      You don't need to, but you don't NOT need to, either. It let me get better access to everything, plus mine is broken so I had to replace it anyways. I followed your directions and replaced mine, and boy is it such a huge difference! Same bulbs but it's like they're 150% brighter!

    For the pop-clips like the one at 5:13, use a small (as in electronics small) screwdriver to pop the center portion up. Trying to remove it without doing that results in broken clips (and damaged surfaces). Installation, put back in place with the middle portion up and push that back down once inserted back into the body work.
    Oh. He figured it out

    It should be a crime for them to make something so simple so difficult. The manual states to chance ANY of the front bulbs that it should be done at the dealer to avoid damaging then light housing.

    • @MegawattKS
      @MegawattKS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. But in their defense, some average owners don't know to not touch halogen bulbs, could damage wires trying to take the connector off if they don't have experience, etc. (This was the full assembly - not just the bulb of course. So somewhat more involved.)

      I bought these at RockAuto. I just did a quick look and don't see HID for the '07 Avalon currently. Checking my records, it looks like they had HID ones back in 2018 (for $950 each, vs $126 each for these), under "TOYOTA>2007>AVALON>3.5L V6>Body>Headlamp Assembly". But I don't even seem them now... Sorry - I don't have that car anymore. As I recall, the lights just had the hex-nut adjustment things shown at the end of the video for height. There was nothing for left-right (at least I didn't need that). Fortunately I had taken a photo of where the lights hit the garage door (and where the car was parked) before doing the replacement, so I just adjusted to match the original positions after parking the car in the same way.

    So, you threw out a diamond (the OEM Toyota headlight assemblies) and you replaced it with a CZ, the after market ones.
    You might as well throw your money out the window.
    The OEM parts from Toyota are excellent.
    Next time, get a headlight expert to restore them for you.
    Always stay with the OEM parts. Always.
    Too bad...

    • @hahdwerk596
      @hahdwerk596 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have yet to see a restoration on plastic lenses that have big, bright bulbs shot through them last.
      Tell Toyota to make the lens out of glass or to make the lens removable from the rest of the assembly, and it won't be an issue. As it is, Toyota wants a lot for a genuine assembly, no?
