Thank you so much for sharing your story, your illustrations and your journey . I am 50 as of July and I’ve decided I’m going to start a TH-cam channel as well. You and I have a very similar story as where as I was always into art growing up and was raised by a generation who told you, you can’t make money being an artist so then you choose something else but your heart and passion is still stuck on art so you don’t really succeed in what you do daily Because you’re stuck between two worlds. I just uploaded my first “ just start” video. Our channels will be very similar I guess that’s how I came across your channel last week. Your content is very informative and transparent. I love it. I love that you are succeeding. Very encouraging
My mom told me the same...."Draw and create as a hobby, you're really good at it, but you'll never be able to make a real living with it." AARRGGHH! I regret believing her all those years ago and spent most of my life job hoping. I'm finally...hopefully...at a point in my life that I'm able to take a few risk with low start up cost ventures. At the moment I'm recovering from a total knee replacement, which gives me a bit more time to peruse the internet and learn new things, feed the imagination and toss ideas around. I'm excited about my future, whatever it might hold. ❤
@kimberlyd74 That’s amazing, congrats on your channel! There is more than enough room for everyone at the TH-cam table! We can all support each other! ❤️🙌🏻
Congratulations on 5000+ subscribers.🎉 I really love your quick sketches that you showed in your sketchbook and personally I really don’t mind the no/suggested faces. They are basically “gesture drawings”. Thanks for sharing your journey. You are doing great and you’re inspiring others!
Love the idea of the three-pack bridal celebration cards! I hope you get to do live illustrations sometime and that you video parts of those events. People who can do that amaze me!!! Your sketches/illustrations (which look like masterpieces to me) are fabulous!!! And always fun and interesting to see others' analytics. So happy for your success, Michelle!! (Oh, and yes, Martha Stewart... she's done amazing things in her business. I keep seeing an ad for her master class or whatever, and she said she started when she was 50 years old... so encouraging!!! OMG, I just keep watching and commenting.... seeing you erase digitally is hypnotizing. 😂😂
Thanks Kari! Yes, I love Martha, she is such a great example of just getting started in your 50’s! Drawing and erasing on my iPad has become a very relaxing activity for me. It’s almost like an adult colouring book, lol. 😊
I’m the same, with years of being an illustrator, born with the talent, self taught and also going to art school and fashion school as well as having a mother as a realist artist (also naturally gifted) I’m still learning to be “loose”. I love Brooke Hagel’s illustration style, they are so playful and sweet. I’ve always drawn faces but struggle with illustrating a face on a figure in A5 format. I see why many event illustrators don’t do faces.
I don’t know why being “loose” is so hard, lol. I will keep trying until I can figure it out. In the meantime I think I also need to embrace the fact that I’m naturally inclined to draw more detailed and embrace that in my style. Either way, I’ll just keep at it. Thanks for watching! 😊
Thanks for sharing your honest video’s. If you would like to develop a looser style, try sketching with ballpoint so you can’t erase, and just draw what comes to mind. Because it’s the fear of imperfection that’s taking away the spontaneity and the love. Draw for the trashcan so to speak. If you would like to know more, just ask.
Keep up the great work. It’s nice that you share the “messy” work. Makes you more relatable. ❤
Haha, thanks! I’m definitely feel like a hot mess trying to keep it real. 😆
I enjoyed this and I too LOVE Martha Stewart. She's such an inspiration.
Martha is the best! 😎

It’s hard to be loose because you are trying to be perfect at the same time. There is an easy way to become lose.
I think the bride and groom you drew on the ipad are so cute! Have you considered a grey or pink line for the weddingdress? Or perhaps a thinner line?
Great suggestion, it would soften it up a bit. 😊
Thanks for sharing your honest video’s.

Thanks for the tips! I will try that. I definitely tend to overthink it, lol. 😊
What type of pad are you drawing on that allows you to erase like that? TIA
I’m using an iPad Pro 12.9” with the 2nd gen Apple Pencil and the Procreate app. All of my favourite things! ❤️
This isn't related to this video but any tips on creating an intro video for TH-cam videos with music would be greatly appreciated.
I’ll see what I can do. 😊
