On this episode of the #GuitarStoreTour I’m in a lovely location in Iowa called Lidgett Music, and there are a lot of people who look just like me doing stereotypical things of guitar store patrons. From inappropriate reaches for expensive guitars to that one dude who just keeps playing blues licks, these guitar store customer profiles will certainly be people you’ve encountered. Also, newsflash: if you can’t find the guy who’s got way too much volume within the first 5 minutes, you are the guy with way too much volume. I'm the "I really wish I had a private booth to test things in, because I get crippling anxiety that everyone is just focusing on me and judging even though I've been playing 10 years and there are other people playing too." guy.
I get nervous and fuck up when family wants me to play something too, but it went completely away when i tried an electric on a guitar store, I forgot 99% of the songs I knew, but I played 1, and I played it damn well while there was a lot of people just staring at me, someone using drums, and a kid on a bass guitar lol
Where’s the “kid who just started playing, wants to get his first guitar instead of borrowing one, plays super quiet and does a social anxiety turtle retreat when anyone comes by, then marches out of the store in embarrassment”
I’m “the one who really wishes there was a guitar store near him” Edit: Bruh even after a year this comment still gets a fair bit of recognition lol. But anyway thank you all for the likes, it's nice to see people relating to others and sharing their story.
Once in a while I got into a guitar store, a delivery man came in, after he had done with his job there he politely asked someone who was playing the guitar with the effects to lend that guitar, and then he blasted the store with Eddie Van Halen Eruption with a clean Legato trechnique and flawless tapping. What a moment!
I once ran into a weird tremolo guy at a guitar store. I asked what he was playing, and he said, "What does it even mean to 'play' something?" Then he gave me a Crunch bar. It expired in 1992.
Then get you a decent guitar and amp and find some simple lessons on TH-cam! I got my first guitar and amp for Christmas and while it's not a Fender or Gibson because it's my first guitar it's still great quality! Along with the Yamaha GA 10 amp that has knobs for bass, treble, and a button for overdrive. These 2 things combined with some of the extremely simple introductory videos by Marty music, you should get a few simple riffs under your belt in a week or so. It's a long road of course, but if you keep practicing and learning, you'll eventually be a great guitarist, I believe in you. 😁
Does anyone here go into a guitar store, play the guitars, then just leave? Sometimes I buy a pick or a new set of strings, but most of the time I walk out. I wonder if the employees hate that sort of stuff. Oh yeah, I'm the bluesman! I usually mess around using basically the pentoanic minor and that's basically it.
My friend owns a music store and they dont hate guys testing guitars. But they do hate guys who come in,play the guitar and then buy it online or somewhere else😵

I think you hit the nail on the head. As long as you are going in to try out some products and not going in just to show off, then who cares. That's what the stores are there for.
@KingEbin Why the hate over Stairway or Sandman at the store? I'd give anybody a sawbuck if they could play either one fairly well instead of the noise I usually hear and I'm average at best.

It’s not the best plan of action and they really should think about it and research it online first to make their shopping go faster (or heck, just order it online lol) but they don’t so I can understand someone doing something like testing out every single guitar they can. As the guy who was “the super awesome sweep picking master” for a few years until I finally realized my intense fits of pain that made me wish I could just die were coming from my guitar and realized I can never play a guitar again because screw that.... He goes in quietly, gets the guitar, ignores someone’s request to show he can play a couple chords, leaves, and goes home and practices.

Pro tip: you should try alternate tunings if you're seriously thinking about buying a guitar to see if you like the tuners & how the guitar reacts. And yes I'm the constantly tuning guy lol
whenever I'm at a guitar store I'll just play regular simple licks and bends, and the guitars are ALWAYS going out of tune. Idk if it's because the guitars have been sitting around for long with old strings and what not, but even $1000+ guitars won't hold their tune if i do a simple whole step bend.
@@dansands6363 Probably the opposite, the strings are new and haven't been properly "broken in". That tends to happen when you get a new set of strings.
Funny story I was at a guitar store and there was this cool line 6 amp. I didn’t know how those amps worked since it was all digital and crap. So for some reason the amp wouldn’t work and then all of a sudden I play a note and bam the amp starts working and the note rings out at full volume. So embarrassing 😭 😢 😢

Maybe they will but hey, how does what a stranger thinks of u affect your life in any way? I too have social anxiety but after I learned the important skill of not giving a fuck I'm doing okay now.
Quite some time ago, I was the hand him the expensive artist signature model. I've always played a mix of chords, riffs and runs on different settings of the guitar and amp. Way more important to get a feel for a guitar, and learn it's character than to rip out some crazy stuff, unless you're just there playing around, then rip away!

IYB MA36 what song is it
Río ancho by Paco de Lucía
@@hectorparks8618 Mediterranean Sundance - Al Di Meola feat. Paco Del Lucia
The guy who gets too cocky on the Floyd, breaks strings and casually puts the guitar back on the shelf.
2:00 when you first get your whammy bar
For sure the bluesman and the way too much volume guy
1:00 i loved that you played the Battery
Trem guy tune pretty chill tho
I'm the guy that is too nervous to enter a guitar shop because I'm not very good at guitar and I feel like the employees will just get that vibe from me
Maybe they will but hey, how does what a stranger thinks of u affect your life in any way? I too have social anxiety but after I learned the important skill of not giving a fuck I'm doing okay now.
I guess I have to be able to play Through Fire and Flames before entering a guitar store
It’s like 5 in the morning and that song the tremolo guy was playing was kinda scary
whats the song on 1:00

Why?
Im probably the "perfect pitch guy that tunes the guitar instantly".
when i saw the weird trem guy i thought of steve vai......
Dude, all Steve Vai does is playing million notes per second. He has no feel.
@@xsvop14 while playing with his whammy bar ofcourse
why is this actually incredibly relaxing?
Note for note perfect...you mean, playing the guitar well?
This is entirely too accurate!
Im sadly the weird tremolo bar guy minus the faces. Man do I love good tremolo bar
So that covers everybody who wants to buy a guitar!
You are crazy fellow you crack me up man that’s funny, especially me in one👍🏼👍🏼🎸😀😎
I am “The blues player who only knows the lick”
I am weird tremolo bar girl and I am proud.
