nervous system- a yawn, sigh, swallow, cry , laugh , yell , feel calm etc etc . Give yourself time and patience with feeling into your body ❤️
If you start crying how long do you cry? I cry at everything and since I rationalized everything and didn't allow myself to feel anything so crying in the wrong moment feels weird and wrong, not to mention that I have been crying for 53 years and I'm really tired of using tears to express every emotion.
I used to always bounce my legs when sitting in a chair when i was a kid. And I mean ALWAYS, to the point my dad would yell at me to stop or strangers would ask me if I was nervous. I never felt nervous. Maybe, bored?? I do it some times as an adult.
I keep seeing people who say that they immediately started crying and felt a release from the butterfly hug, im usually pretty in tune but I felt nothing. I’m wondering if Im doing it wrong and will also try a visualization technique next time. But I’m also just curious as to why some people are having such an immediate reaction, does anyone know the reason to this? Like, what’s the purpose behind the action? Maybe it’s the hand chakra’s over heart chakra effect?
please please please please please, Jesus. I cry out to you with all my soul... bring into my life my twin-flame, and a tribe of real friends. I cannot bear to continue to be alone...
