This weekend I traded my 2016 CX-3 for a 2016 CX-5 with 26,700 miles on. OMG what a car! Spacious and loaded. I couldn't pass it up. I was only $435 under water from the trade. Talk about holding its value! I am a Mazda girl!!!

I was planning on buying a CX-3 but the interior space is a bit wanting…(I’m 5’11 and I like high vehicles). I think I’m going to get a 2016 CX-5 instead. Thanks for this comment

We have the Diesel in Europe and it delivers a great punch. 175hp with twin turbo.
    Excelent drive!

Still looks great 3 years on with the updates. The only things lacking is some extra noise insulation from the engine and that tacky surround for the screen. Shame the couldn't change the dash moulding to replicate the Mazda 6

I love my 2015 Mazda. 14 months on the road now, and running like a beautiful dream. Happy for Mazda's success.

2016 CX-5 GPS PROBLEMDoes any body know when Mazda will resolve the real-time "traffic update" feature on its new (2016) NAVTEC GPS for the CX-5? The option doesn't work (it is gray), so alternate route(s) are not displayed when traffic delays, congestion, accidents, detours, road construction, etc. are encountered on a planned route. On the previous CX-5 models (2014; 2015), the TomTom feature was called "traffic alert" and it worked (most of the time).

for 2016 CX5, can anyone tell me the difference in light output of the LED headlights vs the more traditional Halogen headlights? I know the LED's have advantages but I won't get them unless they provide significantly more light output.

I absolutely agree with your thoughts on the power. By no means fast but it has enough and like you said the road manners are just incredible. I was a lot attendant for a few years and drove every competitive SUV and even more expensive ones and this is better. Vs things like the escape and equinox it’s not even on the same planet.

Just bought this car and I love it! One thing is for sure, it doesn't feel like driving a CUV.

+Peter Tran Hi Im thinking of getting it. Does the 2x recall change your opinion on the CX5?

    • @petes_CE
      @petes_CE 8 ปีที่แล้ว

I am only aware of the fuel leak recall. It's just a bolt holding the fuel filler neck that may puncture the fuel tank during a collision. Mazda's fix was just to remove it. I don't think it's a big issue and hasn't changed my opinion of the CX-5. Sometimes I would like more power, but I just down shift a gear or two.

We just picked one up - 2016 CX 5 GT with Technology package in this same red (black leather interior).
Drives awesome, super comfortable. Amazed this isn't a more common vehicle!

I’ve had one for a few years now and I absolutely love it. It was perfect car for me just starting my career based off price and the relative fun I can have in it. I’ve pushed this thing to some crazy limits and it just does it

I had a 2015 CX-5 AWD Touring and it wasn't that all great. The transmission tend to shift a bit earlier then my 2014 Mazda3 for fuel saving and I didn't like it. Handing was just really not much different then my 2016 CR-V it a bit firmer in ride quality on the CX-5. I prefer the softer ride on the CR-V on a daily dives. MPG was disappointing as well...not up to EPA rating. LOL

Great review! Very helpful. I’m debating between purchasing a 2016 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring or a 2016 Honda CR-V EX-L.
I have a very bad lower back and am going through physical therapy for the past few years, with chronic back pain. Given the bad roads in California, I feel every little bump in the road, with my current car (2006 Honda CR-V 2WD). A short 30 min drive, leaves me with a very sore back. (yes it sounds lame, but believe me, when you have a disc issue, you notice these subtleties).
Which car would you recommend for this? Which has better suspension to absorb these shocks?
Also would a 4WD be better for this as compared to a 2WD?
How would you also compare the resale value & ease of resale for both cars?
Thanks a lot for your guidance!

The Honda CRV triumphs the Mazda CX-5 in terms of ride quality and resale value. With that said, you're gonna have more fun driving the Mazda despite a stiffer suspension.

Ride quality is good, you aren't numbed to the road, but it is comfy. The drive itself feels spirited and zippy. It's not a fast car, but it is geared in a way that makes it feel like it is just waiting to go. Adding in the sport mode I rarely notice a lack in power and all my previous cars were v6.
