I don’t like shitting on people’s creativity, especially when they work so hard to make it, but the unfair thing about the Book of Life’s world building is that people that die aren’t sent to a place of punishment because they committed so many really bad sins, they’re being sent to a place of punishment because they are inevitably forgotten.

What the CandleMaker meant by his comment was that Manolo wrote his own story (choosing to play music) and avoided the life that was written for him (to be a bullfighter that his father destined him to be).
