And to think I was not clicking on the videos because I thought they were in German! Very nice review Thomas: your style is very refreshing in the business of car review videos. Also, finally someone who doesn't whine when a car doesn't have leather seats :-D Seriously considering a CX-5: I did a test drive of the 2.0 4WD petrol and your description of the pleasant impression the car gives right away when driving it felt so familiar! I really liked the feel.
I own one. It's a diesel 150 cv 2 wheel drive, blue mica is the colour. Bought it in April 2015. I can say that the review pretty much sums up what it's like to drive it. It's very pleasant to drive and very economical, 5 l/100 km.
Greetings from Australia. Just discovered this channel. Excellent review Thomas. One of the best I've watched. Very accurate, very clear and professionally presented. Keep up the good work.
Your a heck of a reviewer Autogefuhl (that's a compliment)!! I would of guessed that no one would of found that sharp edge behind the steering wheel, but I did, lol I actually found it 10 hrs after owning the CX-5 and 7 of those hours I was sleeping. I've only had it 13 hrs now and love it. You also explained the engine growl perfectly!! But, why hasn't anyone talked about the Zoom/Boost/Power/Yehaa button under the gas pedal?? I love this button....you basically put your foot on the gas pedal and if you need a boost/pick-up/quick acceleration then you floor it until you feel the micro-switch/click-switch click on..... and zoom off you go and the engine growls and tachometer goes into the red zone and wham your off like "Back to the Future" movie! Another cool thing is watching the tach. go up and down as your in boost is kicking in & out. One thing I don't like is that the front area has little storage so you have to rely on the storage pockets in the door and the little storage hole near the left knee has no door or drawer.
Appreciate the small details in your reviews, you do a much better job then the big name magazine reviews on youtube as it seems all they do is tell the viewers what the car companies marketing department wants them to.
I got the CX-5 2L Auto very comfortable and reliable car my only issue is it sometimes feels a bit lazy especially when changing gears however putting it into sport makes a huge difference. Nonetheless I have no buyers remorse.
Great review and finally someone to say loud how great Mazdas petrol engines are, especially the bigger. 2.5L. It doesn't have a bloody turbo or more turbos, very quiet and refined, simple and cheap to maintain, and when pushed hard gives beatifull sound from exhaus. And the consumption is maybe only 1 liter more than bigger diesel engine but it has better performance and less headache in a long run. I am planning to buy used CX5 or Mazda 6 with this 2.5L engine. The only problem is that these engines in Europe are very rare and difficult to find...
Nice review! Enjoyed it! Aldo I would prefere if you could tell us about AC powering sources in future reviews, cause Mazda has on some models systems that have separate powering for AC thus enabling use of AC without losing engine power... 12:50, nice detailing! Keep up the good work. :)
I just stumble across your channel. I like detailed you are about the fit and finish of thr interior. My girlfriend will probably be buying a 2016 cx5 soon. Are you able to do a detailed review video on the 2016 wrx? That would be great!
Great review and great car. I' ve been driving it for year and a half, and it's great. I also prefer the pre facelift front grill :) I'm driving 2.2 l diesel with 175 ps (420 Nm), manual gearbox (I insisted on it since it's one of the best in the market by my opinion) and I can highly recommend this car to anybody who is thinking of buying one. I've tested several competitors, I've red a lot of tests on the internet and I think it's best buy SUV. Even today I would buy it again because I don't see better car (we will see new Tiguan). Great drive (I had chance to drive it on race track it's very well balanced car, one of the sportiest compact SUV's), good fuel consumption (7,4 l/100km real average consumption, with AC on, sporty drive style, around 60-70% of driving is in city), enough space and compact length for city use. Also, good value for money. I've paid my car 35000 Eur, for top trim level (price for Serbia), and it has lot of equipment as standard (blind spot system, lane keep assist, auto high beam, front lights that follow corners, city safety auto braking, leather seats, Navigation system, rear camera, BOSE sound system). You don't have to pay extra for all of that as in some competitors (VW, Ford...). AWD system also pretty good (you can have a lot fun with it in snow :D). And just look at this design, definitely the best looking SUV's today (by my opinion).
+neca5292 thanks for the feedback! I Agree CX-5 and Tiguan are the best overall SUV picks at the moment. All-new Tiguan will be coming up on Autogefühl very soon, see static review from IAA here already: th-cam.com/video/2O7duj4HNhE/w-d-xo.html
Loved your review and just bought one yesterday! You'll be pleased to know the Mazda people must be watching as well--the 2016.5 doesn't have the sharp bit on the back of the steering wheel and the glove box must have a dampener as it now opens slowly and elegantly. Thanks to you I checked! :-) Doors thunk too! Thanks again--
Well done Thomas ! I'm a current owner of a 2014 Mazda CX-5, and am very pleased with the styling and reliability of this SUV. Nearing 30,000 miles and no problems to report with the 2.5L 184 HP engine included with the top Grand Touring trim level. Fuel economy is exceptional ! Currently averaging 30 MPG on the motorway with regular grade fuel here in the U.S. I think the subtle design changes in the 2016 model are desirable. The LEDs give it an even more sporty appearance at night, and the larger , more powerful engine sounds great. Also, small details like the sharp edge on the steering wheel are important to mention. I had a similar issue with the steering wheel on a previous Volvo XC-90. Sharp edges along the steering wheel trim felt uncomfortable and cheap. I plan on downsizing to the 2016 CX-3 as soon as it becomes available this fall in the US. Overall, very pleased with the Mazda brand. Thanks again for another outstanding review !
I agree with your findings on the Mazda CX-5 ,good reliable transportation .I think its due a makeover in next couple of years, but overall Great for what it is. Thanks good review ! Joe
Hi, great review Thomas. I enjoy watching these and appreciate the details. I ordered this car a month ago and was hoping that you would recommend the face lifted cx5. And luckily you did. :) we get the 2.5 L engine in Norway. And it is superb! Keep up the good work. I will be watching your future reviews even though I won't be purchasing another vehicle for many years, just because the reviews are fun and interesting!
I must say mr. Majchzak that I really enjoy the level of attention you give to details. The other presenter in this channel is also good.. but less details... and I enjoy details... As for the car. I really like it... the exterior is nice and masculine... i would buy it..:)
another great review, thanks Thomas just an error: at 2:00 this is not 'full LED' even on your car at the front, as you can see bulbs inside (amber/turn signals about engines, I checked for France, we will only get the 2.0 skyactiv-g :( no 2.5
***** over here in the US the headlights (high and low beam), day time running lights, and tail lights are all led. With the exception of turn signals and reverse light. :)
Hi there, again a great review Thomas, as we expected! The thing I love about these reviews is that you give practical advice but also let your heart speak when you talk about cars! And indeed the details as you said are very important, these are small things but you will notice them quite often. The Mazdz is a nice and good car, the quality has improved alot but ofcourse as you mentionned there are some little things like the steering wheel, haha ;) But I think thats its a good choice when you buy this car! And to end I just wanted to say, here in Belgium we say 'De koffer' so almost the same as 'Kofferraum' in Germany ;) Keep up the good work Thomas/Autogefühl! This indeed my number one right now!
CX-5 seems to be the most fun to drive - but all things put on hold till new Tiguan arrives! Great engine. Infotainment screen looks good in a built into the dash setting instead of sticking ON dashboard like even in some upscale makes. Cleaver rear setback system but too bad area is still not real flat floor. I pay special attention to the AWD system-- what amount of transfer front to rear and side to side-- testing on inclines, uneven roads, etc. Tucson and Tiguan use Magna supplier for example but don't know about what system is used in the Mazda. Seeing the GPS work and the iPhone integration. Trunk/Boot or ? (love those German terms)
Tolles Video 👏 Wie ist der Vergleich mit dem Toyota RAV4 aus der gleichen Generation? Und nun einige Jahre später, wäre Diesel oder Petrol die bessere Wahl?
Hi Thomas, I am looking for a used all wheel drive in germany max 14K below 100k kms and I am undecided between this and the Subaru XV 2015( I have read had a lot of issues break lights, battery drained, touch screen freezing etc), or also the passat all track but 2014 for this budget (not restyling) or a GT xdrive BMW 530 2011 but with 200k as it is quite high seat, also the Suzuki sx 2015, what do you think?
Great Review, love the details, inside and out. Some more important than others, as you mention, but good to have all the information and be able to make your own decisions! Excellent work.
Great detailed review, just discovered your channel. Most cx5 test rides are in a diesel. Although in the UK we only get the 2l petrol or the diesels. I prefer the petrol for peaceful tick over. I might get this 2016 version rather than the newer model as I can get a top spec 2nd hand one for 15k ish with low miles.
G'day, Thomas, thanks for an excellent review! I have lost count of how many others on the CX-5 (and Mazda3) I have watched over the past few months, but this was easily the best and most useful for a prospective customer. Unfortunately, many others are, um, too American with little attention to detail, and there are not too many Aussie ones available for the current model. I actually ordered my 2016 CX-5 Maxx Sport 2.5L auto (the next trim level up from the base model in Australia) with safety pack last week after much research, consideration and scrutinising each model at the dealership. If I'd come across your review earlier, I think the decision would have been easier, but still glad to have seen it now as it validates a lot of my assessment. The greater spaciousness of the cabin and boot ultimately cinched it for me (I'm 1.88m), even though the Mazda3 SP25 is a bit more zippy being a lighter car and of course less expensive. Cheers, mate!
Great review Thomas, in Canada for the 2016 model is available with the 2.0 and the 2.5 lt engines. For the top version it has the sunroof as standard as well as the auto gearbox and only leather as seating. When is the new Tiguan going to be launch?
thanks! Hm, others with N/A, not that easy to find, especially not in the compact class segment. This one here has one, Tucson, Tiguan, Ateca etc dont have it We have a HRV review but thats a smaller segment. You wanna have approximately the same size as the CX5, dont u ?
is it possible to test the bluetooth / voice quality. I hate my GTI's and IS250 bluetooth.. CT200h so far I got less complaints from the other person I am speaking to..
wow, what a nice sounding engine! And at 25:43 - this is exactly the sound of my 1.4 TSI. :D :D I have to say, I don't like it. Luckily when under load at higher speeds, it sounds more like a (quieter) diesel. BTW. great review, as usual!
I like your reviews. In some videos the model year of the suv/car is not mentioned in the title, then it’s hard to figure out the model year when I watch in mobile. In pc it’s fine. So my suggestion will be to keep the model year in the title. Thanks for all your informative reviews 😇.
? tucson 2016 2.4l 4x4 or cx5 2.5l in term of sound insulation + the good driving feeling+ the quietness of the engine inside the car? plz help me to decide
Great review and attention to detail as usually. In my opinion it's really important to point out things like the sharp edges on the steering wheel, as it can get very irritating on day to day basis and affect the appeal of an otherwise nice vehicle. Touch points like that should not be overlooked by the manufacturers. You have also mentioned the thin, light door panels, which causes some concern about the longevity of the car. I live in a northern part of Europe and Mazdas don't last long here. I am not so sure about the cars of the newest generation, but the previous iteration of their fleet would show severe rust after just 3 years of use. The whole car would rust out in 5 to 7 years time. What is even worse that the dealers often refuse to address the corrosion under warranty and leave the owners with a helplessly rusted car that is still relatively new. This tinny, thin metal you find on the car in the review does not give much hope that things have improved, however it would be interesting to know how Mazda cars are holding up in Germany.
Povilas Svedas Interesting feedback, thanks! Oh wow, that sounds really bad. Lately, Mazda had good scorings in reliability. Maybe its the special conditions up in the North? You from sverige ?
***** I'm from Lithuania. To be fair, we tend to use quite a bit of salt for the roads during winter, however no other brand suffers even remotely as much as Mazda does. It has really hurt the company's image and as a result of this, examples of their current line of vehicles are pretty rare. As you said the drive train and the rest of the technical systems are bulletproof, it's the body that gives out way too quickly and puts buyers off. After seeing those cars I would be hard pressed to purchase one of their products, which is a shame since Mazda's are nice cars.
Great review thomas but i dont agree with you on the engine.A2.5 in today economy is too thirsty.I know what you said about turbos but in todays world and specially with a Mazda, top reliability, that is not a problem. The 2.2 diesel is the best for me 175 bhp and over 420 nms of torque.that is a game changer.so i now own a late 2015 imported from japan and it is the best car for the money i have ever had.The one that came very close to it was, indeed, the vw tiquan.if you spec a tiquan with the extras a cx5 has,its costs a lot more.so,in my humble opinion,if you want european, get the vw if you want other get the cx5.
thanks also for the work you put into your reviews.for me you are the best and i am not just saying that to sweet talk you.i have learned so much from you about many cars.thank you Thomas.
Man, the worst engine choice, I have the same engine in 2016.5 mazda cx5. Oil pump chain will snap, carbon from engine will clog up the engine and oil. And I bought it with only 90k and serviced it only at mazda dealer. Gasoline engines are much better. Yes it drinks more fuel but it will save you money on service.
@@Imenijebitno108 I have had 4 cx5s and no problem with them if you keep up he services and maintenances. My mechanic has a machine that clears the engine from any build up.Now i drive a 2021 cx8,same 2.2 diesel but a little more powerful and one that self generates and cleans itself.Still no problem. The only complain i have is that the model range is becoming confusing.CX3,CX5,CX8,CX9,CX30,CX50,CX60,CX80 AND TO CONFUSE EVEN MORE MX30 and so on.
Best reviewer out there! Attention to detail :) We also love your german accent. Love it. Ok so I'm looking to buy a family car right now. Quality, comfort, quiteness and fun is important. I have been looking at Golf alltrack, cx5,, tiguan, bmw 320 kombi. What I like Golf, versitile, fun, pretty quiet, not the best design but still good looking ok resale value 25k cx 5, little bit plasticy, noisy, good looking and roomy bad resale, 30k bmw 320 good looking, fun, not so roomy, good quality, good noise, good resale, 35k tiguan 2017, same as cx 5 but perhaps better quality. 36k So what do you think? What is the best buy?
+Studio Edin great to have you here! We almost all got them, seen the reviews? Golf Alltrack: th-cam.com/video/6WLFeJBXhqU/w-d-xo.html VW Tiguan: th-cam.com/video/YP57qj6AmPA/w-d-xo.html & th-cam.com/video/AhpQSLac3HM/w-d-xo.html Hyundai Tucson: th-cam.com/video/bwbb6dfxBoY/w-d-xo.html
+Autogefühl Can I ask... Is this the Soul Red colour? It looks amazing! They didn't have this colour in the dealership when I visited today :-( I'm considering 'upsizing' my car again, and have now narrowed it down from four options to this 2015 CX5 Sport Nav (the range topper trim in UK), or the new 2015 Hyundai Tucson Premium SE (again range topper). Have now test-driven both and the Mazda feels much better to drive and connected to the road, but the Tucson has more kit included as standard (here in the UK anyway). Although I loved the CX5 electronic parking brake (non handbrake) in the UK. Very similar to my Nissan QQ.
Thomas, love your attention to detail. May I ask your background? Are you a designer? I am asking as your language is kind of similar to a designer as well as your eye to design details. keep up the good work.
a. stas. Hey, thanks! Oh I take that as a compliment. Actually I am a journalist ... just didnt start with automotive reporting but with general regional reporting some decades ago
Andrej Krušič Hey, its really great, its a new one. The previous before can be seen in our old CX-5 review - that old one was really really bad. That one now is great, especially in the combination with the new big petrol fellow
Hi Thomas/Autogefühl, first of all I must say your car reviews are awesome. I'm from Barcelona by the way, this means I've got some kind of "Autogefühl für kleine Fahrzeuge" (z.B. Mazda 2 2016), but on the other hand I'm living in Mexico right now, where everybody else is driving these huge (old) pick ups & the like.. Could you please give me some advice, whether to go for the Mazda 2 2016 which is being built here in Mexico in their Mazda plant.. the Mazda CX 3 AWD which is far more expensive.., the Subaru Forester, the least expensive version which is also AWD, or the Mazda CX 5 2016 AWD the most expensive of these 4 cars.. ? Few things to keep in mind are: Mazda has got a good reputation here in Mexico, for reliability and tech. support/assistance.. whereas Subaru is relative new in the mex. market.. (Subaru includes a 5 year/100k km free of charge warranty by the way). Mazda 2 is good enough for everyday use and weekend trips.. but we're talking about Mexico, some off-road capabilities could come in handy here.. Does AWD CX3/5 make a difference ? Neither CX3 nor CX5 ground clearance comes close to subaru's 22 cm anyway.. (what do you guys think ?) Subaru's gotten issues, (buyers paranoia?) Is the Subaru Forester a better choice.. ? Budget wise I'd rather go for the Mazda 2.. Is there any other option which you'd think fits my needs better than these ones.. ? thanx so much and congrats for your "hervorragend" work and talent.
Ciro Aisa Hey! Love to hear that, thanks! Actually it is about the budget and the space you have available. I would go for the CX-5 in general as it is the best car imho. If you wanna spend less money, I'd go for the CX-3 because it already offers the high seating position. Didnt drive Subarus yes sorry!
***** ..Ja Thomas.. CX3 AWD looks gorgeous, indeed, but I'm concerned about its off-road limitations, due to its only average ground clearance height, besides you tested it, but only outside limits of Barcelona, been there too, almost same place, driving an average VW Polo.. I can't test drive it now, 'coz the model isn't in Mex. yet. Any thoughts on its off road capabilities/limitations ? In catalan please, haha !
Thank you Thomas for this awesome review, I was going back and forth from BMWX3 or Mazda CX-5 and choose Mazda because engine and styling to me looks better also in Canada we get 5 years unlimited KM`. We cant get diesel engine here so savings in petrol is a must for me. keep up good work
Hi thomas, excellent review !!! Thanks a lot !!! For your benefit, make the titles of your video ending with "-ENG" ... I was thinking that it was in German ;-)
Huge fan of this car. But do not like the facelift alloys at all. The dark middles do not look good. The alloys on the pre facelift were some of the nicest alloys on any car. Such a shame they got rid of them
Danke für dieses Review. Es hat mich dazu gebracht über dieses Auto nachzudenken, Probefahrt habe ich jetzt schon auch absolviert und das neue Auto in meiner Familie wird im Herbt ein Mazda CX5 sein. :-)
Thank you Thomas for this very detailed review, it is the best! My bf is german also but we live in Canada and he just bought this 2016 CX5 GT model a day ago and he loves it so far. The engine is really great, driving is quiet like you said. But for the interior, my bf didn't notice that sharp corner at the back of steering wheel. Good thing you pointed that out haha. Btw is this the country side of Germany?
***** Good that you dont have the sharp corner, sometimes its just in very few or even just in one car. Yeap this is the country side where we live close by in the western middle part!
+Autogefühl yes it is good that the one he bought didnt have the sharp corner. oh sweet ur in country side, that is why in your video it looks so peaceful
Thanks Thomas! Yet another top-notch review. The cx-5 styling both interior & exterior is very nice. The interior dash has a German simplistic styling which is my favourite. Very easy on the eyes. White leather? Looks nice but not for long. In Canada we have both the 2.0 & 2.5 litre engines available FYI. I agree with you re normally aspirated vs turbo engines. I much prefer my n/a bimmer to my wife's turbo when driving back to back. Suggestion: please give us a new automotive term in German with each review As you did with the "boot" in this review 👍🏻🇩🇪 Mario
Nice video as always. I like Mazdas, i feel like they are the more premium japanese brand maybe together with honda. Would like to see you test some koreans, Kia Ce'ed and Hyundai i30.
Hi Thomas .... This video is about 29 min, can you add 1 more min and talk about sound system and play some music for 30 sec that would be good, because i would never buy a car if it don't have a good sound system and i think it would be good for your channel
1Messii Ok I ll do that. Sound system was nice here indeed, the Bose one. About playing Music, it will be hard to transport that over the camera sound ... not sure if you can really hear a difference
Leather coverings hold up better to dogs and grandkids with regards to scratches, stains, fluids, and pet hair removal than cloth, vinyl, and plastic. Decades of experience with all. This guy says the opposite, but he carries himself like one that doesn't do yard work, go camping, take kids to soccer or anything that may drag dirt, sweat, or sticky things in. Leather has not let me down while fabrics and vinyl have every time. Good review otherwise
Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at th-cam.com/video/S1aNZeoatmE/w-d-xo.html). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable. A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: th-cam.com/video/1pRNkW9nrrw/w-d-xo.html And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: th-cam.com/video/6vXePQi_MAk/w-d-xo.html New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: th-cam.com/video/u94YXJ72UTA/w-d-xo.html More and more natural materials are rising: th-cam.com/video/nRSsXEnwHDo/w-d-xo.html Also check out what the animal skin leather industry tried to with our channel: th-cam.com/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/w-d-xo.html For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: th-cam.com/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/w-d-xo.html Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. Also a group of researchers and German journalists from public media could recent directly trace the connection between car animal leather production and illegal burning down Amazon rain forest: www.daserste.de/information/reportage-dokumentation/ard-story/videos/illegales-leder-video-100.html In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? Remember that animal skin leather is no different to fur, fur is just leather where the hair is still on. And fur is widely not accepted for clothing anymore, and of course not for cars. We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future. For a great insight into sustainability in the automotive industry, you can also check out our extensive documentary: th-cam.com/video/-8gNXlRGngA/w-d-xo.html
good review but don't like the car other than 2500cc turbo. I am going to buy a new tycoon and a new kit shortage. you get a lot for your money. 35000 euro no way, white seats make me ill
I agree...but it's a little unfair to say the Mazda door is not as weighty and high quality as cars costing many times its price. In general, however, I enjoy your informative reviews.
Yes it is. I have mazda 3 2015 full trim model in 7000km i have 20 damages from rock chips. Paint dosent have any protection on outside road condition. In Croatia onwners gather (20 and our number is getting bigger by the day) who has the same problem. We have facebook page "mazda 3 2014 nekvalitetan lak" and also we have been on national tv with this problem. We have contacted owners in Usa and they have even more problems with paint such as rust on welding spota along with poor quality of paint on outside condition. The plan is to massivly strike mazda with this problem in the same time. So they can finally see that is not our fault.
+Jonnie Bangkok I didnt say it is a piece of junk, they really improved that over the years. But it is not keeping up with VAG brands for example, however it is way better than other Japanese manufacturers!
New Mazda CX-5 FULL REVIEW: th-cam.com/video/atTVvHGCZ0o/w-d-xo.html
I've owned a CX-5 for almost 3 years now. Best car i've ever owned. I'm going to trade it in for this one!! Loved your review.
I really like your reviews. You are the only reviewer I found who pays so much attention to details.
highly appreciated ! Please recommend :)
And to think I was not clicking on the videos because I thought they were in German!
Very nice review Thomas: your style is very refreshing in the business of car review videos. Also, finally someone who doesn't whine when a car doesn't have leather seats :-D
Seriously considering a CX-5: I did a test drive of the 2.0 4WD petrol and your description of the pleasant impression the car gives right away when driving it felt so familiar! I really liked the feel.
Watched this maybe 20 times while waiting for 4th month for mine to arrive :)
always presented with fun and humour. thank you :)
altern8ive great to have u here, thx!
Finally someone honest who really gives the bad/neg sides of a car
Joel C Thanks Joel!
Great review!
Always enjoy the little comments about how things feel quality wise. Very helpful when you can't see all these cars in person
+Mike R thanks!
I own one. It's a diesel 150 cv 2 wheel drive, blue mica is the colour. Bought it in April 2015. I can say that the review pretty much sums up what it's like to drive it. It's very pleasant to drive and very economical, 5 l/100 km.
João Moreira da Silva thanks for the feedback!
Greetings from Australia. Just discovered this channel. Excellent review Thomas. One of the best I've watched. Very accurate, very clear and professionally presented.
Keep up the good work.
thanks oscar, tune in for more!
Hands down you are the best car reviewer online. Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much stay with us!
+Joe Patrick heh, thanks! Oh you mean when you push down the throttle till the end?
Thanks so much for the detailed review. It convinced me that the CX-5 was the one for me! I just bought one and love it!
thanks Georgia and have fun with it !
Appreciate the small details in your reviews, you do a much better job then the big name magazine reviews on youtube as it seems all they do is tell the viewers what the car companies marketing department wants them to.
warphace love to hear that !
I got the CX-5 2L Auto very comfortable and reliable car my only issue is it sometimes feels a bit lazy especially when changing gears however putting it into sport makes a huge difference. Nonetheless I have no buyers remorse.
New CX5 in testing. If this 5 year old model is still one of the best SUVs on the market I can't wait to see what Mazda makes next!
Highly appreciated! Please recommend our channel 😎
Nice review! Enjoyed it! Aldo I would prefere if you could tell us about AC powering sources in future reviews, cause Mazda has on some models systems that have separate powering for AC thus enabling use of AC without losing engine power... 12:50, nice detailing! Keep up the good work. :)
yea it's called the i-eloop
Usual great review but wide angled lens distorts images of vehicle.
Cool as usually :) I would like to see a full review of the "new" Seat Ibiza facelift
***** thanks! Yeah, that we will also do this year :) Not fixed yet, but i ll try to!
Great detailed review. Thanks.
Perfect review! Thank you for the hard work.
Shin Ken thanks for appreciating the hard work!
Greetings from Riga, Latvia! Thank you for great review about Mazda CX 5.
thanks and greetings back to riga :)
I just stumble across your channel. I like detailed you are about the fit and finish of thr interior.
My girlfriend will probably be buying a 2016 cx5 soon.
Are you able to do a detailed review video on the 2016 wrx? That would be great!
John C hey, thanks. We ll try to do that. First we ll check out the Subaru Levorg!
Thanks again--
+Erin Levin thanks Erin for the update :)
Thanks again for another outstanding review !
fhkazm great feedback, thanks!
is it true the Mazda has problems with very fragile paint and with corrosion?
I agree with your findings on the Mazda CX-5 ,good reliable transportation .I think its due a makeover in next couple of years, but overall Great for what it is.
Thanks good review !
Joe
TechExplorer indeed! thx!
Hi, great review Thomas. I enjoy watching these and appreciate the details. I ordered this car a month ago and was hoping that you would recommend the face lifted cx5. And luckily you did. :) we get the 2.5 L engine in Norway. And it is superb! Keep up the good work. I will be watching your future reviews even though I won't be purchasing another vehicle for many years, just because the reviews are fun and interesting!
toggimir Great to hear that, thanks! :-)
Nice car! It will be great to see comparison test Forester vs CX-5.
Great review again! Thanks!
miniorek appreciated !
***** How about Subaru Forester review... ?
I like the cupholders in the engine cover.
ivos smarttv LOL
I must say mr. Majchzak that I really enjoy the level of attention you give to details.
The other presenter in this channel is also good.. but less details... and I enjoy details...
As for the car. I really like it... the exterior is nice and masculine...
i would buy it..:)
Jok Ker really appreciated. Great that you are here with us
Great review as always Thomas. I agree, I smallest details are just as important. I'm sure Mazda will not want sore fingers :)
Keith Fernandes =)
Great, are we going to see the 6 sedan too?
Vasiliy Kulev yeah that will be the 2nd next Mazda in row. The very next Mazda will be the new MX-5 though :)
another great review, thanks Thomas
just an error: at 2:00 this is not 'full LED' even on your car at the front, as you can see bulbs inside (amber/turn signals
about engines, I checked for France, we will only get the 2.0 skyactiv-g :( no 2.5
***** hey, thanks! Hm strange, usually the LEDs should have been included in this model line.
***** over here in the US the headlights (high and low beam), day time running lights, and tail lights are all led. With the exception of turn signals and reverse light. :)
This but with 2.2 diesel 175 hp or Mercedes GLK 220d 2013?
Hi there, again a great review Thomas, as we expected! The thing I love about these reviews is that you give practical advice but also let your heart speak when you talk about cars! And indeed the details as you said are very important, these are small things but you will notice them quite often. The Mazdz is a nice and good car, the quality has improved alot but ofcourse as you mentionned there are some little things like the steering wheel, haha ;)
But I think thats its a good choice when you buy this car!
And to end I just wanted to say, here in Belgium we say 'De koffer' so almost the same as 'Kofferraum' in Germany ;)
Keep up the good work Thomas/Autogefühl! This indeed my number one right now!
Carpassion19 love your feedback :)
Very nice review as always. But no spare wheel? That is safety for sure
+ZobbarPrince-Walrus thanks! spare wheel you can usually order extra
This is the car I have in mind for 2016. Thanks for the review; mostly your imitation of the sound of the motor ;-)
+Carlos Fernandez appreciated =)
Excelent review Thomas, very thanks for ALL the details. Keep up the Best youtube car reviews. Liked the car, excelent in the segmemt.
Pedro Casal thanks Pedro!
I was really enjoyed your humor and detail presentation, I would love to see such details focus presentation by you with new Hyundai Tucson.
+braadado thanks! I ll do that later this or next year! Have you already seen the Tucson presentation by Holger?
Great Review, love the details, inside and out. Some more important than others, as you mention, but good to have all the information and be able to make your own decisions! Excellent work.
+Stacey Gordon thanks!
I live in Peru, we get the 2.5 Liter engine here but not the face-lifted model yet :(
+schakalix I guess you ll get it at some time... indeed they first update their main markets
Thanks! Funny I don't see any Subaru reviews on your channel. Do you plan on making some soon?
:D my face when i see Thomas in the thumbnail.
i have a 2013 CX5 , nice car
Great detailed review, just discovered your channel. Most cx5 test rides are in a diesel. Although in the UK we only get the 2l petrol or the diesels. I prefer the petrol for peaceful tick over. I might get this 2016 version rather than the newer model as I can get a top spec 2nd hand one for 15k ish with low miles.
Welcome 🤗
Good detail review. Can you update Audi Q3 2015 facelift model also review
shelton philipose Thanks! Holger did a presentation on that, search for autogefuehl audi q3 !
Do we not get this 2.5 petrol in the UK?
+Ash T love to hear that. Join us for more reviews ! Great order with 2.5 and mid-trim level !!
+Autogefühl Well, I got my CX-5 earlier this month and couldn't be happier. What a terrific vehicle! Very happy with my decision. :)
Great review Thomas, in Canada for the 2016 model is available with the 2.0 and the 2.5 lt engines. For the top version it has the sunroof as standard as well as the auto gearbox and only leather as seating. When is the new Tiguan going to be launch?
Mauricio Gomez Weiss thanks for the feedback! New Tiguan we ll show you in september at IAA auto show! Launch will be later though.
Nice review as always.
Could you recomand me a few cars or suv's with naturally aspirated engine ?
thanks in advance
thanks! Hm, others with N/A, not that easy to find, especially not in the compact class segment. This one here has one,
Tucson, Tiguan, Ateca etc dont have it
We have a HRV review but thats a smaller segment. You wanna have approximately the same size as the CX5, dont u ?
something like this .
so in this segment maybe Honda CRV if...or Toyota Rav4
and some in compact if you know ...
is it possible to test the bluetooth / voice quality. I hate my GTI's and IS250 bluetooth..
CT200h so far I got less complaints from the other person I am speaking to..
dantze didnt have any complaints about it so far!
wow, what a nice sounding engine! And at 25:43 - this is exactly the sound of my 1.4 TSI. :D :D I have to say, I don't like it. Luckily when under load at higher speeds, it sounds more like a (quieter) diesel. BTW. great review, as usual!
uk574 thanks!
I like your reviews. In some videos the model year of the suv/car is not mentioned in the title, then it’s hard to figure out the model year when I watch in mobile. In pc it’s fine. So my suggestion will be to keep the model year in the title. Thanks for all your informative reviews 😇.
thanks m8 !!
? tucson 2016 2.4l 4x4 or cx5 2.5l in term of sound insulation + the good driving feeling+ the quietness of the engine inside the car?
plz help me to decide
+Nabil Rasheed see here: th-cam.com/video/bwbb6dfxBoY/w-d-xo.html
The 2.2 diesel is the best for me 175 bhp and over 420 nms of torque.that is a game changer.so i now own a late 2015 imported from japan and it is the best car for the money i have ever had.The one that came very close to it was, indeed, the vw tiquan.if you spec a tiquan with the extras a cx5 has,its costs a lot more.so,in my humble opinion,if you want european, get the vw if you want other get the cx5.
thx for the feedback!
thanks also for the work you put into your reviews.for me you are the best and i am not just saying that to sweet talk you.i have learned so much from you about many cars.thank you Thomas.
What I like
Golf, versitile, fun, pretty quiet, not the best design but still good looking ok resale value 25k
cx 5, little bit plasticy, noisy, good looking and roomy bad resale, 30k
bmw 320 good looking, fun, not so roomy, good quality, good noise, good resale, 35k
tiguan 2017, same as cx 5 but perhaps better quality. 36k
So what do you think? What is the best buy?
+Studio Edin great to have you here! We almost all got them, seen the reviews?
Golf Alltrack: th-cam.com/video/6WLFeJBXhqU/w-d-xo.html
VW Tiguan: th-cam.com/video/YP57qj6AmPA/w-d-xo.html & th-cam.com/video/AhpQSLac3HM/w-d-xo.html
Hyundai Tucson: th-cam.com/video/bwbb6dfxBoY/w-d-xo.html
Love your reviews Thomas. Trying to decide between the CX-5 and 2016 Hyundai Tuscon any opinions?
***** thanks!! Holger drove both and would clearly go for the CX-5, it would look more refined
Fantastic, detailed informative review - as always. 👍
+Dominic Joseph thanks !
+Autogefühl Can I ask... Is this the Soul Red colour? It looks amazing! They didn't have this colour in the dealership when I visited today :-(
I'm considering 'upsizing' my car again, and have now narrowed it down from four options to this 2015 CX5 Sport Nav (the range topper trim in UK), or the new 2015 Hyundai Tucson Premium SE (again range topper).
How is the automatic transmision? Fast ? Compared to dsg?
Great review as always.
Andrej Krušič Hey, its really great, its a new one. The previous before can be seen in our old CX-5 review - that old one was really really bad. That one now is great, especially in the combination with the new big petrol fellow
Hi Thomas. How the cx5 compare to the seat Ateca in term of habitability ? ( specially in driver seat) You have tried both of them. Danke !
hey m8, I found them both comfortable!
Autogefühl you are 1m80 aren't you ?
Hi Thomas/Autogefühl, first of all I must say your car reviews are awesome.
I'm from Barcelona by the way, this means I've got some kind of "Autogefühl für
kleine Fahrzeuge" (z.B. Mazda 2 2016), but on the other hand I'm living in Mexico
right now, where everybody else is driving these huge (old) pick ups & the like..
Could you please give me some advice, whether to go for the Mazda 2 2016 which is
being built here in Mexico in their Mazda plant.. the Mazda CX 3 AWD which is far
more expensive.., the Subaru Forester, the least expensive version which is also
AWD, or the Mazda CX 5 2016 AWD the most expensive of these 4 cars.. ?
Few things to keep in mind are: Mazda has got a good reputation here in Mexico,
for reliability and tech. support/assistance.. whereas Subaru is relative new in the mex.
(what do you guys think ?) Subaru's gotten issues, (buyers paranoia?)
Is the Subaru Forester a better choice..
Ciro Aisa Indeed if you go offroad a lot or very bad roads, the CX-5 might be the better idea ...
***** Thx man, for your time.. next time I'll be talking to you in catalan ;-)
Ciro Aisa si senor! :>
Thank you Thomas for this awesome review, I was going back and forth from BMWX3 or Mazda CX-5 and choose Mazda because engine and styling to me looks better also in Canada we get 5 years unlimited KM`. We cant get diesel engine here so savings in petrol is a must for me. keep up good work
+Iggy rockabilly thanks and have fun! :)
they should've used the tablet-like screen like in the mazda 6
Hi thomas, excellent review !!! Thanks a lot !!! For your benefit, make the titles of your video ending with "-ENG" ... I was thinking that it was in German ;-)
thanks and spread the word for us :)
Onorato Biagio dxzZ
Huge fan of this car. But do not like the facelift alloys at all. The dark middles do not look good. The alloys on the pre facelift were some of the nicest alloys on any car. Such a shame they got rid of them
pipcannon well you can always pick a lot of different alloys
Danke für dieses Review. Es hat mich dazu gebracht über dieses Auto nachzudenken, Probefahrt habe ich jetzt schon auch absolviert und das neue Auto in meiner Familie wird im Herbt ein Mazda CX5 sein. :-)
+juicemanko Schön, dass wir helfen konnten! :) Wirst bestimmt zufrieden sein. Und denkt dran, keine Ledersitze kaufen! LG
Suggestion: please give us a new automotive term in German with each review
As you did with the "boot" in this review 👍🏻🇩🇪
Mario
Mario Dalla Riva heh =) Ok I ll introduce some more German UBER automotive terms :)
Danke, Thomas!! :)
Would be nice indeed! :)
Where is the spare tire stored?
+Ian Johnson most modern vehicles dont have it anymore, however sometimes you can order it as an extra. Then it would be below the trunk cover
Must be different in Europe? Most cars in Canada and probably the U.S. still get the donut sized spare.
+Ian Johnson yeah in Europe, most cars come with tyre repair kit now
Nice video as always. I like Mazdas, i feel like they are the more premium japanese brand maybe together with honda. Would like to see you test some koreans, Kia Ce'ed and Hyundai i30.
Klas Lilja Hey, thanks! Mazda6 will be soon in our review.
Hi Thomas .... This video is about 29 min, can you add 1 more min and talk about sound system and play some music for 30 sec that would be good, because i would never buy a car if it don't have a good sound system and i think it would be good for your channel
1Messii I agree with this comment.
1Messii Ok I ll do that. Sound system was nice here indeed, the Bose one. About playing Music, it will be hard to transport that over the camera sound ... not sure if you can really hear a difference
I'll second that :-)
Would you rather get cx-5 or 6?
Stjepan Schtefek you mean Mazda6 ? I would go for the SUV.
Beautiful car, but the 2017 model is just insanely good.
This review alone makes me want to get this car! I also love Sharks too :p
Guii sharp hehe =)
A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: th-cam.com/video/1pRNkW9nrrw/w-d-xo.html
And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: th-cam.com/video/6vXePQi_MAk/w-d-xo.html
New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: th-cam.com/video/u94YXJ72UTA/w-d-xo.html
More and more natural materials are rising: th-cam.com/video/nRSsXEnwHDo/w-d-xo.html
Also check out what the animal skin leather industry tried to with our channel: th-cam.com/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/w-d-xo.html
For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: th-cam.com/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/w-d-xo.html
Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally.
Also a group of researchers and German journalists from public media could recent directly trace the connection between car animal leather production and illegal burning down Amazon rain forest:

In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter.

+13kiwiboy hehe nice idea. I did it with the Ferrari California T btw :)
This dude is so tall that makes the car look so small, he must be like 2 + meters tall
😂
I wish Skyactiv-d is not vw engine.
+Lee Myung-bak Lee hm ?
good review but don't like the car other than 2500cc turbo. I am going to buy a new tycoon and a new kit shortage. you get a lot for your money. 35000 euro no way, white seats make me ill
+nick freeman thanks! Seen our Tucson (driving) and new Sportage (static IAA) reviews?
24.000 EUR entry? IN Denmark the Entryprice are 44.300 EUR. we so much need new tax rules :-)

you are not that picky when it comes to german cars. interesting.
see here: th-cam.com/video/VZ180HNvMlk/w-d-xo.html
would the way the glovebox opens or the sharp edge on the steering wheel be a matter if it was a vw or a bmw? well i don't think so.
Funny how you Germans fetishize the "door thunk." Not every car can be an S-class Mercedes or 7 series BMW...not everyone can afford those cars.
+Jonnie Bangkok sure, but it is always a nice example of the sensual feeling of a car
I agree...but it's a little unfair to say the Mazda door is not as weighty and high quality as cars costing many times its price. In general, however, I enjoy your informative reviews.
+Jonnie Bangkok Thanks! I was more referring to Volkswagen and Skoda for example... they are not that different in prices!
Mazda 👌👌👌💖
To bad the paint is cheap quality
Knorsky Is it?
Yes it is. I have mazda 3 2015 full trim model in 7000km i have 20 damages from rock chips.
Paint dosent have any protection on outside road condition.
In Croatia onwners gather (20 and our number is getting bigger by the day)
who has the same problem.
Agree with you that the interior build quality is a piece of junk.
+Jonnie Bangkok I didnt say it is a piece of junk, they really improved that over the years. But it is not keeping up with VAG brands for example, however it is way better than other Japanese manufacturers!
