This song takes on an even greater meaning knowing that their Dad Richard (Dick) Finn, passed away a couple of days ago, joining their Mum, Mary. Thank you both, for leaving the world such treasure, in the form of your children. Godspeed, and may you Rest in Peace. "Once in a while I return to the fold, to the people I call my own. Even if time is just a flicker of light And we all have to die alone. What does it mean when You belong to someone, When you're born with a name, And you carry it on. It means that I won't give in, Won't give in, Won't give in..." Condolences to Neil, Tim, and all of the Finn family. We stand with you.
These two are a one of a kind. Some of the most natural harmonic voices in music history, along with Simon and Garfunkel. Honoured to be listening to them for over 25 yrs.
One of the greatest joy's in music is Tim Finn accompanying his baby brother. If you listen enough Tim actually sings a micro second behind Neil...like a wee echo. He always does it and it is always awesome.
Some of Tim's finest songs were a memorial to the awful depression he suffered over the years, something most of us have endured at some stage to some degree, but few faced with such courage.
Absolutely stunning it hurts ! Brings tears to my eyes. It touches so many emotions a feat that few artists achieve. I will love these guys and Crowded House as long as I have ears to listen and a heart that beats.

yup and when they also brought in Paul Hester & Nick Seymour to harmonise, it was something to behold indeed, even with out Tim for that matter, as good as The Beatles....nearly...
They’re the most consummate musicians, the second greatest band after the Beatles. Their work is so profoundly beautiful and melodic and uplifting. Saw them live a year ago and my husband and I agreed it was probably the best live performance we’d ever experienced. I’ve loved them since days after the death of my mother when their music lifted me up 34 years ago.
Me too!! There’s NO ruling in existence that states that IF one choose to move and maybe “dance” and move that the now famous ‘Happy Dance’ is the only dance anyone should learn how to do and display. As long as you can clap your hands, take a small footstep forward or backward or in ANY direction your are capable of dancing. If blinking your eyes is the maximum movement you are capable of performing you are STILL capable of dancing!! Listen up to the music that comes your way and try to catch its rhythm and worry NOT about about doing what is now famously recognized as a Happy Dance A Sad dance or Frightened dance of a ‘I Don’t Understand WTF is Going On’ dance still qualifies as Dancing IMHO. Even ‘thinking’ with no demonstrable physical movement is dancing!! I am very late to suddenly just discover this song but I do love it. What did I do when I heard it? Dance!!
this lifted the roof off the olympia theatre in dublin when they toured it,there was a standing ovation for about 3mins i never seen anything like it,s still a very special memory
This song grooved and rocked MY BRAINS IN!! Having said that, I've viewed this clip several times, scanning the audience for THEIR response - for crissake people this ain't a Perry Como concert! Sitting there like they're back in a college lecture hall. I mean, I couldn't find one person getting off on this number, yet you couldn't tell by the applause afterward. C'mon now!
Wowww, I was always curious as to how Neil and Liam resembled each other. I couldn't see until now @ 1:29. Liam's facial expression is identical to Neil's.
Saw split enz with naked suits on at elder park, adelaide. I was 13, I laughed & loved Then, pooraka hotel & I knew crowded were on their way. Ty, I put this on my Twitter site. I hope this is okay. It's just beautiful. I didn't think about problems. I'll remove it, if it is not a good thing to do.
These guys grew up down the road from me I remember seeing Niel at at jam sessions in barns throughout winter as a teenager, then having to spend all my pocket money to go see them play at the Mount in summer when we where 18
Thanks for this song . I used it as remembrance for a grand old lady Myra Walsh. A great matriarch of the walsh , kirner, and Longdin family . It fitted in well with her passing and last days. Luv u Nana Walshy always
Thanks so much for posting these Ty! Made my day. I bought the album this year some time, but seeing them perform is adds so much! Love the Finn Brothers!!
Oh wow thank you so much for posting all of this :D It's so nice to seen Neil and Paul together again too, and Tim and (I assume) Liam. Almost the whole family :)
The drummer is Jeremy Stacey and the lead guitarist/keyboardist is Paul Stacey. These brothers are the best musicians!!! They are Brits and their bios are available on-line. It is appropriate that they linked up with the Finn Brothers for the Max Session. Have you noticed that they sound better live than on the CD? That is amazing. See "Finn Brothers Max Sessions"
Jack Smith This you'll not believe but I was literally wondering who the two rocked-out David Mitchells actually were (I kid you not!) ... Thank you!!!!!
The Stacey brothers toured with Neil and Tim for the entire Everyone Is Here Tour in 2004-2005, but did not play on the studio album. Had a chance to meet them in Auckland after the last show of the tour. Very nice gentlemen.
Tim, Neil and Split Enz Deserve to be inducted into the RR Hall Of Fame, Full Stop!
Absolutfucking yes!!! Voices of angels!! Such amazing talent.
Without a doubt... two innovative musicians, who just happen to have unending talents..
Why the fuck are they not already? They are a gift to music.
You are forgetting Crowded House....
@@michaellear6904 the US liked them, but didn't appreciate them like they were in Aus/NZ/UK/Europe.
Is this the best session that Tim & Neil have ever done, i think so. Great line up.
This beautiful song stopped me dead in my tracks.... Incredible!
Agree. One of Australia's best

This is a lovely comment.

It’s especially poignant when you consider that they also lost Split Enz and Crowded House drummer Paul Hester to depression.
I wouldn't say MOST people have suffered real depression.
Tim composed Split Enz’ “Six Months in a Leaky Boat” following a particularly bad period of depression.
@@lindadoteI didn’t know that but now I do the song & title makes sense!

Your heart felt response is genuinely moving. Thank you.
I feel exactly the same. The artistry here is like an arrow through my soul.

love this song SO very much :)
I’m not a massive fan. But there’s something about this song. Reminds me of happy times, living in Wellington, saw them live and they were amazing.
Cuba street. Molly malones. Radio hauraki. Office cricket and beers at 5pm on a Friday. Great times.
Fucking hell, this is great. The electric guitar and drums at the end add so much. Love it
just too beautiful... thank you for this gift.
I saw them in Manchester on this very tour it was the most moving and intimate thing i had ever seen.

Nothing, but nothing, can beat the harmonies of the Finn brothers on this most stupendous song, which I think is about the death of their Mum.
