    Having watched so many other videos I thought my choice was stab and grab or one at a time (the one with the longest name hehe!) but root a loop looks great for results without being over the top fiddly for a complete newbie. I have watched a few of your videos now and you are an excellent teacher - you make it look do-able but not so easy that beginners are in for a complete shock and your instructions are easy to follow and clear to see. Subscribed! xxxx

    Thank you for this, I just got into doing reborn dolls and the rooting of the hair had me so stressed out because i didnt want to end up ruining a pricey kit that I painted. I feel like the stab and grab or the root a loop can be used for the random hairs around the back of the head but then use the last method for around the face and hair line. I might even try the root a loop around the face and hair line, as it was only really inserting 1 hair at a time.

    • @Customdollbabycom
      @Customdollbabycom  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Pam's Life Thanks! You might try getting a practice head and resting your rooting hand on the vinyl as you root. This will get you used to holding the needle at a shallow angle. Once you've got a feel for that, you'll be pointing those hairs in any direction you like! Hope this helps: customdollbaby.com/3/post/2015/12/reborn-with-me-part-15-directional-rooting.html

      42g crown works well for most types of hair. But you may use a smaller needle (43g - 46g) for fine hair or a larger needle for thicker hair/

    • @Customdollbabycom
      @Customdollbabycom  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Brielle jacobs I think so. Silicone is very sticky and very stretchy, so it does a nice job of holding on to rooted hair. It's recommended to use a comb instead of a brush to style hair on a rooted silicone doll so you don't pull out any hair. Good luck! :)

    what is the difference between the crown and the ultra fine strong needles? Do you use the same needle for the whole head?

    • @Customdollbabycom
      @Customdollbabycom  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It looks like they are two different brands of rooting needles. The "ultra fine strong needles" claim to have smaller barbs, but you'd need a microscope to see if that is actually the case. Crown needles have barbs as small as 0.02mm (20 microns), but there's no way to know if the ultra fine are smaller or comparable without trying it. If you'd like to send me some ultra fine needles, I'd be happy to test them thoroughly and write up a detailed product review. :)
      For your second question, I tend to use a smaller needle on the hairline and a larger needle in the back, depending on the type of hair. I always recommend trying different needles for your rooting project because you'll get different results depending on the type of hair you're using. I'm selling rooting needle sets for a limited time to make it easy to try a variety of gauges without having to spend a lot of money. customdollbaby.com/store/c4/Beginner%27s_Samplers.html

      +Christopher Robins Depends on the kind of tool you have. If you're using a mushroom tool or something with a similar pin vice, you can use a strong pair of wire cutters to snip off the part of the needle that won't fit. This little video may help: th-cam.com/video/wbzgcquZddk/w-d-xo.html
