Robert, your analysis and choice of games is perfectly good enough to attract viewers to your channel without the clickbait. There is nothing "scandalous" about the game Lazavik-Carlsen, even if Magnus lost.
In Fide's place I wouldn't necessarily have pushed this, but as a participant, you owe the organizers a certain amount of respect, even if you don't agree with them. When I compete I always try to respect the organizers, who have worked hard to put on an event and have many things to consider other than my personal interests. And when Carlsen said 'It became a matter of principle', I am really struggling to see what generally applicable principle he is fighting for here. The right of famous Norwegian chess-players to do whatever they like? Or what?
He wasn't kicked out. They didn't pair him for the next round with the option to continue the next day (assuming he follows the dress code). Not surprisingly he chose to drop out of the tournament.
The rules allow jeans 👖 and the tournament dress code was not well done and vague. I'm more interested in Magus games. Believe he was 5/8 and think this should be talked about more.
Well ... maybe (who knows?!) this was from his view some acceptable kind of possibility to avoid the shame of landing on a quite bad end rank in the final classement!? With 2,5/5 he was on rank 83 (if i remember correctly) after day 1 - so already with no realistic chance to achieve a good result anymore
My personal view is smart dress code doesn’t add anything to a chess tournament. Players should feel comfortable in their attire. As long as everyone is sensibly dressed, e.g. maybe not vest, shorts and flip flops, I don’t think it should be an issue. Just my humble opinion of course 🙂
It isn't about smart dress code or what you think about any other rules, it is about the simple fact that FIDE cant be seen to have one rule for Magnus and another for everyone else.
Magnus was one of the better dressed players! Forcing him to change beetween two games was not necesary. A fine and change for the games todaywould be the sensible solution. He has 17 world championsships and dont need more. He is finished with fide he said.
its an attitude problem, if one cannot obey a simple rule, too arrogant, he might have been dissapointed and frustrated that denis lazavik defeated him over board which ,many super gms, accused of cheating online
So Magnus loses a game, can you please refer me to the scandal. Someone wears jeans? You are doing a video in a crappy t shirt. For crying out loud, you are Dutch please act like one. Is your channel going that bad? I like your reviews but this was the last one for me.
Carlsen thinks he's bigger than the game, doing what he wants and ignoring rules. He thinks his Freestyle Chess is the future and has no respect for the history and culture of classical chess. The proper form of the game. When he was asked about giving up the World Championship and the problems it will cause, he replied: "Not my problem". Such a selfish and arrogant attitude. I've lost all respect for him. Great player, but a baby.
The ‘Stormy Petulant’ of the modern chess world

I quite agree. Robert is one of my favourite chess people but really the titles are misleading. The scandal about his jeans we know about!
i third this
Agreed, I really enjoy Robert’s videos, but the titles have become clickbait.

I will answer like Ris. I agree with Magnus, but I also agree with Fide. Please like, subscribe, and comment below. Hahaha!!
3 min walk to his hotel to change, MC is a jerk and a diva
Very disappointed in MC’s behaviour

It sound like Fide was consistent, and this is whatbthey must be otherwise they are bissed.

My man was placed 26th after 8 rounds and didn't wanta finish the tournament that way. So you blame fide, have a tantrum and leave.

Magnus ‘ Baby ‘ Carlsen .
