...went to see Crowded House on the 'Woodface' tour in about '91 in Ipswich...didn't realise at the time who the support act was...it was Tim who'd just left the band...

I love Neil and Tim and their extended family of musicians and friends.
So sad that Paul took his life not long after this.
Makes me emboldened to talk to friends and family who are depressed, and PRESS them regarding their state of mind.
And to press them to come closer, and to shed the dark cloak of sadness, in favor of the bright coat of cheer, friendship, and family.

yes, I've been a split enz, finn brothers, crowded hse admirer for many, many years. I was very sorry to hear of Paul Hester's passing, I hope he is at peace.
I remember seeing them at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the day after Hess left us and it was touch and go as to whether the gig would go ahead. It was beyond any doubt, the most emotionally intense and memorable gig that I've ever seen or probably ever will see. A lot of us had no idea why it felt so different but just that if you could stick your tongue out, there was something so charged in the atmosphere, you could have tasted it. My most treasured gig memory, bar none.

Tim's voice was sadly not loud enough to really appreciate the brothers duo. I cannot understand how the mix ingenior made that mistake.
