Jim this was a great review for one main reason. You demonstrated how a whisky and it's owner can go through changes as you progress through the bottle. I loved the real reaction you had as you realized that whisky was not as fruity as you remembered. This is why you are so trusted my friend. Cheers.
I do like this whisky Bill...and I know I like it. But, some days when I'm recording my reviews, I have to tell myself that I like it. As I'm sure you know by now...I try to have a good feeling for a bottle before I review it. If it consistantly impresses me...then, even when it slips a bit, I'll still have a positive vibe about it. Likewise...if a whisky just under-performs but then catches me unawares....it's generally still ranked on its long term failures. This is why it's great for ME my friend, to have supporters like YOU who understand that whisky is subjective. It is changeable. We all differ but we're all like-minded. We are a beautiful community. Cheers buddy 🙏
I had this whisky several times and taste indeed varied from dram to dram. Also the bottles aren’t constant, some taste different than others. Never not liked a single dram of any of them. Love it. Awesome review and yet again one hell of an honest one.
Thanks Chay and Alan for bringing this up and thanks Jim for reviewing. Love (most of) the LochLomond expressions and a great IYLT...TTT expression. Slàinte mhath
Hi Jim, coincidence? Had this only yesterday in the hand but I was looking for an Irish dram. So on big Al’s recommendation got the Green Spot Lèoville Barton. Cheers Jim a good and enjoyable review.👍
Damn that big bugger! He's won this round 🤨 🤣🤣. You've made a good choice David. Both great whiskies mate. This whisky ain't going anywhere soon so.... Cheers fella.
I also am loving what they are bringing out with Loch Lomond and Glen Scotia. I only just bought this one myself a few weeks ago and only have a few drams from it. Going to have some more tonight on my live stream in a few hours. Cheers Jim!
Cheers man. Loch Lomond are a greater and greater draw for me because of their price, avalability and (ultimately of late) quality. I can easily say that I have more bottlings from them than any other distillery. I don't know whether to love them or hate them for this 😄😄
THIS sounds like my kind of whisky! Fruity, floral, malty ... and a bit of a tester. I've also enjoyed a dram of the GS 15. Excellent stuff. Countdown is on, Jimbo! :)
I think you'd enjoy this one Rich. A proper fruit filled whisky. If we can (IF), we'll maybe try to fit in a wee tasting at chez Ingram when you're over 😉. Get the "hallions" together. Cheers buddy.
There have been many times whilst drinking whisky, I'm not quite sure what I'm putting my finger on - but that's a story for another day!🤔😉 Great review mate.
Great review as always Jim. 👌🏻 I always find that LL improves after a while in an open bottle, it rounds off any bitter finish I sometimes find on the pop.
Cheers Simon. Safe to say I'm a LL fan but, that's not to say I'm head over heels in love with everything they put out. I'd agree that their whisky does improve with time and air. It can be quite "spirit forward" in some cases...(not a bad thing when you're putting down a great spirit)...but that little bit of oxidation helps round it off nicely. Thanks man.
Thanks so much for this series Jim 🙏. I tasted along with you on this one and thoroughly enjoyed the whisky/experience. I can see why so many speak highly of Loch Lomond 😋. Cheers my friend!
Many more to come Drew cheers. Yeah I'm really enjoying everything coming out of LL recently. Many more good great expressions to come hopefully. Thanks my friend.
It looks very more-ish it seems... Please don´t tell Roy but I prefer this to the famous LL 12 Chardonnay yeast special edition. Not with the neck pours but further down the bottles, though.
I've only ever had a sample of that bottling Doc and, although I remember really enjoying it...I can't remember how it compared to this Inchmurrin for me. Besides...Royalty like Roy don't dirty their boots in my comments section 🤣🤣🤣 Cheers my friend.
Great review I find myself having the same experience going through certain bottles as always an honest opinion much appreciated I will try this next the Glencadam 10 a favourite for value at the moment keep up the good work greetings from London 🍻
I have a bottle of the Inchmurrin NAS finished in Madeira Cask, is this 12 Y.O. expression not longer Madeira matured??. Excellent recommendation the G.S. 15 is one of the bottles I enjoy the most and always replaced. I've love to see more L.L. labels where i am.. Cheers Jim! 💪🥃
Cheers buddy. No this is all first fill and first fill recharred matured. To my knowledge (and I could be wrong here but...) LL are intending to only put out Inchmurrin and Inchmoan with the 12yr age statement from now on. All other Inchmurrin and Inchmoan releases are finished. Once again...I could be wrong about that. It was just something I thought I'd heard/read.
@@WhiskeyNovice ahh well, excellent tip 👍...then I will look for a couple more bottles of NAS and then wait for the new 12yr expressions to arrive. Thanks Jim. 🙏
My bottle of Inchmurrin 12 waits its turn to be opened. I love Glen Scotia 15. I don't expect the Inchmurrin 12 to be of the same caliber as Glen Scotia 15 but then again I paid far less for it. Cheers!
I wouldn't put the LL Inchmurrin 12 necessarily in the same group as the GS15. They're both great whiskies in their own part and, as you pretty much said...priced accordingly. Cheers buddy.
I like Loch Lomond a lot. I’ve only had the standard 12, and a couple of the older expressions but I’ve always liked them and they seem to be a tiny bit cheaper than some brands these days.
They do get their pricing right in my opinion. They've got a gteat range going on now from the bizarre (but great and affordable) to the sublime (equally great and affordable). There's no denying they have a way to go yet but...they're on the right path. Cheers buddy.
Nice vid! I've never heard of Loch Lomond until seeing in on the shelf yesterday. I don't think it's too common here in the states (I could be wrong as I'm more of a bourbon guy). From yours and other reviews it's seems compelling and packs considerable complexity esp for the price - under $40 here in NY and for a 12yr. Seems like a really good bang for the buck. Cheers!
@@WhiskeyNovice thanks Jim, I only see the 12 and 18 and a 50yr for $25k LOL. The 18 costing twice as much as the 12 so I'll probably hold off as well the 50yr for sure....haha....cheers!
While I have you, I'm planning a single malt tasting in a few weeks. I'd like to offer something from every region in Scotland. I have a list I'm considering of easy to find low-mid price. Could you advise? I can email. Thanks, and cheers!

Cheers Frank. It's always easy to review GOOD whisky 😁
Slàinte my friend.
To me, this was big, bold, fruity, grassy-floral and above all candy & sweets. Like you say complex and layered yet easy to drink. Cheers Jim
Cheers Menno. It is a class expression. It just had...a bit of an off day when I recorded this. Absolutely nothing to do with my palate 🤣🤣

Well, in my book the Inchmurrin 12 is a lot better and more complex than the standard Loch Lomond 12.
