- Join me as I create a civil war era 'working women's' petticoat. I go over how to do a flat fell seem, a whip stitch and just a plain how I made the whole thing! I hope you learn something new and get inspired from my first tutorial!
Nice!! I've made several petticoats out of bedsheets. It turned out so well!
They are handy (and a lot cheaper) I was amazed how much fabric goes into a petticoat.
Thank you!!!, I was glad that the vertical stripes of the skirt didn't clash with the horizontal stripes of the ruffle!
What tutorial did you use?
I just stumbled upon your channel! I too am a girl of a different era. Your style is so beautiful and quaint, I think clothes from the 1800s are absolutely amazing! I believe my soul belongs in the 1950s, so I've been trying to make clothes from that era. ❤️
Thank you so much!
Your comment made my day! So glad you love my channel! The 1950s are so amazing and I love those vintage decades!!
I even have some fun vintage content coming up! That is awesome that your making some ‘50s clothes!
Im gonna make one!!! I can't wait, thank you for documenting your process, it was veey helpful to watch you ❤
Well, thanks so much for watching the video!!!
And I am so very grateful that is has helped you!
I would love to know how yours turns out!
So great to have found you! I've been interested in historical sewing for over a year now, but although the usual channels in the area are quite great regarding the sewing, I clearly have a preference when I find a fellow Christian, because I think the love for our Lord unites us in a different manner...I hope your channel will grow, because you clearly deserve it (sorry for any language mistake, I'm swiss). God bless you!
Thankyou so much for your kind words! They mean so much to me!
I hope you continue to enjoy my channel!
I just found your video today. You made it sound really simple and I'm very glad that I watched!
Its great to know you felt like you learned from it! That is super encouraging to hear!
Whoa that turned out so well! And awesome job on the editing and background music!!!
Thank you for watching it though!!
I love the music too!
I really enjoyed this video. What an amazing piece you made.
Thankyou so much!!!
I've actually made a petticoat out of a Queen sized bed ruffle that a friend gave me. It had pin tucks and insertion lace..
When I saw it, I said petticoat...!!
😁
That sounds perfect what a great idea!!
Beautifully done ❤ Thank you for sharing
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!! I have great use out of this petticoat in the last few years!!
Oh this is so cool!!! I am so excited to see more!!!
Yes, I am excited to so more work on that outfit soonish!
How can you iron on that wooden table? Is it stained? Is it just impervious to heat somehow? It seems to be a splendid solution.
Well, I did that since at the time I didn't have an ironing board, if you put a towel on top it protects the table but, most of the time I just used it bare, if you don't let the iron stay in one place long it seems perfectly fine!
Does it tie in the back?
Hey what’s the dimensions
I cannot make out much of what you are saying - perhaps closed captions would help?
What pattern did you use?
I used Simplicity 9764 'The Fasion Historian Martha Mcain'
I like your attitude! You seem like a sweet person to be around.
Why do you steam iron on a wood surface? Won't that harm the wood over time?
Thank you! Yes it probably would, I just didn't have an ironing board at the time.
What are the dimensions
