Flextail Tiny Pump X Review

- In todays video I am reviewing my Flextail Tiny Pump X. As the name suggests this is a tiny little electric pump that is ideal for inflating sleep pads when camping. Inflating my sleeping pad roughly 150 times with a pump sack when completing the Appalachian Trail a few years back became somewhat tedious to say the least, so ahead of riding the GDMBR last year I wanted to find an alternative that would do the job for me. This Tiny Pump was ideal as it was small, light, and claimed to be able to get many inflations off a single charge, a claim which I test in this review.

Perfect
Nice one Mat … think I will get the new version … as you say, can’t go wrong at that size/price. Cheers
I think the new one will work out. It's pretty simple and seems to be working well so far.
On my list to buy the latest model. A bonus is you don’t need to hold it. For such a simple job it’s surprisingly annoying to hand inflate a sleeping pad.
Agreed 👌👍
Yep. Having to inflate one night after night gets annoying.
@@matryderreviews yes, especially when lost air is hissing through your fingers via a loose fitting nozzle 🤬
Handy little gadget, flaws, and all. Nothing is perfect 😊
If it could blow dry hair, it would be awesome!😂
Flextail do make some great products. I've had the Flextail pump without the light and got a Tiny Repel. Recently got the New Zero Pump as well, but not used it in the wild yet so can't comment on it either. Does seem a better fit though on my S2S pad.
Also both pumps have suction too, I guess in case you need to leave camp urgently or something ha.
I think the new one will work out. They seem to make some good reliable gear.
I've got the same Flextail pump and X-therm pad and I too have to hold the nozzle on whilst inflating, sometimes losing air if I move my hand.
First world problems, I know. Just sayin' ...
Oh, there's a new version. Great 👍
It's very close to being the perfect pump but not quite there. Hopefully the new one will work out.
@@matryderreviews the new Flextail Zero pump has a replaceable, and rechargeable battery. That's going to be great for long distance trips.
It comes with a 650 mAh (R)CR123A battery (some manufacturers label them as 16340 ) and replacement ones are only a few quid and come in higher capacities than the supplied 650 mAh one, so carrying a pre charged spare at 25 grams will see you through many days between charges.
Me likey 😀👍
Edit; the pump itself doesn't have a charge port, it's the actual battery that does!
So the £5 replacement rechargeable battery is now about a tenner but importantly, folks need to remember to get a battery with the inbuilt USB port.
You can of course use non rechargeable batteries but that will add up in the long term.
