You have great taste in music. This song was playing on the radio after I asked my cute girlfriend to marry me..... that was August 1980. We were married on the First Day of Spring 21 March 1981.

I was 12 when this came out and despised this song as it somehow represented to me the heralding of a _new era_ of music and the erasure of the beloved 60-70s pop and soul I had come to treasure. (funny how children develope such arbitrary values lol) After the past couple of decades of cynical debaucherous lyrics and soulless synthetic instrumentation, I truly recognize the brilliance of this and many other songs from that long gone era.
At 58, this was my kind of music growing up in the 80's, such fond memories when music was made with real voices, real instruments and real singers, not anything manufactured like today's genre.

The soft rock of the 70's that then crossed over into the early 80's was the best music of my life with artists like Robbie Dupree, Paul Davis, Ambrosia, Little River Band, Dan Fogelberg, Christopher Cross, the Orleans, etc. etc. etc.
I'm in my 60 now. I was in my late 20s when this song came out. I loved it then, and still today it sounds just as fresh and wonderful as it always did.
So sweet. Like old friends these songs from this transitional era between decades (also, Christopher Cross, Roger Voudouris, Doobie Brothers, Stephen Bishop) bring back dear memories.

Retro music is so good because we are able to reminisce our memories from them. And this feeling of being nostalgic, remembering the times when we were young, wild and free is just so excruciatingly indescribable, no words can truly explain it. And that's why it's so beautiful. Heard this song on the radio again while cruising down the highway on a cool Friday night. And Friday nights used to be the time to go down to clubs, meeting new people, having a drink or two and soaking in some love memory. When we were young.
I remember when I was a kid, we lived in this big house in Aurora,CO that was two stories with a full sub floor, the house had an intercom system in it with a built in radio so you could play music through all the speakers, I remember playing in the bathtub as an 8 year old back in 81 and hearing this song piping through the intercom. Such a simpler time when we could just be kids, Part of me would give anything to go back, but I know it would never be the same, I'd have to have my brain wiped first.

I can think of many great things that happened during that era. The one and only my beloved Prince emerged into greatness, he was so young then. The British invaded our shores again led by Boy George and Culture Club and brought terrific music with them. The Warriors, one of my fave movies, and Alien premiered back then too. Funk music was also hot back then. Clubs were jumping. Sadly thats were that dreaded disease spread and claimed a lot of talented people a decade later. The 80s were a fantastic time.
