I know there are a lot of decent US citizens around that just are trying to live their lives and be without sorrows and trouble. I have been to 14 states of the USA and I have hosted also many US born travellers in my own home via Couchsurfing for 16 years. The thing is there are some structural issues the USA have incorporated that now disrupts their daily reality. Too many Americans have NO idea about the world outside of the USA. The fact of being the largest economy in the world is only a benefit for the uber-rich elite and that will not change because education is ridiculously expensive, power is in the hands of the billionaires ( You need to be very rich to be candidate for presidency; Elon Musk is obscenely rich and appointed to governement and legislation is steered by lobbyists). I have seen how many people live on the streets , I have in person heard the sad stories of Healthcare debts and people getting hooked on prescriptions. These youngsters have a really balanced idea about America that matches my own. The American politics is a disaster, but meeting Americans has always been a great pleasure, for me at least. But I’ve never been there so I only met the ones that travelled. Or is it just the ones that are in the media a lot that give us a warped view.
Exchange students are not required to take required curriculum... they usually take elective courses and basic math, history and English... their exchange year doesn't count towards their academic standing, it's more of a Gap year... and it pretty easy for anyone.
Let's just assume that the average American isn't like the loudest ones on social media. I assume most Americans are hinged but the one you hear on Instagram, TH-cam, Reddit or twitter definitely aren't.
When i think of the US, i always think about how the dating there is nowadays. Like.. what is wrong with a coffee date or when somebody doesn’t earn a lot? You fall for the person, not his/her wallet 😊

It's a hard conversation to have with people. The reality is most Americans just want to live their lives, feel safe and have the ability to pay for their bills, afford college and take vacations ets. What has tarnished the image of so many Americans is the rise of Trump and the religious right. The fact that America elected a felon to be the President who also happens to be a climate denier and against the rights of so many people is abhorrent. The fact that the people who follow that man believe their voices are the only ones that matter and "speak truth" is embarrassing. The horrible views that are now permeating throughout Europe speaks volumes about how easy hate and misinformation are so easily spread and shows nothing has been learned from History. While America has many wonderful things, ( I too love Target and miss it terribly as well as a few other stores) I really wish the leadership would wake up and start putting people in power that actually give a shit about the people they represent, rather than their own interests, and I am speaking as an American who now lives in the Netherlands...I promise, I'm not one of the cult members 😉I'm one of the normal ones😁
You are so wrong about Trump, they made a simple demener to a felony , everybody knows its gonna be trown away in the Supreme Court, and as another fact , Hillary Clinton did the same with the cost of the famous Steele dossier, she wrote it in the books as LEGAL exspans, and she got a slap on the , and had to pay a fine, you anti trumpers a full on it😢😢😢

I asked many brown and black dutch people to participate but these were the people who accepted. I agree I would like to see more diverse answers so maybe I will get some others to agree to be in a video in the future.
Do you think they will answer differently? Only 9,2% of Dutch people are migrants. And many of those migrants come from Europe or Turkey. On top of that, selecting by ethnicity is against the law in the Netherlands. According to the law this remark is racist.
