    As informative and helpful as ever. I've always called it a 'favor-it'.

    so i just bought a canon ftb, and it came fine,beautifully stored, No Problem whatsoever, until when i took the lens off of the camera, and i accidentally pressed the stop down functioning lever(again, no lens attached) and now, the aperture completely stuck at 1.8(the problem is not from the lens) and the stop down functioning lever now when pressed, no (spring/tention to bounce back?) and when i press the shutter release, even though i set it at f16, it always stays at f1.8, i googled this problem all day and can't find an answer to this, please help me, i would really really appreciate any help,
    i was wondering, can i email you guys for easier help

    Good repair video on a great camera! I have yet to add one of those to my collection. Say, that "Tom" person in your comments isn't a person, it's a spam bot & needs to be reported immediately. I would think YT would have deleted the account by now, but they're running a skeleton crew & letting there ever omnipotent (ignorant) AI system filter & moderate this site. If only they would get back to work & do the great job they didn't do before. Regards.

      Thank the comments and extra information. What do you suggest be done? If such is the case... do not want to remove from comments than would it not also remove good legitimate comments too? Is a report link something worth while?

      @@FixOldCameras Reporting "Tom's" comment will not have any effect on others. Just hover your cursor over the offending post & look for the three dots to appear to the right of it. Click on it & it should give you the option to report. Click that & then check the box for unwanted commercial content or spam & hit OK. That alerts TH-cam & it should disappear. If not right away, it will in a day or two. They're running a skeleton crew at the moment & are letting the AI system tend to most of the reporting. So things may be a bit slow.

    Is the gear-thingy screw counter clock wise when fastening? (The big black wheel)

    • @FixOldCameras
      @FixOldCameras  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. CCW to tighten the gear-thingy screw. The gear-thingy screw is good be useful for a description and might just appear in a future FOC video when no other nomenclatures can be conjured.

    Anything (proper) Zeiss Ikon is scary to disassemble :D I wouldn't want to have to tinker with that mess under the front pannel.

      The Ikoflex Favorit used to have a reputation of both requiring more service than average for TLRs, and being unpopular with repairmen. Now I see why. Typical Zeiss Ikon over-built body, looks much more fussy to work on than a Rolleiflex. I shopping many years ago without success for a minty Favorit, This reputation was the main reason I abandoned the hunt.

    What kind of adhesive do you use to reattach the leatherette? I'm about to do this exact procedure and I usually have poor results with the rubber cement I've been using on previous cameras.

    I have a clean Favorit that has a stuck shutter. Is it complicated once I open it up?

    • @FixOldCameras
      @FixOldCameras  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once you get the front plate off, it is typical of that type of between the lens shutter. Before you take it apart for a complete and proper repair. You might find the the shutter blades are stuck together do to migrated oil.

    Hello i just purchased a fujica stx-1n . I'm guessing it got damaged in the mail. When i received it the mirror was up and one of the cloth shutter curtains (right curtain from the rear perspective) was stuck. Otherwise its very clean and in good shape. Do you have any tips to get it unstuck? The stuck shutter curtain looks strait so i don't think it slipped off of the rail. I can't seem to find any repair info for this camera anywhere.

    Hello, this is a bit off topic but I have a problem with a wiggling Canon FD mount. All the screws i can see are screwed in but it still sits very loose. Can you help me please or maybe do a video?

    Informative and helpful as always, I really enjoy watching these, you have help fix some minor issues with my cameras. I was wondering if you have advise on a yashicaflex A2 ground glass or mirror replacement, it is very fogging and hard to see when trying to focus.

      Good to hear the FOC videos help. Keep'em going. Maybe the Yashica could be the subject of a future video.

    I have a Canon TX, and I think my film door will not open, although my film reel is still on. Every time I lift it, though, nothing happens. What should I do?

    • @FixOldCameras
      @FixOldCameras  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Underneath the leatherette on the rewind end of the camera are tiny screws holding a cover plate for the door latch.

    Hi, Can you do a squeak repair of Nikon FA?

  • @tomheckhaus7617
    @tomheckhaus7617 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nicely Done. I've opened up many a Yashica TLR and it's always amazing how similar they all are. Was that a "feeler gauge" you used to get under the leatherette or an old thin steel ruler? Thanks Tom

    • @FixOldCameras
      @FixOldCameras  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are similarities. As for what truly does look to be a 0.025mm "feeler" thickness gauge... is an original "multi- purpose tool" - turns out to be a well used carbon steel oil/acrylic painter's palette knife.

    Nice video. Have you ever had to repair, on a Ikoflex Favorit, the upper film guide roller that is always detecting a film? so when you load a new roll of film and close the door, the film wind knob is not properly advancing the film roll until the first frame but directly jump to position 1 when usually it takes 5 complete turns before the first frame is in place.

    • @FixOldCameras
      @FixOldCameras  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes... the counter / advance in these cameras are persnickety.
