- My 2005 Dodge Power Wagon on Golden Crack in Moab, UT during the 4th Annual Power Wagons in Moab Event.
Stock Power Wagon except the 35" BFG KM2s. Tires had roughly 18 PSI in them, the front swaybar was disconnected and lockers engaged.
Check out • Power Wagons at the Go... for SilverWagon05's crossing of Golden Crack in his Power Wagon.
my wife has a golden crack, but its not in utah
Solid front, locking diffs, integrated winch, tons of flex.....gotta love the pw
Hate you can get solid axle in 3rd gen 1500, legit only reason i got a 2500
My step-dad had a '71 Power Wagon with the slant six and a granny gear that would pull Mount Everest at idle and never break a sweat. Fantastic piece of machinery!
happy
was there ever any doubt ? its a power wagon keeping its tradition from older times when trucks were real trucks and men werent pampered mama,s boys
Please... That's a peace of shit.
Anthony Rodriguez no facts to back your comment ???
Anthony Rodriguez would you like me to give Harry some facts?

"Most Dangerous Car In America"
It's the titleno automaker wants to have, but was given to the Dodge Ram by 24/7 Wall St, a financial publication that put together a list of the worst cars on the road based on testing scores from the insurance institute for highway safety, consumer reports, the nationalhighway transportation and safety administration and consumer analyst J.D Power
The Ram 1500, a long-standing high-selling pickup truck in the U.S, has a safety track record that "has long been unimpressive", said 24/7 Wall St, noting poor crash test results, also scoreda poor 2/5 from J.D Powers initial study.
In second place was the CHEVROLET COLORADO CREW CAB, which earned poor side impact grades and marginal grades for rollover, along with a RECALL last year due to seatbelt safety concerns
Mazda vehicles took an ignominious third and fourth place in the study with the CX-7 and CX-9
No europp
ean automakers found themselves among the worst-scoring seven models which contained three U.S made cars and four Japanese made models.
America's most dangerous cars
1. Dodge Ram
2. CHEVROLET COLORADO SUPER CAB
3. Mazda CX-7
4. Mazda CX-9
5. Nissan Pathfinder
6. Jeep Wrangler
7. Suzuki SX-4
these facts come from reputable sources reported to us by The New York Daily News
P.S I didn't pull these facts out of my ass
Great job by the driver, spotter, AND camera man.
Total respect for some who actually take their Power Wagon wheeling.
It is amazing what locker and 4 low can do .
so beautiful to watch suspension in action, so few trucks have a chance to even flex through a small 8" ditch let alone rub opposite corners of the truck,, great spotter, and good run
Interesting point, but where I think we're missing each other is that I am proud of my nice truck. It's my daily driver, road trip runner, camping trip popup hauler, furniture mover, family mountain bikes, ski and snowboard, SCUBA tank and everything else hauler. Because it's my primary vehicle that I am very careful wheeling it. I'm not into thrashing my truck. It's a 2005 and I've been wheeling this sort of stuff the day I bought it. I think you can appreciate it's still in great condition
No doubt. Trust me. Getting super tippy in a nearly 40,000 dollar truck provides plenty of adrenaline along with sucking most of the vinyl off your seats because your bunghole has puckered up to a near singularity!
Oh thank god he made it! What a miracle!
Nice! I had no idea Power Wagons wheeled like this!
maybe a little bit of a lift like 6 to 12 inches and it would be unstopable
TheBossGuy1 well that Powerwagon would have to pull it out and hold its hand to get back home.
RYANVISION should i
Rent
They do, we have the same truck but in PBT Blue and its bad ass for off road.
Anyone see the upside down joker face in the rock?
i am not a dodge fan. but they did make those power wagons perfect for your mild to moderate wheelers. if you don't like this video, why are you watching them? trolling for attention is pathetic. as long you you have fun who the hell cares
awesome driving and awesome truck, i'm bored watching trail only tube trucks go off road. its refreshing to see daily drivers do the tough trails. RESPECT!
Thanks for giving him a good answer and not just calling him out on it. Not everyone knows all the details and I really hate seeing people call each other dumb asses for asking a good question.
what a freaking beast. no other production truck could come close to that. Nice xj too.
Absolutely sick!! I just joined the PW club and can't wait to get 35's on it and start some serious wheeling!
That's some killer flex for a full stock truck. I'm a huge fan of Power Wagons... and this is coming from a lifted Tacoma driver.
I have a 2005 Power Wagon with the HEMI but in PBT Blue. The truck is a beast at everything.
i gotta give props to your spotter! but I've been in that crack 5-6 times and must admit pretty impressive to see a fullsize do it so gracefullly.
For a stock stance; very impressed! Also props to the spotter too! Hell yeah!!!
Those lockers sure make a huge difference
thats badass that dodge took the challenge and did it like a champ, good job guys
Something about this video was really cool I’m not sure what because I’ve seen a lot of these but this was really really fun to watch
honestly i was skeptical of a truck in moab, but i was impressed, good job
its nice having factory lockers isnt it. im currently looking for a set of power wagon axles for my 2000 wj. best factory axles out there. but really lockers make the difference.
Wish I could afford a new one, I'm rocking a 78 PW and I like it.
I can tell you have never been rock crawling!!!!! pure fun!!
Im impressed! Love seeing plan old stock stuff get threw crap! Nice job guides...
See-Saw, Power Wagon has it all, you navigated Golden Crack with no damage. Nice driving (and Spotting.)
Looked it up: According to the Build&Price feature on the manufacturer's website the 2012 models 2500 Power Wagon, Power Wagon ST and Power Wagon Laramie are only available with the 5.7-Liter V8 VVT engine and the automatic 66RFE transmission. The other models can be ordered with the 6.7-Liter I6 Cummins and a manual 6-speed.
To make it simple: If it's a Power Wagon, under the hood is a Hemi!
Let's see, 117,000 miles, replaced the brake pads at 110K even though the rears were still in good shape, changed the spark plugs at 70K, replaced a failed transfer case position sensor at 93K, change my oil every 10K miles and have it analyzed each time at Blackstone Labs who report the oil looks great and indicates no abnormal engine wear. I'm a crazy man! Tearin' it up baby! Seriously, if you don't have a clue, why bother commenting?
no it does NOT mess with the alighment at all.the sole surpose of the sway bar is for body roll. its very common to disconnect the sway bar to let the front axle have more travel for rock climbing and off roading.
long live solid axles
Serious respect for ya, thats no easy task for a truck, thought the bed was going to be scrapped off
It was about 18 - 20 PSI IIRC. If you haven't already, check out PowerWagonRegistry. It's a registry for our trucks to find others in your area to wheel with as well as our forum.
i have to say im not a big fan of must trucks, but that thing handled it like a boss. your guide did a good job as well.
When I first saw that truck sitting on the other side, I thought "who the hell would wheel a big ass cumbersome truck like that?" Well I'm impressed!!! I totally forgot it had a solid front axle... nice articulation.
Nice job!! Didn't expect a stock truck to make that. Very comendable.
You are asking a question that is comparing apples to oranges, to put it simply. The Power Wagon is just another variant of the Dodge Ram. It's a package that includes a handful of upgrades that make the truck more capable off road. A Cummins is just a diesel engine that is offered in Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups/chassis cabs.
It's pretty much like anything else. Skydiving, river rafting, kayaking, bungy jumping, skydiving etc. Being able to conquer an obstacle and then drive 1,200 miles home without having any serious carnage. Yes, there's risk, but so is drifting, racing etc. It's being able to do it and then go home without a broke vehicle.
Not quite flat. Between 18-20PSI. Airing down gives you much better grip with the tires as they can mold around the rocks giving you a larger contact patch. Also works great in heavy sand allowing you to float more above the sand rather than digging big troughs.
Great job, that was incredibly smooth. Excellent driving, spotting and teamwork. I've had hairy moments in my LR where when after I made it out and thought back to it, I wondered how in the hell I would have made it out and undamaged if I wouldn't have been lucky enough to have a good spotter than knew how to effectively communicate. Keep it up and been safe.
Thats impressive not even a wheel off the ground
Who's says you can't get adrenaline with this? People get their adrenaline flowing doing beer pong.
For a stock truck that thing flexes nice! Good driving!
Dang!! That Dodge is a beast
Nothing better then the good old third generation rams.
This needs to be a test for all trucks when they build new ones. If they cant make it then they are junk. lol Great vid!!
There's lemons with every manufacturer. I'll repost what I posted earlier. I'm currently at 117,000 miles, replaced the brake pads at 110K even though the rears were still in good shape, changed the spark plugs at 70K, replaced a failed transfer case position sensor at 93K, change my oil every 10K miles and have it analyzed each time at Blackstone Labs who report the oil looks great and indicates no abnormal engine wear. I had a 1500 RAM before that with no issues at 65K, then it was stolen...
great video man i love the power wagons
difference is they come stock with bigger tires (35" BFGs i believe) some tougher skids, sits a bit higher, better suspension, and theres a few other small touches i believe. Oh and its built on a 2500 chassis not a standard 1500
I've always been a Dodge fan.
The Ford Raptor and the Dodge Power Wagon best trucks on the market
that is some serious articulation right there. does that power wagon have the sway bar disconnect like the newer 2010? and front and rear lockers? looks like it does but the air down looks kinda scary looked like rim on the ground on the back tires
Dude that was some awesome rock crawling... Very impressing
what a beast for stock! also, those rears are helllllla aired down
Impressive, for such a big, long, heavy truck! Wow!
Sweet! I like the aux lights behind the grill.
that was awesome. Those 35" tires - did you just throw them on the stock rims? No other mods required to make them fit?
nice job, and I like the stock look, you don't have to jack it up to the sky and buy a $10,000 wheel/tire combo. this thing can spend a saturday doing that and take the family to Church the next day...nice!
I may be a Ford guy but this is pretty damn impressive.
wow that was some really good driving
That was the best thing I've seen a dodge do 0_0
Even though your comments has a lot of thumbs down, I agree. My wrangler goes places truck will never dare go
Man, your spotter gets geometry...and other stuff I cannot name but kinda get, but probably not as well as he.
pretty SICK! when your truck can do that
Dude love the vid. great show case of what the pw is capable of. I cant wait to get mine out on the trail and get her nice and broken in. I got mine about 2 weeks ago. What psi did you have your tires set at for that.
That's team work right there.
Well DONE!
man, the only reson i clicked on this video was to see the jokes about "golden crack" and there isnt a single one :(
u know just where to put that shit!! so proud. i am a big dodge fan. luv it man
The little Dodge that could
Great spotter, nice truck!
just regisistred. good to know that there is another new mexican here. I am from abq as well. Active duty army stationed on kirtland afb.
Yeah, the owner rode out with one of the other vehicles in their group and ran back to town for some parts. Not sure what time they got out of there that night though.
woulda never made it without the commentary from the camera man. ;) nah he did good though i wouldnt expect that truck to do so well. sweet
I think many vehicles could do it, but this PW did impress me. Darn nice driving. Now did you try Rusty Nail after that? Golden Crack is deceiving. It's a pretty challenging obstacle.
dayum Ive seen some rigged up vehicles do some crazy stuff but this near stock or stock power wagon just owned that crack lol, this one had alot to do with driver skill + the guy who was helping him direct it... pretty nuts though!
Really any pickup with a lift and off-road tires could've done that but it was still cool tho
Hunt Guy Let's see the video. To my knowledge, there hasn't been a full-sized truck before or since that has been able to cross it aside from a Power Wagon.
Leif Gregory
oh shit ive personally seen them go through way harder obstacles plus it really depends on the driver and spotter if there is one
ArmadoaArevaip
Are the power wagons locked up? I see you said it's stock, but thats really impressive if it did it wide open.
sweet man, I have some cheap Aux lights behind the grill and it seems to be a nice location. Props on the awesome vid and truck
For a minute, I thought your truck's bumper was going to eat ground. Lol.
Eventually when those stock bumpers get thrashed I'll put some custom prerunner type for more approach and departure angle. I've been wheeling this truck like I do in this vid since I bought it in 2006 and they're still holding up. The rock sliders are an optional stock item you can get from the factory. Or at least you used to be able to. You can't get them as an option anymore.
For sale: Nice Dodge Power Wagon. Never been off road. Barely broke in, driven by an 80 year old man to church and back.
What are you talking about? It's simple physics. A vehicle built to withstand a certain environment or obstacle will handle that environment or obstacle. The Power Wagon is designed on heavy duty frame with solid axles, 4WD, I think 4.88 gears, locking diffs, and a taller ride height. Put those on a Ford, and it will handle in a similar manner. I love ignorance.
Thats awesome. I noticed there was no body flex at all, Well built truck.
The power wagon is based on the 2500 not the 1500. It has a 2" lift, 12,000lb winch, rear LSD with e-locker, front diff e-locker, steel skid plates/bars and elec disconnect front sway bar (rock rails on the 05, 06 and some 07's?). The amount of weight that the skid plates and winch w/ bracket add is quite high the payload on a 1500 would have been very low, kinda useless for a truck. Also for the clearance and flex they wanted to achieve the 2500 solid axle platform is a better choice.
I can't believe he pulled it off!
Good job!!! And the frame did'nt even flex hardly at all thats pretty damn impresive for a full size.
Holy articulation batman!
holy crap i am impressed! would love to see a reg cab power wagon
No, that's with the front sway bar disconnected.
sorry i was
wrong but ive seen them with the cummins before and thats were i got that from im not sure what year
Great video, now I am about to sound like a tool and ask what is the difference between the powerwagon and a standard 1500 RAM ? p.s I'm not from america, hence my lack of knowledge.
@dodgeperformance1 all modern power wagons from 05 up have it.same for the lockers front and rear, and 10k winch.in fact the '10 is using the same hardware as the 05,just the newer body style is used
Too cool by a stock full-size truck. High clearance front and rear bumpes next?
Now that is flex... awesomeness!!
We use narrow tires on soft sand. Might sound stupid, but the car is actually easier and better to drive.
Yep, 35x12.50P17LT BFG KM2s.... Why you think they aren't?
Oil changes every 10K? What kind of oil do you use? How much does an oil analysis cost?
