You can't compare these cars, the A45 is in a completely different league. 1) its AWD 2) its 50k 3)its Auto You didn't mention the Hyundai 5-year warranty that also covers track days! You can do 0-60 in 5.3 secs if you nail it in the N The N is much more comfortable for taller drivers, I'm 6"5 trust me.. I tried nearly every hot hatch on the market, the N is the best for long legs, there is far more headroom, wireless phone charging, Heated seats, heated steering wheel, lane keep assist, collision auto braking.. ect. The A45 is a high end hot hatch, the N is a budget hot hatch. It's like putting mo farah against Usain Bolt.... but its ok because they're bother runners.... come on guys really.... This comparison should never have been done.
i30 N = driver's car. A35 = living room with a google assistent. I own an i30 N and have driven an A35. I wouldn't trade mine for 2 A35's. The interior of the Merc is impressive, but a) that's not what a hot hatch is about and b) the whole 'Mercedes!' thing? Comme on. We have Android Auto/Apple Carplay already, Merc. Everyone would have been perfectly happy if you installed that for free instead of charging 300£ for it.
Some good points made on both cars, I think what you want from the car will determine what car an individual will end up buying. Like you said more people will buy the Merc just because it's a nice car. The i30N is more of a niche market.

I started off looking at A35 and ended up buying the V6 Kia Stinger GTS. Went from A35 to looking at C43, looked at S5 then as a result. Both were good cars but didn’t offer anything that felt special. Like you said about the Hyundai N community there is a similar following for the Stinger and the Stinger just felt more fun. The point you were talking about re the badge is a big thing in this country and not even the superior reliability and long term quality (over short term perceived quality in German cars) can sway buyers.
@@scottlewis3664 for sure. My brother had an ST. The N ran rings round it. To be fair though his was a 2007 mk3. Being a newer car the N just delivers power more smoothly. The b roads and track is where the car comes alive. On a track, you will be quicker than an BMW M2 in the corners, but not the straights.
I30N is really nice! Love rally sport and they winning. But I think the interior by the i30 can be way better! Make a dash in rally style behind the steering wheel give it a rally up and down gear box maybe bigger hand brakes. What stands up like a wrc car! It’s a South Korean brand so look up what Samsung did with the brand it’s now comparing with the apple luxury! So even a drivers car ore petrol head car can have a little bit more futuristische tough!
It has launched in South Africa - honestly not as good as you'd think rather buy a Hyundai accent 1.6 hatch than the i20 N it's much faster and much better value
I'd been led to believe that the new A-Class is a baby S-Class and was wanting to physically downsize from the size of the S down to something the size of an A. But after a test drive of the A-Class, you really can't call it luxurious. It's just good. It's not great. The number of things I'd be giving up would be too much. I couldn't do it. I'd miss the quietness from double-glazing, the soft-close doors, the massage seats, night-vision, the comfort seats (in which you can do a 10-hour drive and get out still feeling good). If they did a luxury pack it would help.
I've test driven both.........and loved both. But can only afford the i30N (at present). Ultimately I prefer a manaul box which is why I sold my GTi 7.5 DSG and now have (by the time anyone reads this) a i30N. Thank you.
List price of cars nowadays is almost irrelevant as most people I reckon only care about the monthly costs be that PCP or Lease. The 45k Merc is only a few pounds more than the 28K hyundai per month. Shame the Mercedes exhaust note is so poor compared to the Hyundai
The A35 can be both, it's got both boxes ticked. A hooligan when you want it to be, but refined the rest. You can't put a price on it in my books. But the i30n is a cool car. I'd have one but not over the A35
I've driven both and in the corners the A35 is lacking in regards to the i30N...on the straight sure it's faster but that's mostly due to 4 wheel and more torque...but it's not that much faster...a stage 1 gets that sorted and you're still at a 9.5k price difference i guess...more digital tech sounds good but if you want to keep your car for a while, when that stuff will start breaking u might aswell just sell the car...i like tech i really do, but not too much...once something electronics wise starts to go in a car it gets pretty expensive...

Sold my I30N and bought a GLA45, best decision I made. I30N was a great car which sounds fantastic until it had its issues (5 times in the garage, the year I owned it).
What issues were they ? If you go on the N forums the only issues people are having were the early build recalls which were fixed by Hyundai. There isn't even a reported engine failure thread on there yet

The torsion bar in the boot gets in the way loads when the seats are down - but otherwise, I think it's almost the perfect car; fast, comfortable, good fun and reliable. I love it!

I've managed a 5.5 / 0 ‐ 60 in the right conditions. Veloster N but average I would say is sub 6 seconds 5.9 or so.
i really want an i30n as my next car, might be saving for a couple of years for a deposit though 😂
