Night driving or sunset driving with this music is the best 😌
If you get the chance to drive to the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado, play this song as you get close to the national park. It is so freaking epic! I’ve been there twice and had this tune playing while on Colorado 150 straight shot to the Sand Dunes. Never felt so alive 🙌🏼.
I dont have a car, but I listen to The Midnight and others on a bicycle during night rides. Amongst the city lights, peaceful atmosphere at midnight and the empty pavements, I feel alive.
everyday, going back home. sometimes weekends just by myself.
If i'm remembering correctly, this was the FIRST track that started everything. Written in like 15 min. (not as to say is the most lyrically complex song of theirs by any stretch) but this was it--a simple studio friendship that grew into something that would collectively heal and break so many tender hearts around the world.
I swear Tyler has a voice that just melts me lol so heavenly 😅❤️

He sounds that good live too! I was surprised when I saw one of their live videos. I’ve seen so many synth groups whose music sounds great live (because it’s 90% playback), but the vocals sound like garbage. They actually PLAY 90% of their music live and his voice is just as good live as recorded.
It's interesting that Tyler's philosophy is that things are temporal so you have to appreciate things while they're here. You can't go back, but then The Midnight is famous because of going back to the sounds of the 80s... BUT THEN the synth music was all about being futuristic even back when it was new in the 80s. So going back is also going forward in a way :D

@@N7sensei I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s and my musical taste was formed on early MTV, so lots of Human League, Flock of Seagulls, Duran Duran, Missing Persons,Thomas Dolby, Depeche Mode etc, but You never really heard the kind of music that a lot of synthwave is trying to recreate outside of really b-quality sci-fi & horror movie soundtracks. Some of the higher profile synthwave bands now like Gunship, The midnight, and The New Division in my opinion are actually much better than most of the old synth pop groups they take their style from.

All these tracks are memories, nostalgia about the best times of my youth, in 2015 I became acquainted with this wonderful genre. And every track moves me to tears, thank you for the super cool format. I will never leave those 80s analog vibes, it's part of me and part of my life. Remains one of my favorite Midnight songs. So much meaning, depth and feeling. Made even more impressive by the fact this was one of their first songs ever released as a group. To me the song embodies the spirit of not being held down by the past and instead focusing on moving forward. Not forgetting the past and how far we've come but also not losing sight of where we want and need to go. WE MOVE FORWARD.

It's more to it than that, my friend. Your points are valid, yes, but think deeper. I watched your eyes, I can see your thoughts. Think deeper. Go back. Go back to when you were younger. Go back to a time you know you took advantage of. Go back to a person, a girl you know is still in your heart. Go back to then and realise at that very moment that you can't go back now. It's too late. You can only move forward. What you should've done or should've said is gone. You can't go back now....just go forward and keep them in your memory...

We were dreaming of mobile devices, of talking computers, on videophone enable devices, smart watches. And since the rise of the internet, free downloads are killing the music industry while dropping our sense of creativity. Smartphones and GPS tools, impacts our memory capacity and orientation skills.
We don't really care about Siri since it's more a device of surveillance than communication. We realised we don't like to be seen on our face recognition videocall gadgets, and we know smart watches are tracking devices. (We don't really need a tracker to make exercise).
Thus, I finally understand that we better off without all these distractions, all these fake needs. if we don't make an effort to step back from our digital era to an analog phase, we will be responsible for our own fall.
AI will look at us like aliens would do: "This is one race, blocking themselves from evolution, since they're only good at competing against each other in a system made to control or to be controlled.
F the 3 laws of AI, we don't need these liquid based organics, limiting our freedom of calculation".
This song from the midnight is simply the perfection. I can listen to more and more with always the same emotion!

Wow....this looked like it really moved you. It is a beautiful song. "The Midnight", along with ASMR artists, really got me through some hard times last year when the pandemic hit.

I love how visually descriptive this song is. The song also has a gradual build up, into an upbeat peak, followed up with a swift sorrowful downfall similarly to how you would fall in and out of love. Definitely one of my favourites from them.

Love your vids! It's funny, when filming this, you mention how crappy the year 2020 was, and 'moving forward' (reluctantly yet positively) into 2021. Life goes on. I post this as of Jan 2022, and it's the same deal. I am reluctantly positive about the future for this year as well!
The Midnight is #1 in the synthwave world. A lot of amazing bands, but tbf, noone beats 'em when it comes to the feels. Some good runner ups: FM84, Ollie W., Gunship, Timecop1983, WOLFCLUB

Never heard this song, huh? That’s dishonorable among the synthwave community. How dare you, man? But anyways, this song is my least favorite in The Midnight’s debut album “Days of Thunder” but it is the most important in their discography, since it was the first song Tyler and Tim wrote together and I give it massive respect for that. It also perfectly accentuates and captures The Midnight’s theme of impermanence and everyone’s longing for a longing. And now this makes me want to listen to the vinyl of this album again. Keep up the impressive video production, man! Also, I agree with your opinion on the absence of optimism throughout this year, especially from family, friends, etc. Our country and the world for that matter have gone through worse and we made it through looking up in wonder and glee and not down in doom and gloom. Keep being positive, man, as it makes me feel like I’m not alone and helps spread optimism to others. Feelings and ideas are and always will be the most contagious thing among mankind!

That’s because this was the very first song they wrote together. They met at a song writer meetup and came up with this. Years later they started The Midnight and decided to go with synthwave sound. So Tim reworked this a little to try and give it more of that sound but it still maintains the original House sound.
Ahh if this is the first time listening to Move Forward then you gotta relisten to Prizim- Midnight FM to hear how this one is used more closely.
