    @Kyle this is a great video and brought back memories of being a wife to a Master Chief Master Diver and the tight community it was then and maybe still is. My husband went to Master Diver School in Panama City Beach. His name and many others I was friends with have their names on the wall at the dive school. I had a girlfriend who was one of the first female divers and was stationed at Pearl Harbor Sub Base. I love the video.

    Great vid. I've been doing PST's for ND for 3 weeks now, and I've been practicing treading with weights and fins. Is there another exercise you'd recommend to further prepare for Selection? Also, in Selection and Dive School, what were the things that threw you off the most, things that some candidates fail at or quit during? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

      @@Capcoor Technically inaccurate, too much Hollywood. The scene where he has to walk unassisted in a MkV helium rig is bogus. That would NEVER happen in real life. Also the scene where they're looking for the lost atomic bomb and the diver's umbilical gets caught in the submarine's fin is wrong. No submarine captain would bring his submarine into that shallow of water. No room to maneuver... And IRL, Brashear didn't find the weapon. It was too deep for diving. It was eventually located with a manned research submersible.

    What are the requirements before you can join this rate ?

    • @Kyle_Friedlander
      @Kyle_Friedlander  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dive physical and medical has to be squared away. PST is the minimum physical requirements to get in. 500yd swim combat side stroke in under 12:30, 50 pushups perfect form, 50 situps over knees perfect form, 6 deadhang pullups, then a 1.5 mile run under 12:30. Talk to a recruiter about getting an ND contract and see what they can do for you

      More. Now im not a SEAL so ill tread lightly. SEALs use diving as a means to the ends whereas NDs live underwater. Its a different operation set, whereas a SEAL might be trained in open and closed circuit rigs ( mostly closed rebreathers), SDV AND DDS, and more tactical stuff, NDs go into extreme depth into diving and learn hardhat, salvage, stage diving, husbandry, etc.
