  • Rotation of the pelvis is one of five strategies to increase gait efficiency (conservation of energy.)
    Ideally, your pelvis rotates 3-4 degrees in each direction when walking casually. The amount of turning increases as we walk faster.
    Did you know?
    The maximum rotation occurs not at the heel strike but after the initial contact of the heel when the ball of the foot and toes land on the ground. From that moment on, the pelvis starts to rotate in the opposite direction. Such pelvic rotations assist us with the advancement of the swinging leg.
