Ok but nothing beats that satisfying click you get from a folding knife while opening and closing it

Nothing beats the satisfying click of a well fitted sheath.

“Can’t carry the big knives unless you live in a crazy place that will let you do that”
    So Texas?

I got a big fixed blade mainly to use for gardening and cutting up brush and branches. I was cutting up an overgrown bush near my shed, and I used my cheapo Bowie knife to cut up the branches.
Getting a big knife is like getting a pocket machete. It’s big for most applications but not as big as a full length blade.
Now I sold the Bowie for an off brand Kabar looking knife. It will probably last longer because the Bowie was a rat tail tang, but it’s smaller and I’d like to find another just BIG knife

My dad is a stonemason and carries an Alaskan knives bear cub EDC. It is a nice looking knife and seems very high quality

If you don't mind me asking what would a stone mason need a knife for other than sharpening pencils

Is a folder fine for just slf defense? Is it reliable or should i get a fixed blade? Again strictly for self defense edc

DANG. That’s a solid way to roll my friend. You don’t mess around with your knife purchases. Thanks for sharing.
I’ll have Winkler Belt Knife and hawk in my collection at some point… Just got my Toor Anaconda last week. Unboxing coming next Monday!

It’s all about preference. A lot can be done with that little D2 RAT 2 👍

artisan cutlery sea snake a lil on the small side but disappears in my front jeans pocket or cold steel mini tac vs any decent folder

A folder in most cases but man its cringe when im whacking at brush and i can feel the abuse on the stop pin. A fixed would be comfortable with light brush clearing but tradeoffs tradeoffs

Absolutely, it’s nice to have a good bushwhacker of a fixed blade.

1095 is just the standard go for more expensive carbon steel.

And I couldn’t be much happier about it. For the price, it’s just such a good damn bush steel 👌
