I was around at the time and to be fair Marc Bolan was one of the only established artists who promoted punk, most of them tried to ridicule it because they were frightened it would signal the end of their careers. I've always respected him for that.

Oh my god, this takes me back to summer '77, 14 years old, on holiday in England (I'm from the Netherlands), visiting my nephews in London's Norwood Green and listening to their mini-cassette player, playing The Pistols, the Clash, The Stranglers and.. the Jam.. All Around the World was a fresh hit and it changed me and my life.. Away with prog rock and other shit, the door got opened..:-)

The 1st lineup of the Wipers (who Nirvana contributed a cover for a tribute album).. the only life sample is on 10-29-79.. but what a freight train from three mega-talented musicians). Also the Who in '76... As Entwistle said of that tour, "We could have played forever".

It's amazing Weller and Foxton didn't play together and barely spoke for 28 years following the end of the Jam until Wellers dad and Foxton's wife died within a few weeks of each other in 2010. It must have brought home that lifes too short for that kind of shit. This btw is a great record so exciting and innovative back in 1977.
