    I drove it yesterday at Hyundai Sandton open day, I loved the handling but I would love more power to really push me back in seat.

    I'll buy second hand at about half the price

      You will have to wait a while at least 4 years to get one for half price, here in the UK low mileage 3 year old examples still fetch nearly £20,000 and they are only £29,500 new.

    That price point will get you a new BMW 330i with the luxury/comfort of an S-Class and all the sportiness you could need (including pops/crackles in sport mode). Not a hot hatch no, but far better value IMO and will happily take any GTi on robot to robot.

      This car is not boring straightline racing vehicle and all about power, no skill in that. It's all about the corners and three wheeling around a corner and hard braking before approaching a tight corners. The host never mentioned it actually has over 1000 driving setups on screen to suite your driving. So yes the bmw is more powerful but this manual N model car is more for cornering skilled drivers not for amateur straightliners and drivers who prefer lazy cars that do all the work for them.

      I think you are confusing the 330i with an M3 as the 330i is far from a sports racer which is all about power. To the contrary its a very boring car to drive for the most part when in eco mode, floating around like you would expect from an old-man's Merc. That said, if you decide to switch on sport mode and disable traction control it becomes 100% about driver control (akin somewhat to a Golf GTi). Having taken it onto the skid pans myself I know that BMW will save your butt with all tech switched on (agree there) but when you want to play (tech disabled), you need a lot of skill or you spin out and won't make those corners at all. Alas its apples vs pears here - sedan vs hatch, so not really an accurate comparison. My point was less about the differences between cars and more the price comparison. Get more bang for buck (choice of both boring and hot car) out of the Bemmer than you do out of the Hyundai. That said, any hatch is going to handle differently to any sedan and invariably more fun to drive around corners from that perspective - having been a hatch person before myself.

      @@damianpfister1 That's not a good comparision. First of all, i don't know where you live, but where i live a new 330i without any optional equipment starts at 43k euro, so you're looking really at a 50k price range for a well equipped one. This i30n is 30k Euro flat with everything you can have on it, because it's full equipped from the beginning, so way cheaper price. Second of all, it's not a good comparision because people won't buy a hot hatch for luxury and comfort, that's totally against the reason you get a hot hatch. You get one for twisty roads, occasional tracks and overall fun while driving.

    • @damianpfister1
      @damianpfister1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LikeHoldMe you are absolutely correct. It isnt an apples to apples comparison at all - hot hatch is a totally different experience altogether. My point was purely down to cost and based on the video here the price of this car vs the BMW is somewhat similar with pretty much similar tech (the beemer having more as standard without the need to spec it up from base). R680,000 mentioned in this video is around R50,000 more than I paid for my new 330i last year. Yes I know, cars are expensive in South Africa!
      So I will concede that my comment was probably not well placed as I should have perhaps compared a 1 series hatch to the Hyundai and not a Sedan.
      Honestly, although I wouldnt be able to justify the cost of this hot hatch myself, I certainly wouldnt mind taking one for a spin!
