  • A detailed review & breakdown of why the Porsche Cayman GT4 might be the best, most underrated driver's car for the street and the track. Is it really worth paying for a GT3 marked up to $300,000+ or is the GT4 an unintentional 911 killer?

      @@landenlove3051 What is this a dick measuring contest? You're asking about removing a particulate filter on the exhaust system and if that will make the car unreliable man, come on. The car comes stock with a GPF/OPF not because it's tuned but because it's regulated to include one which restricts flow and sound. The previous gen 981 did not have one but the 718 did. This looks like a much nicer blue than Miami. Also some people say it but many do not want PCCBs for the track because they are so expensive to replace. Depends on the driver though some will be fine others will eat those rotors up. Most of the track guys I hear about do not bother speccing PCCB.

      the 718 GTS 4.0 is not a 50% discount. its msrp is 89k base vs 105k base for the GT4. if you forego the expensive options like carbon ceramic brakes and carbon seats the GT4 is more reasonable. The GT4 looks a lot more special also.

    The GT4 does not replace the GT3. They are different cars. The GT3 has better suspension and most importantly, a beast of an engine. Plus rear wheel steering. Now, for the money the GT4 is the way to go, not as fast but it is definitely a driver’s car. The GT4 RS will be the car that basically can replace the GT3

    I have the 2022- pdk baby. The pdk allows you to shift manually with paddles or the gear lever - just no clutch pedal and it shifts faster than any human can mash on the clutch and shift and release the clutch. Putting a manual trans in this high tech car would be like replacing the stereo Bluetooth system with a 10 cd changer or a cassette deck. Putting that 1960’s manual transmission is a crime.

    • @jeffreykilpatrick3592
      @jeffreykilpatrick3592 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How many porsche campaigned race cars have manual transmissions?
      None for a reason. Porsche offers manuals because they can charge $18,000 more for an S and the manual trans that they designed a decade or more ago costs them 1/4 if what a modern high tech pdk costs them. Porsche laughs all the way to the bank- plus they get to charge $10,000 to replace the clutch plates every 50,000 miles or less-

    • @dinojuice1135
      @dinojuice1135  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @jeffrey Kilpatrick
      I'm glad you like your PDK so much. Just me personally, I love the manual in this. The auto rev-matching and short shifter make it super easy to drive fast. The PDK is faster shifting and faster to 60 of course but if I were buying one of these tomorrow I'd take the stick. Neither is wrong, either way it's an awesome machine.

    • @jeffreykilpatrick3592
      @jeffreykilpatrick3592 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both work but the pdk is obviously better and next guys will say that using a crank to start the engine is more engaging than an electric starter or carburetors are more engaging than fuel injection. This nostalgia for old transmission technology is really rather comical. Similar to the claims that music sounds better from vinyl than high but rate online music websites. Pumping up car tires with a hand pump is more engaging than using a lithium battery powered pump also. Or putting 1940’s technology tires on a 2022 GT4 would also be more engaging. If you like manual transmissions for nostalgic reasons buy a 1960’s era Porsche. I suppose you could go way back and hitch a horse to your 2022 GT4 as well- definitely more engaging,

      @@jeffreykilpatrick3592 Fun fact actually some Porsche cup cars use a modified dog box transmission which includes a clutch. See 991 GT3 cups. Not sure if the 992 continues that but I know all 991 cars included a 3rd pedal.

    This car has some drawbacks. The infotainment should be loaded both Apple and Android and screen edge to edge push button start led lights illuminated door sills lighting package bose should be standard.
    It has the same motor bored 1L over from the outgoing 911 turbo so unrestricted and tuned its closer to 500hp all day... 2 If anyone ever decides to throw 10lbs of boost at this it's gonna be dummy fast... 3. Stay away from older models even with what i said above a loaded one is like 125k 981s are trying to be sold at no less than 100k like they're something special and this is clearly a superior model

    Gt4 is not much lighter than the GT3. Why the pdk? It is faster off the line and shifts faster and you can shift it with Paddles or with the shifter. Same as a manual but without a clutch and the pdk by the way is an automatic manual dual clutch transmission. Why put a 50 year old transmission technology trans in this fantastic high tech vehicle? Does Porsche race any factory sponsored race cars with a manual transmission? No. Because they are as antiquated as requesting a 10 cd changer and a Thomas guide in the glovebox. Next you will exclaim a slide rule is more engaging for doing calculations than a calculator. Drive both transmissions and you will find the shift points are better spread in the pdk and it shifts in milliseconds and the car’s engine is never disconnected from the engine during shifts- always being pushed forward. Corvette dropped the manual for a reason as did Ferrari - if you want a manual buy a 1970’s 911 and enjoy the nostalgia which is definitely fun. But burdening this engineering genius that was put into the GT4 with an old fashioned clunky transmission from the middle of the last century is really just wrong. Ask your dealer the cost of replacing a clutch in a 2021 GT4 - which you will have to do probably every 50,000 miles if you track this car and no wonder porsche is happy to install this low cost trans rather than the high tech complex nine speed PDK.

      Bro why are you so mad. Did someone make fun of you for driving an automatic? You gotta chill man it ain’t that serious. But I have a question for you. I am looking to get a 987 cayman S in hopefully a year or two. Have you ever driven one of those with the PDK? Im concerned they may not be as good as manuals for that year. I know the PDK that comes with the one in the 981 generation is perfect, but I can’t afford that.

I wouldn't have been upset though if got the C8 either lol... both sick cars - just different.

      Haven't driven a Z06 but you are paying more for those right now than a GT4. And you can't get a manual Corvette anymore new. If the Z06 is anything like the regular C8 I drove then it's a spaceship. Which can be a good and bad thing but is a bit less connected. Also styling inside and out leaves some to be desired. That square steering wheel really is an odd choice.
