The way the Japanese male protagonist voices just progressively get more high pitched
Japan loves their high-pitched teenage boys; around half of them are voiced by women.
Sometimes it works, but it just seems weird to have 15+ year olds voiced by women. Especially if they don’t pitch their voice lower.
@@claiternaiter446 agreed, I don’t think it works for these particular protagonists, just seems weird to have them so high pitch.
180 likes and 3 replies I'll changed that
@@DaLucster72 it works for Makoto, but he's the only one who actually sounds like a boy. Hajime sounds younger than he really is, and Shuichi legit sounds like a girl
"Allow me to cut through your words" is always such a clean line.
peak of objections fs
"Literally, as in, I need to cut them in a mini-game"
I’ve always loved how epic Hajime’s counters were in game
English Hajime: Sounds about the right age
Japanese Hajime: Sounds 13
Japanese shuichi: I sound like kaede
English hajime is ADACHI
you know its bad when japanese hajime and chiaki sound alike LOL 2:47
@@droppings You have to admit tho. Them saying "No, that's wrong" together in japanese sounds so much cooler than in English

You forgot Maki’s Japanese “I’ll kill your logic”.
@MR10\\MegaRetarded10 it exists
@MR10\\MegaRetarded10 you are wrong they exist im sure of it
@MR10 No, that's wrong! ( th-cam.com/video/9KHxToDiIBc/w-d-xo.html )
You are right!
Yes
Gundham’s Japanese “INFINITY UNLIMITED FLAME” caught me WAY off-guard.
When Gundham talks so much that his line cuts into the breaks
Kiyo's first cut-in and Kokichi's fake cut-in do the same deal in Japanese.
Nice to include kaede’s voice lines from the demo
Oh, so that’s where they’re from.
Gundham’s English translation was so wordy it exceeded the length of the cut-in animation lmaoooooo
His Japanese one did too. Granted, it fits him either way, lol.
It’s so depressing to see the amount of people decreasing in the scrum debate lmfao
That ending with Himiko sounds so cute
6:59
Yes
that's a bug, the whole screen should've exploded
@@benetone8244 Yeah, but she was out of MP.
I love how hajime’s Ahoge moves it’s so adorable >w
hes such a cutie ^_^
I often prefer original voice acting over localisation but this is not one of those times, the English localisation team did such a good job and the voice actors all fit their roles perfectly
^
Except Makoto is still better in Japanese
@@emptyvoid5272 nope i think makoto eng dub did better in the voicing department
@@emptyvoid5272 nuh uh
@@justsomebody5450 makoto was some of the worst in the franchise lmao have his opening arguments makes my ears commit suicide
1:15 I love the difference between the same character
Hajime's "You're the only one!" Is the best culprit choosing line
hajimemes is such a gentleman... he says 'allow me to cut through your words' instead of saying 'I'LL CUT THROUGH YOUR WORDS'
Korekiyo:Your deductions are fiction
Thats not all thats fiction
Okay as a Kokichi hater I DO have to give the writers props here.
The contrast between nagito’s rebuttal showdown line being “no, that’s wrong.” In clear reference to Hajime’s line during non-stop debates is a REALLY COOL contrast to kokichi’s RB showdown line being “it’s my turn now.” Which contrasts Shuichi’s Scrum debate line.
The 'Culprit' voice lines are always the best, Hajime's "You're the only one!" is always on top of
2:58 Kaede's EN and JP VAs sound insanely similar 😳😳😳
6:47 dagalonpa
Gud point he did say danganlonpa
japanese doesn’t have the r sound so they pronounce it as l :)
@@avority Isn't it the other way around?
@@fixielle youre right i made a typo 😭
@@avority japanese sometimes pronounce l instead of r at times
People who dislike Hinata's JP voice just don't understand the Detective Conan joke
The reference makes sense, but Conan is a literal kid most of the time and Hinata is at least 15 or 16. It doesn’t help that he’s the tallest protagonist either. I know guys can have higher pitched voices, but it just doesn’t seem to fit to me. And it could just depend on which version ppl saw first and got used to.
@@claiternaiter446 it's your right I guess, I think Takayama Minami did a great job voicing Hinata though, he at least sounds like a teenager. Can't say the same about Saihara though, the reference doesn't really justify the casting there.
@@claiternaiter446 I agree. In my case, I find the JP voices totally normal. (I found Makoto and Shuichi English voices weird)
@@rnhnrn Damn I didn't know any guy with such a high pitch voice at 16 when I was in high school. He sounds like he's 8 lmao
Whats the joke?
Jp komeada: sore wa chigau yo~
Eng Nagito: nO ThAtS wONg
Shoutout to the person who had to do all the class trials all over to get the Japanese dubs voices as well
I’m weak at how almost every SDR2’s Japanese voice matches the character then there’s Hajime-
Bruh what about shuichi's ? 💀
Fr tho
1:15 in my opinion, Komaeda is the only character that fits both ENG and JP voice perfectly.
The JP voice gives us a more intimidating, calming Komaeda (he sounds scary in a way) while the ENG showes his "insanity" and sarcasm. (he sounds more deranged).
Both VA's did an amazing job.
Hajime's Ahoge just went ⇲⇱→
Kaede's EN voice sounds so similar to the original one!
The cool thing about Hajime JP voice is that he has the same voice that Conan of Detective Conan. Of the best detective in a Game about solving murders
The Japanese version basically has a female voice actor as the main character. All of them are super famous voice actors, but as far as Hajime is concerned, I completely agree that the English version has a calmer, more age-appropriate voice.
By the way, due to this voice and androgynous appearance, it was speculated that Shuuichi was a woman.
5:28 woah the Japanese language is very very powerful when people yell in unison!
Anyone else shooketh at Sonia’s “BOW DOWN!” at 1:35?
Really wanted to bow down actually
When I heard that during my playthrough, I felt my fighting spirit shrink a little and half considered letting her win before snapping back
@@gifigi600😦🤌
shuichi having a higher pitched voice than kaede is so cute.
2:39 Ill never wear comfortable shoes again!!!!
I WAS JUST GONNA COMMENT THIS
Kokichi’s JP voice sounds so fitting
I find it hilarious Hinata's JP voice is the exact same voice as Conan from Detective Conan. Which if you don't know, Conan is like 5. Hinata has the same voice as a 5 year old
It's also hilarious to me that Shuichi has the same JP VA as Haibara from Detective Conan. My new reason for wanting Hinata and Shuichi to meet is so they can both say "There is always one and only one truth!" As Makoto stares confused in the background
She’s also voices Pit and Dark/Black Pit in the Kid Icarus series.
Poor makoto while this two got a cool reason for their voice makoto share his voice with a ghost live in toilets💀
@@nonnon6856and, Yknow… Shinji Ikari from one of the most famous anime of all time
(Sharingan activation sound) THE KILLER IS… YOU! it doesn’t get old I swear
I always forget you play as Kiibo in the last trial, there's so much going on that it always slips my mind on replays/rewatches.
How the hell does Makoto have the deepest voice out of all of them?
It's funny how the Cut-Ins of the Non-Stop Debates, etc, from the English Dub don't have a visual of the letter V but in the Japanese Dub, all the Cut-Ins have it (Except for the Mass Panic Debate where you play as Keebo)
That's because they didn't hit the exact weak point that gives you that, it's harder to do than it looks.
@@notso_cody 2:57 look at where it says counter on the cutscene, in the jp vers, it has a V in the back
That "V" should appear on the english dub, provided that the weak spot is hit, but its a nice detail that all of the jp v3 voicelines are with the V Counter animation.
@@bleachedcarradio No, that's wrong, firstly, it's because of the V point was hit and secondly, even if the counter was different, it wouldn't have appreared since it's language is still English(JP have 论破 instead of counter)
Nagito's japanese "no, that's wrong" got me
1:18 shawty you better get some high heels then
New things
"HOLD ON" and more than 1 character agrees on something
2:43 my Filipino ass just heard em swearing
I can’t even describe how much I love Ogata’s Nagito and Makoto
Personally there’s nothing wrong with Hajime’s JP VA
“NoW i UnDeRsTaNd!!11”
shuichis japanese voice is higher than mikans
"Sore wa chigau yo!"
5:48,omg I need green screen with that
NOTHING could have prepared me for monokumas jp voice in drv3
Why shuichis japanese voice so high?
Different voice direction
he’s voiced by a girl in the japanese version lol
Because the Japanese love feminine boys.
Makoto’s voiced by a woman in the JP version too, and his JP voice is lower than his English voice 😆
All protagonists + Nagito and Chihiro are males who voiced by women. Though in Chihiro's case it's understandable. Then there's Sakura who is voiced by a man
It's quite late but Chihiro and Sakura are actually voiced by their own respective gender. I'm sorry for my ignorance in the past
2:14 ok?
He had to play the v3 demo just for kaedes mind mine and pysche taxi wow
Even though I consume mostly Japanese Dub in games cant help but to be fond of the english on this game. It just fits perfectly that goes for the 2 and 3. Cant say for 1 the JP is really good there
5:11 best one
THE MAIN PROTAGONISTS IN JAPANESE (always the boys) IN THIS GAME SOUND LIKE BABIES BUT IN ENGLISH THEY SOUND THEIR AGE
the japanese va's are so underappreciated. minami takayama and megumi hayashibara absolutely bodied hinata and saihara and their acting overall is imo better than their english counterparts yet they're just kinda dismissed as being "too high." like, okay, preferences are preferences, but that doesn't change the fact that grant george sounds like he's in an infomercial half the time and while JYB is usually a very good voice actor i thought his hinata was kinda bland.
3:55 Wait, since when Kaede plays this mini game ?!
It was in the demo, I believe
@@beapispeapis oh! Interresting. Thanks !
0:40 When does he say that?
When Teruteru claims being in the dining hall when you shoot [I was in the dinning hall]
Something about the English cast is just so perfect, they all fit their roles so well
Kaede is the best Protaganist
Not a fan of the protagonists being voiced by women in the Japanese version. I think it makes sense when they’re very young and should have the voice of the child, but they’re supposed to be high school students, there voices shouldn’t be so high pitched.
Makoto still sounds a bit deep in JP.
@@ChiefMedicPururuI can agree with that. The VA for Makoto does a good job of giving him a childlike voice while still sounding pretty accurate for a teenage boy.
They don’t sound too young in the Japanese version actually, sound of them are normal in Japan, they both sounds great, isn’t it?(Btw many male characters’ dubber are actually female) :D
@@user-vc4dd7jx7u They absolutely sound young, unless you're telling me Japanese teen boy are higher pitched than other countries.
am i the only one who likes makoto’s japanese voice better…🤭
Nope I like the Japanese voice too❤
Kaede english and japanese voice is pretty similar
Wait…
You can do the mini games as Kaede?!
…HOW?!
They were from the demo I think
@@djirishbacon that’s what I heard
Play the game... Since that information can be accessed through normal method, I will not spoil here
"The culprit's one of you!"

Wow me, Makoto, Kaede and Shuichi look so cool and my our Japanese voice is good too.
Am I forgetting something? I thought Shuichi had a crossswords during the MM trial while you play as keebo
Oh so Gundham is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita?
Yes.

In v3 every Japan refutation is V
Hajime's japanese voice doesn't fit him like at all

The English translate: ...
wait... shuichis jp va sounds a bit too feminine for his character,, i think this is one of the rare cases when i prefer the English va
