The Lyng looks like a well thought out and practical sleeping bag Dave. Glad they make it in a -20C comfort version, too. I think top zippers are the way to go.
Loving the look of the sleeping bag, I have a relatively cheap Sierra designs sleeping bag for the summer that has the ability to pop your feet out of and I love that as I hate my feet being constricted in a sleeping bag but haven’t seen anything yet that would work for cooler weather and I also prefer down so this looks ace!

I often feel sorry for the scouts as they have some dodgy gear the same. Not my son, though. Generally, they just accept it, even on rock-hard hall floors. Happy Christmas, Hedley!
Just a not on the Govee I have had one for a while but you do need to calibrate them as mine was 3c out and 5% out on humidity. If you get something more accurate then you can calibrate the Govee in the app to get it spot on as it stays in memory
Pretty accurate with the light tour matt. Had mines out the other week in -8 and was waking up a few times with cold spots. More comfortable than a XTherm but definitely not as warm. Keep up the good work. PS you look like Alan Partridge in his bubble wrap suit in your new sleeping bag 😂

Dave, thank you very much for this fabulous introduction, notably as it relates to the tent -> ... did you come across any condensation issues due to suboptimal ventilation ?
I did have the tops of the door flaps open, but there was not a breath of wind, so it was all just in the inner. The scarp is one of the better ventilated tents, but all tents get it. I wish it had zippable panels on the doors so you could tune it better. That would of helped, but I probably wouldn't have opened them to get warm. The big C, in some conditions , is inevitable. Fascinates me how it appears in certain areas in certain conditions. On my last camp, it was just the floor, my friend in his storm star was the same.

This tent's a glorified plastic bag, mate. Polycotton is the only way to go. Yeah, it's heavier, but it breathes better, doesn't flap around so much, and the rain sounds on it are amazing.

I have been using the Hilleberg Staika for years. About a year ago, I tried the Nortent Vern 1PC; after a few trips, I sold my Hilleberg. Today, I received the upgraded poles from the Vern 1 to use on the PC. They are 0.5 mm beefier. I have to sacrifice a few beers to make up for the weight, but the Vern 1PC is a cozy fortress. Now the Hilleberg fan boy's are going to have a heart attack. 😂
I have the original Scarp 1 and was thinking of upgrading to the ultra. Did you need to do any modifications to your original setup for the ultra fly to fit or is it a straight swop ? Great video by the way 👍🏻

Some amazing kit there! I too remember sleeping on a thin mat as a child, in a pathetic sleeping bag!
