Thank you, Michelle, for this information. I'm 75 and considering starting my channel with silent vlogs about my textile art to see where does it takes me. I live alone, and even if I make two videos a month, it seems like a lot of work. You've confirmed it. 😊
Honestly, I love watching silent videos. Its relaxing to watch artist create. It would be nice to have more of these channels. I’ll be your first subscriber 🎉😊
Great video, I'm 60, full time van life guy. Started a channel 3 weeks ago about my mindful lifestyle and it seems to be a hit! Over 600 subs and growing . But it's the comments and emails that inspire me. Really appreciate your honesty in what it's paid you, so many yt creators don't do that . Stay awesome 👍🏼
Thank you for being honest and real about TH-cam growth! I started my sewing channel a few months ago and am so excited for my 485 subs so far! I’m not in it for the money, but to share excitement about sewing.
This is great information. Thanks for taking the time to share. Some valuable insights to be discovered here. Love the idea of having animals in the video cos I love seeing animails in video. Also the sharing of personal information is of great value. Well done. Hope you get great rewards.
Thank you for your video as I'm new and am committed to post weekly. My channel is all about marketing in the online space. I subscribed and can't wait to see the rest of your content. Thanks again!
I love this, Michelle. It’s always interesting to hear different observations and experiences about these things. I love the idea of starting a channel, however consistency would be an issue for me. To be honest, I skip over a lot of those perfect looking lifestyle channels, they just don’t feel very authentic to me as they’re so heavily filtered, staged and edited. Good luck to them, I’m happy they’re successful but I much prefer real ones like yours where the viewer feels more connected with the maker.
A lot of good advice. I watch vids on restoring diecast cars. And you look at the ones with the big channels they have the beautiful hobby rooms with all the nice stuff or set out nicely. Not that their contents is any better than the others sometimes the other videos have better content but their hobby rooms look dodgy. It doesn't bother me but when you look at the other videos, but even I think they got this beautiful setup you just think wow. And your spot on about the sound I reached out to TH-cam because he spoke so quietly that I couldn't hear and three times I reached out to him and three times he told me ways how I could fix it on my end. I thought to myself I can't be the only one who's having trouble. And stupid things like we're headphones or watch it through a computer like I unsubscribed to his channel. 12 months later he guest on another TH-camrs channel and I just said to that TH-camr oh I used to watch him, I told him what happened and after that the guy did fix up his sound but sometimes these TH-camrs think they are gurus or something. And any video I watch and the talking away and next thing they have this blaring music I don't care what they're talking about I refuse to watch and I'll never watch another one of their videos. You watching videos at 12:00 at night and all your families asleep and then next thing this music blaring away so annoying. Cheers Graham
Thanks for your comment Graham. You definitely need to listen when viewers give feedback on your channel. It can be very helpful. But I guess you can’t help the ones that don’t want it. lol. 😊
I've been doing TH-cam videos for over 10 years now and still not monetized. I posted consistently every week for 7 years and burned out and felt like I was forcing myself to just create something so that I would have something to post, so I took a break for a while. I have returned to posting videos of things I am creating, but not forcing it anymore, if I have something to post great, if not then I don't worry about it. I may never get monetized, but it doesn't matter anymore, I just enjoy creating and sharing what I create with other that are interested in seeing it.
Appreciate you sharing! We’re three months in and are having a blast. Growth is slow, but it is growth and I keep reminding myself of that. We are learning so much.
These are all really good observations. I mentally went through the channels I watch and all of them hit at least 1 or even 2 of the 'these videos will be watched more.'
I’m 50 and have been working on my YT channel for a couple of years and it’s been very slow growth. At 781 subs and only half the watch hours to get monetised. I struggle to create and post content weekly which explains the slow growth. My channel is in the travel & lifestyle niche. I am determined to make it my full time job and prove my dad wrong 😂 It is disheartening to not get the results you are wanting with all the time and effort that goes into making one video but I will just keep chipping away as it’s all a learning curve.
over 40! lol Babies! I have 3 channels and I'm 'well over' 50. It's my full time job. Love it. I'll keep posting even from my grave. I'll run a live stream from my coffin as I decay :)
You are spot on about the animals! I have paid more attention to one of my husband’s sports commentary videos because the guy has this huge orange cat. Even the comments are stacked with cat mentions.🐈
Thank you for this video. It was informative and helpful. I have been toying around with creating TH-cam videos since June. My videos are all over the place. Haven’t found my comfort zone yet (niche) but determined to keep at it. It is a lot of work though 😅
Very true about the creative making things aspect i was sculpting steel artworks lots of effort and only a couple hundred views at best , gone a different direction now but not really getting anywhere, I was monetised only make £25 a month lol and now lost it because I couldn’t maintain the hours needed, the low views made me give up for a while it wasn’t worth the time and effort, I give it a chance again
Thanks for sharing! It can be a good tool to bring clients or customers to you if you are selling art or other types of products even if it doesn’t bring in much money itself. Good luck if you pick it up again. 😊
I have 2 channels and ive been saying this all along. The youtube gurus and experts started out in popular niches and Trying to sell a class or coaching thing
I'm just not good at it and feel like I'm wasting my time when I can be doing other things that will pay me money right away like door dash... I don't even get any subscribers lol.
Great video! Is there a certain number of subscribers that you need in order to be monetized? Also, before you were monetized did having this channel help you grow your art business? Love your makeup, you’re very good to listen to.🤍🖤
Thank you! 😊 You need 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time in a 12 month period to be monetized. I actually started this channel at the same time as my art business to document my journey and what I am learning. It personally has not helped me with art sales but it has helped me grow a community of like minded creatives which I love! 🥰

Glad it was helpful! I still think it’s fun to make videos if you have the time. You can try it and see how you feel. You might enjoy the process. 😊

That’s exciting, keep going! That is the right attitude to have as you create videos. Wishing you monetization in 2025! 🤗❤️

I think I saw somewhere you need 1000 subscribers.
