Rickson still looked disappointed and a half hearted hug. What a crazy to see that even winning is not enough plus coming back. That has to be hard as a child of a legend.
Love how he mentions the spirit taking over when you train hard. I’ve known many people in my time in MMA that won on spirit, even when chips were down, even when they were less skilled. I learned so much from them - the heart of the fighter and who wants it the most is what matters in the end.
I was sitting next to tonnons mum. I talked to him after the match. His mum was literally the only person he came with him to Beijing. He said he had no idea that there were only a few seconds left on the clock. Had he known, he wouldn't of tapped.
One day Stuart Cooper said "I think I'm going to try to make a jiu-jitsu movie".....and today he's the greatest documentary film maker in the genre. Please never stop.
I was thinking all he thought was "well you beat the guy you were supposed to beat" not knowing just how big and much kron had to overcome and win also feeling.
That was great. I have been there by the way. Wrestling in World Cup Down 4 point against the Russian right off the start, ground to tie over 5 mins. Graced with OT to sudden death. Got the score. I felt the exact same mate. I did not give up and kept fighting. I was proud and lucky to pull it off. Do Jujitsu now in my latter year, thank God I found Jujistsu.
Totally. Stuart's older video on this includes Eddie Bravo saying something like "He blew right through Andy Wang in thirty seconds. I love you Andy but..."
Andy wang and kron fight before when both of them are not black belt. Kron cannot submit andy on that time. Just a couple of years, only 10dec andy is finish

I like that mindset of not thinking about scoring points. He had himself convinced that he HAD to get the submission and I believe that made all the difference. Great match, great video too.

This fight is one of the best of all time. What a match. Kron on that day was on point in every thing he did. Fuck it was the most amazing performance I saw in ADCC, one of the most in Jiu Jitsu. He dominated his opponents flawlessly. It was great. I'm really sad that he stopped competing because he was dope. His jiu jitsu is so good to watch.
"It is better to lose than have a boring match." - Garry He was literally just having fun. He says it all the time. He doesn't take BJJ that serious when it comes to wins and losses. It is just a grappling match. That is why he gives up his back all the time.
I remember reading or hearing about this match but you do not really think anything of it. However when you have a talented videographer like Stuart Cooper create and exceptional video about, what was going through the mind of a great competitor like Kron Gracie, it relays a motivational message that can change lives for the better. Outstanding work! P.S. The video you made with Josh Hinger discussing your past trials and tribulations will save the lives of many people in the future. Its krons advantage over others to grow up Gracie to have a dad who the best bjj praticioner ever one of.....and for kron to grow up all his life training bjj and learning weird tricks and having the knowledge of the Gracie fighting dynasty to pick from and learn from its a distinct advantage so to have the pressure of Rickson krons father at side of mat where krons competing I would say isnt much pressure the pros out weigh the cons with regards to krons father Rickson being mat side at krons bjj matches....
