Since people kept asking how I did it, I used a cheat code provided by Suddendesu to have MAME load the English text and the satAM Robotnik sprites. Here's the link to the cheat code file, complete with instructions on how to put them to work on MAME.
www.mediafire.com/file/wwt2yw8pkn8vmau/SegaSonic_satAM_Robotnik_%2526_ENG_Translation_cheat.zip/file
But you didn't change it at 0:16 and 0:22
@@MrIzaiah2007YT There's no Robotnik satAM sprite for that part specifically sadly.
@@MrMariobros222 1. If they intend to have it be completely SatAM Robotnik, those sprites would've been removed.
2. Is there a translated version with just regular Eggman?
You can open the cheat file with Notepad and remove the Robotnik SatAM sprite cheat to use the English translation while keeping the original Eggman sprite in the game. They're both separate cheats in one file. MAME should have the option to turn on or off a cheat code, but most of the time, It's always turned on, so deleting the cheat code inside the file should do the trick. @@robbiewalker2831
Saturday morning Robotnik in this game: “The game isn’t over until the hedgehog screams!”
Damn, the game would be over in the first second.
@@eia24 yeah cuz sonic screamed multiple times
I wonder if this was the reason why Mighty and Ray were in the Archie Comics, did they have an adaptation of SegaSonic.
I think I remember something like that from a comic dub where Mighty teams up with Nic the Weasel!
@@gabeheartz13saravia97they sort've did. They didn't have a full comic adaptation of this game, but they did allude to the events of this game in a brief flashback backstory of how Sonic knew who Mighty and Ray were.
This game ABSOLUTELY deserves an Arcade1up release for sure, especially with the ability to swap between Eggman’s classic and SATAM designs, along with Sonic the Fighters and the Mega Play versions of Sonic 1 & 2 being added so it’s not just one game
They is a mistake because, in the intro it still uses the og game sprites for robotnik capturing the character(s) 0:16
That would be hella cool if they did that
It's such a shame this game didn't get an international release. If they released this with English voice acting, I could see this being a big hit. I mean, sure, it's not a masterpiece, but if I was a kid in the 90s and saw this, I definitely would have poured some quarters into it.
The fact that they used adventures from sonic the hedgehog robot Nick doesn’t make sense the Japanese robot Nick would’ve made more sense
@@idaholana What do you mean?, japanese Eggman was almost never use in the western media, even Sonic the Comic was obligated to turn Robonick into his look of the cartoons when they came out to make him more in line whit the general view of the time.
Actually fun fact this game did get an international release but they just used the Japanese cabinet
@@Slickioka Yeah i do remenber the amercian graphics when unused, all of the changes for Eggman into Robotnick that are shown in video where in the original room but was unused.
Imagine if a Arcade1Up cabinet featuring this game solo with the 3 player action was made and released
Probably might feature Sonic Championship (Sonic The Fighters) to both be playable. Cause they do their stuff in compilations.
@@hunterkrovac Yea Sonic The Fighters could be included as long as it has enough buttons and stuff for the game
@@FRENCHRobloxYT I know the Sega Ages versions of Sonic 1 & 2 have the Mega Play versions, but it’d be cool to have those as well
@@FRENCHRobloxYTthe Simpsons cabinet had the trackball included for the Simpsons bowling game along with 4 control sticks and buttons for the main game. It could be done. 3 trackballs, and 2 joysticks for both arcade Sonic games. Maybe include the MegaPlay version of Sonic 1&2 as well as a bonus.
9:46 I'm reminded of Looney Tunes.
80% of this games sound; “WAHHHHH!?!”
Now we need SatAM or AoSTH style voice acting and this will be perfect
Jaleel White and Jim Cummings voice samples but crushed for the arcade, love that idea.
@@daseal1479 but I like the WAAAAAAA
@@MJGaming57_REAL How about replacing it with Jaleel's usual WHOOOOAAAA
@@ScatterbrainPete but we should keep the waaa
But who'll voice Mighty and Ray?
This hack of SegaSonic The Hedgehog is accurate to what would happen if it were Westernized when it comes to localization. At least most Sega games change the cover art and not sprites and assets from the game.
Never heard of this game before today… Robotnik had a lot of time on his hands to set this all up.
He should’ve spent more time on seeing a plastic surgeon
He really hates that hedgehog.
Not sure what is beef is with Mighty and Ray. Maybe they're Freedom Fighters.
I'm glad I knew about this game for a long time ago and I really liked it
What would be awesome is if someone could Mod the game to include English Voice Acting. Perhaps get some sounds clips of Jaleel White's Sonic voice from Adventures and SatAM and maybe find a impression of of Jim Cumming's Robotnik.
0:17 They definitely missed this Robotnik sprite (the one on the top of his machine)
Becasue they stopped working on localisation
Interesting that the English script the localization team made didn't mention the tower in text when it was self-destructing - maybe the Robotnik dialogue when you encounter him in the tower was meant to be simpler in the World and USA releases?
Tails: So Sonic how was your day?
Sonic: Whaaaaaa!
I have made a wild discovery in this game this play through Robotnik has the same amount of fingers (5 fingers) instead of 4 fingers
It's done with CHEATS?!
Does it mean that the SatAM sprites are already included in game data?
@@MrMariobros222 holy fuck
…huh, neat! You’d think the sprites wouldn’t exist since Japan didn’t get any of the cartoons or comics featuring the Robotnik design
@@personguy2262 the different sprites were made for a western release of the game that was scrapped.
The sprites of the SatAM Robotnik were unused in the final version of SegaSonic The Hedgehog and a version of them but with Eggman instead of Robotnim were used in the final game
5:31 This Killed Me 😂
This game should be called
Sonic Whaaaaaa
Nice walkthrough! Great score 👏
0:55 I don’t think a single button press has ever been more violent.
Awesome being able to read this game finally!
translating the original JPN text is crazy bro 💀
Someone try to get Jim Cummings, and Jaleel White along with a few other voice actors to redub the voiced Japanese dialogue; that way, it’d truly be an english arcade release! I’d like it to be a reunion of sorts-you know, like for old time’s sake. And of course, other voice actors are more than welcome to join in!
I could Voice Mighty(Or Ray)
Fun fact: there were unfinished satAM robotnik sprites for SEGASonic supposedly for an American release
That face he makes when looking back is like baby me running from the belt 😂
Imagine a 2D remake of SegaSonic the Hedgehog
15:33 Sonic went back to tales (and later met Amy rose)
15:47 no one knew what happened to ray. Sources say he had his ass kicked by rocky.
16:02 mighty meet knuckles and 3 others to form the chaotix crew. They now and again.
16:18 eggman went back to his fortress to once again think of a plan that will fail
I don't see why they didn't finish localizing the game
The game didn't do well in Japan.
Wait, Robotnik was about to be in the game for real?
I thought through the thumbnail that it was just a mod.
Impressive!
Is there a site that shows you how to insert the code in newer versions of mame? I'm trying my best to search online but have had no luck.
SatAM Robotnik clashes with the art style like a sore thumb, I much prefer the original, I grew up with this game back in the day playing it at our local arcade.
I highly agree, the fact that this moment at 16:40 is meant for the original (Classic) Eggman video game design, it doesn’t fit with SatAM Robotnik since that version is more menacing and more darker than original video game iteration.
How the hell do you play a game like this emulated? Do you have a trackball? Never been able to play this game
16:36
I was confused as to why there wasn’t a flame coming out of Robotnik’s Eggmobile until I looked closer and saw tiny bits of the flame sprite coming out of the exhaust due to Robotnik’s Eggmobile being bigger than the original sprite for Japanese Eggman’s Eggmobile
Too be honest how do I add the patch to this game I do indeed have Mame installed
So someone actually hacked the satam sprites back into the game?
Sonic (Arcade) All
Bosses (No Damage)
4:46 Boss 1 SinthintyBot
8:52 Boss 2 Blade Machine
8:52 Final Boss Dr. Robotnik
+ Ending And Credits
How did you manage to get this rom hack with english text as well as the satam robonik hack as well
@@MrMariobros222 is it possible that this will work with the normal eggman sprite in this or is it only for the japan text or something
@@MrMariobros222 yes certainly that the original eggman sprite with english text
@@MrMariobros222 wait could you experiment with that like with the normal eggman sprite with english text im sure its possible
You guys think this is how Sonic’s story begins or how Robotnik became like in SatAM?
How did you get all the unused stuff in game?
15:27 BOOM!
Why does SATAM Robotnik fits so well with the Japanese VA integrated into the game?
In this version, it needs TAILS & KNUCKLES as replacements only for America if it came out in 1994 after JP from 1992
Mighty armadillo
waaaaa
such wise words
We were robbed of this game.
Great
Does a Rom of this game need to be patched with this English patch?
The English patch is done using MAME cheats.
what acrade can you play this on?
How to hell do you emulate a trackball based game
i wonder arou nd here for download link sir
Sonic said wahhhh and oooo key doo key doo
Ok cool 😎
How to I get English text?
Do Trog dos playthrough no deaths
Sonic get trap by eggman because SHE GOING ESCAPE!🎉
Should have been called "Sonic Whaaaaa"!
Reminds me of sonic 3D
Wah
*ding*
Why is sonic voice look like okirokoro
Because the game was only in japan
Se siente tan raro ver un juego con el Robotnik Norteamericano...
(Sisi ya sé que ya fué visto en su spin off Mean Bean Machine)
If I was you I won't had risked myself many times for rings
0:17 ROBOTNIK?!
10:25: nice
Where can i find this rom?
@@MrMariobros222 i meant like the version you played in this vid (SATAM robotnik and English translation)
@@MrMariobros222 ooh i see, I’m a little confused on how to enter the mame cheats tho
Can you share this rom hack?
I posted a pinned comment that includes a link to the cheat file of the game that shows the satAM Robotnik sprites and English text.
If you want to play this game on an emulator try to play it with analog controller but the gameplay is still difficult to play on a controller too cause sonic run extremely fast and hard to control
This game is meant to be played with trackball.
Why would it be this game into the developer “sega”
