I was going to buy some silver and gold dragons today. But the precious metals took off because the CPI was lower than expected in the US. They might sell out before I can buy.

It seems I am in the minority but I love the silver dragon. Just bought the 2oz to put on display on my desk. I think the fire breathing and the ocean wave accents around the outside look smashing. No one else have any love for it?
Just saw the coloured version and it's water coming from the mouth. Seemed like smoke at 1st glance.

The 1oz has a mintage of 300,000 versus only 8,800 for the 2 oz, I think so I think the 2 oz is a better value, all things being equal.

The 2 designs are good, but I have a slight preference for the one of the gold coin.

Hi from Australia. The silver proof coloured 1oz 2024 Lunar Dragon looks much better. The design on the silver coins is a water dragon. Perth Mint are able to used the QE2 memorial design up until May 2024 if they choose. Thanks for your videos.
The water dragon in the year of the wood dragon is a bit strange imho. The design is OK but the coin doesn't fit into the series. It looks like the coin would be from another series. That's what I don't like.
1 kilo silver due out around April ..to milk the last of the Queens effigy no doubt ..to try and sell one of each, an Elizabeth and a Charles no doubt
Totally agree, the gold design is much more attractive than the silver design. I do find it strange that the gold design omits the pearl of wisdom...it was included in the 2012 design.
I don't believe there's ever been a lunar coin depiction of a "baby" dragon, however. 🐲🐲
Dragons were not born they have been created according to Chinese mythology. That’s why there are no baby dragons. Baby dragons would be cute… 😆😆

Congrats for the coins , I would not be surprised if there is Charles III coin for this one. with all the respect to the Queen R.I.P , it was for 2022-2023 , and this coin is made for 2024 😐Mints like to make extra money from special additions and so on.
The mints are allowed to use Queen Elizabeth's effigy until May 2024. I don't like the money making with dead people. It's OK if they release several coronation and birthday coins for King Charles but as you said. They should let the Queen RIP.
The only reason I didn’t grab any of these is because they are unlimited strike, they are very beautiful though, I may get the silver series 2 but it takes two months to buy a ounce of gold so I’ve been buying Mexican liberstads and I recently purchased the napoleon commander series, it’s gonna take four years to get the collection because they only come out with 3 a year for four years with the one ounce of only 10,000 strikes and for the 1/10 ounce 200,000 which is still not a lot. I will eventually grow my collection but good video and nice coins.

Got me the 1oz & 1/4 and 1/10 Gold, but don't like the 2 Silver coins! Just added the 1oz Platinum coin...
I also do not really like the silver coins but I want a complete series...

Congratulations on getting yours! They look great. I really like the gold. I too wonder if they will offer a Charles versions. The Queen will only be issued on coins through May.
Thanks Sal. The reason why I think that there will be a King coin is that this coin doesn't fit into the series. I put all coins next to each other and it looks like I put a coin of another series on the desk accidentally. The gold coin is looks great but I don't like the design of the silver coin to be honest.

the gold version image is way better than silver one for me, but I am still waiting for the shipment of the silver coin. Like you said, it's possible that the silver one looks much better in real and I'm counting on it :D
I actually don't have an issue with the silver coin beside that it doesn't fit into the series in my opinion. If you put all the coins released so far next to each other it looks like this coin would be from another series. The design is completely different.

Thanks for the video. I'm not one to buy colorized coins, but the colorized silver 2024 dragon coin helps the design make sense for me. By the way, there are dragons out their, the komodo dragon of Indonesia. Tip: don't mess around with this animal. Give it a lot of space. 🐲

The design could be better, but still it's a nice looking coin.

Apparently the circular pebble thing on the left of the coin is supposed to be an egg/baby dragon. You can see it clearer on the coloured version of the coin 😊
Nope, that’s a flaming pearl. The pearl is associated with spiritual energy, wisdom, prosperity, power or immortality.

I prefer the 2022 Myths & Legends Gold Dragon from the Perth Mint. I bought four one-ouncers, and they are probably my favorite Perth Mint coin.

I was wondering that no other channel uploaded a video on the dragon coins. I know that we usually get our coins very early but I couldn’t even find a video on an Aussie channel. 🤷🏻♂️

I'm going to enjoy collecting the sizes in gold. I'm going to like it even more if they launch a new effigy on us after May next year (when the allowance to use the Queen's effigy runs out). With a silver Wood Dragon and baby. Maybe the baby could be a little emperor, given that the Royal line likes to say it's descended from the Gods. They could illustrate the child accompanying the mother dragon like they do on the 10 Yuan Coin of Auspicious Matters, which is a really cute 1/10th oz gold coin I just love.
I am not sure if the Royals still believe this "by the grace of god" thing. I am curious to see whether there will be another coin or not...
@@AustrianStacker I was talking about the Historical Royals of China. whom believe they were descended from the Gods. A popular believe amongst ancient Royal lines the world over. The reverse of the coins with the dragon design, well a prospective dragon design.

Yes because the Queen‘s effigy can’t be used after May 2024.
In Chinese culture, as with all other cultures, dragons are mythical creatures with no tradition of mating or having babies. They are usually immortal, and often 'created' by god(s), so no need for sexual reproduction.
I agree but the design doesn’t fit into the series imho. It’s about the design of the coin. I disagree with your comment. It was believed that celtic dragons lay eggs. That’s a historic fact. People in medieval ages searched for dragon eggs.
@@AustrianStacker OK. When the PM does Welsh dragons, they might depict babies. From what I am told about the mythology, Chinese dragons did not breed. The PM can only follow Chinese tradition regarding the Chinese zodiac. If that doesn't fit into the PM mother and baby theme, then... well... it doesn't.
I agree on the Chinese dragons. I was referring to your statement about „all other cultures“. As said, the coin is OK but if you put it beside the 4 other coins of the series it looks like it wouldn’t be part of the series. 🤷🏻♂️ The Rwanda coins fit perfectly into their Lunar series.
Gold looks ok, but the silver coin is really bad in quality and style, why they dont but another baby dragon in it like the other luna 3 silver coins?
That's what I said when I saw the first leaked pictures of the coin. This coin looks like it would be from another series. It doesn't fit into the Lunar III series.
Dragons are created, immortal, not born ..and baby.
@@andrewhigginbottom6525 There are a lot of legends about dragon eggs in different European countries. There are legends about dragon eggs also in Ireland and Wales. There is a castle in Conway where a dragon egg is hidden according to a local legend.
It’s hard to keep coming up with dragon designs that will just wow you. The silver is inbound and gold is simple and elegant as it should be.

🇦🇹 Im chinesischen Kalender nimmt der Drache eine hohe Bedeutung ein, leider wurde das bei der Silbermünze nicht entsprechend umgesetzt. Eine klassische Fehlprägung. Da hilft auch das Relief wenig. Die Serie wird dadurch für Sammler nicht interessanter. Dann werden sich halt noch mehr den BIG FIVE SERIES aus Südafrika zuwenden.
🇬🇧 The dragon is of great importance in the Chinese calendar, but unfortunately this was not reflected in the silver coin. A classic minting error. Even the relief is of little help. This does not make the series any more interesting for collectors. Then even more will turn to the BIG FIVE SERIES from South Africa.
Die Big 5-Serie ist sehr schön. Ich sammle sie auch, aber ich denke nicht, dass eine Tierserie mit 5 Münzen eine Serie mit 12 Tierkreiszeichen ersetzen kann. Ich denke, dass Sammler die Serie fertig sammeln und dann zu Lunar-Serien von anderen Münzen wechseln werden.
I agreed. I am getting rid of my Rat, Ox, Tiger and Rabbit coins because i find the design of the dragon on the silver coin the ugliest I have ever seen. As a Chinese, I love dragon. I buy almost any silver or gold coins have beautiful dragon.
we can't have a nordic dragon, we are not a nordic nation, in fact quite the opposite. we are as far south as you can get. And we arent going to have a Welsh dragon because Welsh poeple don't collect gold coins. Chinese people collect gold coins and love their Zodiac dragons.
Great coin, BTW. King Charles coin under a Labor republican government may take some time. The coins are legal tender and must be approved by government. so expect a low roll out in 2024 if we are lucky.

The market for welsh gold dragons would be about 2 people. The ones you know. The Market for Chinese zodiac dragons is huuuuuge. Chinese people all over Australia and Asia will buy it from you in a second, from a dark alley in any chinatown to a pawn shop. I have the same coin but a bit larger. They're fantastic. I'll get a King Charles version if they release it next year too. But I think they will come very slowly. @@AustrianStacker

The 2024 EHR from Canadian Mint puts these to shame, that Canadian coin is a revolutionary step in striking extremely high relief 4 plus mm in relief.
I don’t like the design tbh. The RCM could have done much better but they decided to play it safe and go with a traditional design that looks like 100 other coins. 🤷🏻♂️

I don't think that the 2020 silver coin has a baby.
They look like 2 two adult mice. Honestly i think that was the best lunar silver design so far, I loved the reverse proof finish of the mice and hiw the kernels pop out like 3d.
The series in silver went downhill from there.
I think the silver dragon looks nice, its breathing out water!
I don’t know if one of the two mice is a baby but there are 2 mice on it. 2 mice, 2 oxen, 2 tigers,… 🤷🏻♂️ The coin is better than expected but it looks like they mistakenly took a coin from another series imho.

The colour proof silver is stunning but the silver bullion non colour has the viewers eyes struggling to define the image. The coloured dragon image doesn't translate well into non colour.
I was waiting for a non colour 1 kilo silver but now seeing the image on the 1oz, that's not going to happen. The 1 kilo silver coloured bullion is double the price of the non colour ..not paying that for a splash of colour.

Meh. The dragon looks a bit like it’s got chicken feet. I’ll collect a round of six each of the 1/10, 1/4, 1/2 and 1oz for each of my 6 children but no more than that.

The gold design is nice, but not as nice as the series II dragon. The silver design is so ugly that I decided to get rid of my Rat,Ox, Tiger and Rabbit because I am not going to collect this series seeing this ugly dragon design. Being a Chinese, dragon is one of the superior Lunar Zodiac.
