- Tesla JUST released it's NEW Model 3, based on the secret upgrade dubbed Project Highland. This has been in the works since it was first leaked in November 2022, followed by comments from Elon Musk about factory shutdowns needed for the upgrade. Recent developments reveal significant Model 3 improvements, including a more aerodynamic design, an 8% boost in efficiency, and an estimated 12% increase in range. The interior receives a luxurious makeover with a streamlined dashboard and innovative features like automatic temperature regulation. Tesla has also made changes to its entire electric vehicle lineup including Model S and Model X, removing the standard range versions, and lowering the price. But the new Project Highland Tesla Model 3 is leaving competitors reeling! #teslamodel3 #model3 #tesla

Not at all.
Missing stalks making all other redesign in vain. It’s a DEALBREAKER!
@@iBackBeatIt's a dealbreaker for me as well.
Like anything else that is “different”, not having stalks will take a while to retrain one’s muscle memory (just like going from physical buttons on a flip phone to a multi-touch screen). Do YOU want to drive a flip phone of a car 5 years from now⁉️ I’ll take the new approach and adapt (when the Model Y version comes out in 14 - 18 months (just my guess)).

My guess. Is that the higher cost is to prevent the Osborne effect. Lower cost later??
The "price" is higher.
The "cost" (to Tesla) is probably about the same, quickly trending to less as volume increases.
Price will be high until pent up demand is reduced and competitive pressure increases

Tesla also announced faster charging capability in some markets, which does not coincide with 'no changes to the batteries'. I am wondering how they are achieving it?
While the Model 3 refresh has improved the car, Tesla could have done so much more, humans get distracted & make mistakes a Heads Up Display with Blind Spot warning/monitoring would improve safety & reduce that risk.
I didn't realize the M3 doesn't have blind spot monitoring!
@@tejash21 You have a chime, but visual monitoring at each end of a HUD in the drivers line of sight would be preferable

Tesla could add a few more luxury touches. Buttons for air conditioning and heating, fan levels, drivers speed screen. Wipers level needs speed control.
2 things:
1- I think the recent picture of Elon in the Cybertruck with the white vehicle in the back is this new model 3.
2- Other than that picture (if I'm correct), did he not post anything about the new model 3 on X?

I thought Tesla doesn’t have a marketing department did something change recently?
All I want is Model 3 Plaid…
Well done on your coverage of Tesla as of late!
Which one is better the highland model 3 or the model S?
It’s a different vehicle class. The model 3 is more of a compact-mid sedan while the model s is a full sized sedan. The model 3 highland will give model s buyers something to think about for sure but also Tesla recently dropped prices on the S and X as well.
For a difference of over $ 35,000 I would guess the model S
Putting the turning indicators on the steering wheel is a huge mistake. That’s US engineering. Simply dumb. Maybe Tesla should send their engineers to UK, Spain or Asia to see how the traffic is outside California?
We have a Model 3 from 2021 and live in Spain. We have zillions of roundabouts in Europe and the turning indicator needs to be used while you are already turning. Good luck finding a small button on your steering wheel then…
Apart from this flaw, the updated Model 3 seems great.
"Elon Musk always likes to hear constructive criticism." Ha,ha,ha.
Marked suspension/handling/ride improvement has also been reported by European reviewers. (LOL: If you've ever driven over Belgian cobblestone streets, you'd appreciate this above all else!)

@@nicholasmuni7995 "Nothiing I guess gigacastings are expensive they will just keep using the 70 pieced and glued together rear assembly."
Gigacastings make the car cheaper to produce.
@@pauld3327 "No gigacastings in China"
Incorrect. They even use those for Model Y on both front and back side.
Generally everything looks like and improvement. The only thing is how easy will it be to get use to going without steering wheel stocks. I kind of feel neutral about the front redo. I wonder what the real range will be in the US version . The wltp ratings are useless in the US.
I think you'll find out that you can adapt fairly well. I like the turn indicators on the steering wheel so your hand never needs to leave the wheel to change lanes. If this will be equipped with auto drive then a quick tap on the break will automatically select the correct motion. Putting the vehicle in park is as easy as unlatching the safety belt. I think stockless will be a win-win in many ways.
Tesla should call it “Model 3E”.
Give me proper indicators on a stalk to that I can drive the car through a roundabout without breaking the law or looking at the wheel. You can’t easily see where the buttons on the wheel are when the wheel is upside down in the middle of a turn
When the wheel is upside down, the turn signals are on your "other left".
@@scottbreseke716 and back to front, assuming that it’s exactly upside down and not moving around in one direction or another while you attempt to steer, find the capacitive button and look where you are going and who is around you. Even the choice of button is stupid. Haptic feedback that you just activated the buttons won’t tell you that you’re indicating the wrong way.
I doubt that the Highland has not changed the battery from the earlier version. Has Tesla actually explicitly said that the battery is the same?
This is what the youtubers who got access to the vehicle have said. It looks like their talking points came from tesla.

It didnt pioneer evs Nissan did plenty our forgetting this Tesla made it a brand Americans wanted to trust so badly but yet plagued with engineering issues.
Who really cares what the reason is for the Highland. It has been released and will soon be out to the new customers. Tesla is only setting standards for all the vehicles they sell making them have similar features across the board. That way parts and manufacturing will be cheaper.
Whether the end cost to customer will be cheaper remains to be seen.
I would ride a bus before I would buy a Tesla and put a dime more in Elon's pocket.
Not 6th year. Its the 8th year. It came out in 2017!!
I would love to buy a Tesla when they come out with a big luxury car model, when they are improved with a 500 plus mile range and charging times come down from 30 to 45 minutes down to 7 to 10 minutes to fully charge from 0 to 100 percent, the same amount of time it takes me to fully fuel my new jaguar XJl which has a range of 521 miles. For that I'll take an oil change all day. For all the times you have to sit like some kid in time out and for the very limited range, takeing away oil changes is the least they can do for you. There is an EV that the United States needs to advance in. Highspeed bullet train technology which is also (fully electric) charging times 0, range is unlimited, speeds 200 to 225 plus mph. Unfortunately these (electric modern marvels of transportation) dosent exsist in the mighty United States of America. But i guess yal don't know about these EVs.
Tesla is the 800 pound gorilla of manufacturing
Please never ever ever ever start a title with "The REAL reason" ever again.
What is the real reason you say that?
@@scottbreseke716 I think you already know the reason.
No callout on the stupidity of missing stalks is disappointing to say the least. But calling it innovation is total ignorance, opportunism and misleading costumers about dangerous design 🤬👎.
TMIO, you’re loosing my respect.
Stupid is relative. Some of us can learn new things so we're not as crippled by change like you useless people.
What's wrong with missing stalks? The stalks look dumb, no? In the video I said the innovation was the automated cooled seats. That appears to be something new. The no stalks is straight from Model S.
@@TMIOTeslaModel S is a low volume car.
If Tesla go the same route for Model Y and remove the stalks Tesla is doomed
@@TMIOTesla
Missing stalks are counterintuitive, even dangerous and do not solve any problem (cause there was any). Tesla created problems! Tesla ruined all other good innovations with this retrograde step, rendering the Model 3 Highland worse than it’s predecessor.
At least, Tesla should offer the stalks and standard steering wheel as an option instead of forcing this BS on every costumer.
And you are talking of „look“???
There was nothing wrong about the look of stalks for decades!
But all of a sudden, the most safe and intuitive solution for shifting drivemode, turnsignals, wipers, hi-beams: stalks should be sacrificed for the sake of Look? Are you kidding me?
Think about this:
Steve Jobs once said: Good design is not only about, how things look, but how they work.
@@iBackBeat Apple is not a great comparison considering they were the company to make the iphone cut your calls if you “held it wrong” as they have said so if anything it’s innovation no one asked for and in fact I’ve heard many didn’t like the stalkless when it was first implemented in the x and s much less on it’s higher volume 3 and y cars. There will be backlash but will there be enough and will tesla listen is the real question. I’m not hopeful for it to become and option and unfortunately it’s a deal breaker for me personally. I consider everything before I buy it and I don’t like the stalkless design.
Mark Watson from Carwow said he didn't like the turning indicators on the steering wheel. Nobody will! If it was a design improvement it would have been done over the past 60 years. It's impossible to use steering wheel controls now on bendy roads with a moving steering wheel. Too bad if you need to indicate quickly... This sort of cost cutting is NOT customer based
So it's quieter yet it's nowhere near being comparable to the experience of a luxury car. The reflection on the front windscreen is bad. No more fog lamps. Also, the huge $40k discounts on S and X have Elon's fingerprints all over it. The minimalistic look and feel is NOT want customers have ever wanted.
I want an S look and feel in a Model 3 not a bare bones experience. I test drove a Model 3 recently and was holding off for Highland. Now I'll pass altogether as there are way too many EV competitors. nowadays
Nobody will? We'll see with the sales numbers...
“The minimalist look and feel is NOT what customers ever wanted.” Hmmm. Guess that’s why the Y is the best selling car in the world.
@@DanjaPrestonYou're right, sales will tell.
But I can already tell you that sales will plummet in Europe because over here people won't buy a car that has no stalks

You always use the term ""REAL REASON"' as bait as though you know more than us. Very rude assumption
Hmm do you have any other suggestions?
Also by saying real reason I'm not going out of my way to insult you, I'm simply saying I think I have a different perspective that you may not have heard before. If the video just reiterates everything you know, then what's the point of watching?
Tesla is not listening um complaints at all. Their advertising efforts are nothing more than lipservice to investors. Price cuts are useless if nobody knows about them. Tesla is doing the bare minimum of advertising just to appear to be listening to investors. But they truly don't. Tesla wants the world to transition to renewable energy but outright refuses to inform people about the benefits and affordability of evs. Only those who are already interested in a Tesla will learn about the price cuts. Tesla is behaving like freaking amateurs when it comes to mass market advertising and I am sick and tired of it. Imagine the campaign they could have launched with only half of the price cuts for model S and X.
If you're that "Sick and tired of it" (what?) and you have stock.... Sell!
If you don't, it's none of your concern so.... Shhhhh!
(That's the polite version)
No improved range. How disappointing
They say the range is 12% higher
@@TMIOTeslaRange is not 12% higher.
For RWD and LFP battery, range went from 491 km WLTP to 513 km WLTP. That's only a 4.5 % range increase.
And most of that range increase comes from the new tires.
@@pauld3327At least 2/3rds (3%) of the 4.5% range increase most likely comes from the reduction in the aerodrag, due to the reduction in Cd. The rest could come from a combination of factors, including some reduction in the tires rolling resistance.
