Here we are, 100 years later, that I wondered how Tenor (Cantor) Aleksandrovich would take to the global social comments, as well as the global chaos? Would have been fun to hear him sing as the 4th tenor, with Domingo, Carreras, Pavarotti. Or even with fellow Tenor (Cantor) Tucker. How the opera years have been richer then all the greed for gold, oil, occupation, power...Thank you fellow opera lovers for your shares. Best to all and 🕊
Un tenor que canta y no grita o "empuja" la voz. Hace pensar en Lemeschev. Una escuela de canto que permite de cantar sin perder nada y dejando la impresion que se canta y no que se hacen esfuerzos desmesurados después de haber enronquecido, rigidificado o roto la voz. Una escuela que debe venir de siglos anteriores y que es la única que permaneció en el siglo veinte, al menos en la época soviética o salvo raras excepciones. Me suena más canto que "técnica".
Es clásico atribuir a la labor realizada en San Petersburgo por insignes representantes del canto decimonónico, como Angelo Masini y Mattia Batistini, el haber dado inicio a toda una escuela de canto en la Rusia Imperial. Esto, conjuntamente con el hecho de permanecer ajenos durante mucho tiempo a los modos imperantes en el resto de Europa de la _nuova scuola_ , con Caruso a la cabeza, posibilitó que en Rusia se siguiera "cantando" hasta bastante avanzado el siglo XX. Esta escuela, la de los cantantes completos e integrales al estilo de los Marconi, Gayarré, Masini o incluso el mismo Tamagno, que supieron cantar todo el repertorio tenoril de su época, desde Elisir o Poliuto hasta Otello, está definitivamente perdida en el mundo hace décadas. Podríamos decir que murió con su último gran abanderado: Giacomo Lauri Volpi.

I’m sure he could have done the final Bb….he certainly delivered a beautiful one a few measures back. In my opinion listening to this was a lesson in wonderful technique!!
Exceptional voice, impressive technique and in this area "Cielo e mar" and "O paradiso" are probably the top arias. Although I would also assume that his voice is very diverse, without really knowing it. But he could sing anything, from the lyrical to the heroic. Heartfelt greetings from Germany, André
I wasn’t really listening to this and then suddenly its beauty hit me. I usually love both Bjorling and Kaufmann, but neither of them sing it so well. I did not like the aria at all until I heard this version. What a wonderful voice.
Una aria de una dificultad muy especial para todos los tenores. Este tenor es una voz que interpreta con sus facultades de tenor ligero y muy estudioso de las mismas, la tecnica de leonid sovinov, lemeshev, muy bien por esta gran interpretación.
Nada espectacular en su interpretación del aria Cielo e mar de La gioconda de Ponchielli. Su voz tiene el mismo timbre de la voz del gran Iván Kozlovsky, tenor de la misma especie pero mejor dotado con grandes agudos con squillo, un amplísimo fiato y una longevidad vocal como poquísimos tenores la han tenido. En cambio, Michail Aleksandrovich tiene agudos bien opacos, siendo mucho mejor la versión de otro tenor similar, la del gran Alfredo Kraus, que la canta con gran despliege de messa di voce, amplío fiato, excelente fraseo y agudos brillantes. Hay que comparar las voces para tener una mejor noción sobre las cualidades de cada cantante. Por ejemplo, si una persona por primera vez escucha a un tenor, de impresión le parecerá el mejor si no escucha otros tenores y compara sus voces e interpretaciones, a fin de entender mejor las grandes diversidades del arte del canto. @@achmedmohamed4708 Tanks for the info. I have to agree that it is a small voice, I didn't mean 'great' as 'big', but as having good technique. As of the flatness I'd blame, at least partially the language. Spoke Russian sounds flat compared to romance languages.

This is lovely, but is it really La Gioconda ? The voice and style would be better suited to Bellini or to French works like Les Pêcheurs de perles. Or perhaps Mozart.

Nada espectacular en su interpretación del aria Cielo e mar de La gioconda de Ponchielli. This is an electric recording recorded after 1926.
It is a very small and flat singing voice.
No wonder why this tenor was not famous.

Vocally, this is an impressive document. However, it is overly sentimental and hardly descriptive of Enzo's character.
