If I had to guess, I'd guess a short somewhere, with all that snow, road salt, and self made battery boxes. But the main thing is, you guys got out from that weather. I was worried, and really relieved when the next vlog came out after the bad weather.
Tyler is an absolute legend for coming out himself and scooping you guys off the side of the road, and doubly so for sharing his shop to help you get your van sorted out, hopefully as you said it is just a bunch of errors, maybe just a glitch in the BMS from the sub-artic temperatures, stay safe, and heres praying its nothing serious or catastrophic
Well done Louie, loving this series. I'm in the UK for winter but I live in Ibiza - I've decided on a little adventure when I return next week - I'm taking the train from the UK to Ibiza !! Stopping in London, Paris, Barcelona & Valencia - thank you for the inspo
Today is Jan 14, and I still don’t know the end to this adventure other than the van breaking down. Hummmmm. What happened? I’m discouraged as a viewer.
Louis, you should be happy you made it this far, to be honest its not safe conditions. You and Cali are at risk and mother nature can be so unpredictable. I hope you made it to a warm and cozy place after this eventful day.
Hey Louis, I hope you are safe and warm in NY by now... You really ought to use the coolant loop to provide heat to your batteries. I would suggest adding a step up and down transformer (model STU-3000) it will add a 120/240v plug to your van powered by the ev charger. You can then use an inline water heater and pump to circulate heat thorough the battery pack as well as powering a heater inside the van. Charging even at 0c is a huge risk without some sort of heat source for your battery.
This was an edge of the seat watch. So glad you guys are safe. I know it's all done in real time now, but I am wishing you had a Christmas miracle. I love the Volts Wagon.
Hopefully, the next vlog will bring good news! I think beyond the mileage you already achieved, I think that this trip reflects how brave and inspire you are to accomplish your goal. Either way, if it's the end of the road trip because of the weather conditions or you can still continue, I think you have to be proud of yourself, and I'm sure Raya back in NY will be it too! Amazing Tyler's hospitality and help! Looking forward to watching the final episodes of this series! :) Greetings from Costa Rica! 😉😊
Loving the series! Can’t help but laugh a little at the snow wonder as a Canadian. It was hitting -40C where I am back when you filmed this! I would’ve loved -5 😅
I’m so impatient for an update that I just watched this video again! What happened to you, Callie and the van Louis? Did a miracle happen and were you able to complete the trip? Did the cold damage the batteries and cut the trip short? Did you get to Raya in time for Christmas regardless? Is the van salvageable and on its way to the UK? Please update us, you’ve left us in Tyler’s workshop sheltering from the snow storm for 9 days now! 😆
They spent Christmas together, it was on his tweeter account, whether the van made it with him I don't know. I hope he didn't kill his batteries and it was just a short that stopped him.
@@ianmilne655 good to know he made it back, I thought he would have even if he had to take another form of transport to get there. I too hope the van isn’t too badly affected by the cold. I was looking forward to seeing videos of adventures in it all over the British Isles and maybe spotting it in person as I’m embarking on my own travels around the coastline of the British Isles this spring/summer in my truck.
I noticed several chargers limited you at using only 7.2kw (2 chargers on). You might want to add a second j1772 port so you can dual charge. All things to upgrade for the next trip. Hope the batteries come back to life.
My guess is either salt water from the roads or a connection to two is loose im leaning towards a bad connection if seen it a few times in my projects.
I'm so glad you make it😊 Take time to read the comments, some of the people in this amazing community🎆 have a few ideas of what to check on the van before you change batteries.🤓 I hope they are right and the car is less damaged of what you thought.
What happened next, Louis? Did you make it? Greetings from Bulgaria!
Louis we need a update pls or the next episode we are checking TH-cam each day 👍👍
Only daily?! I'm out here refreshing like every hour :P
It’s getting more and more suspenseful. I hope everything worked out in the end, can’t wait for the next vlog.
I’m so happy this series is still going
Hey Louis, I hope you are safe and warm in NY by now... You really ought to use the coolant loop to provide heat to your batteries. I would suggest adding a step up and down transformer (model STU-3000) it will add a 120/240v plug to your van powered by the ev charger. You can then use an inline water heater and pump to circulate heat thorough the battery pack as well as powering a heater inside the van. Charging even at 0c is a huge risk without some sort of heat source for your battery.
Thanks for the 2023 gift of your vlog.
Please. We need an update...
Hoping for a good result tomorrow once everything is dried out. Stay strong!
Loving the series! Can’t help but laugh a little at the snow wonder as a Canadian. It was hitting -40C where I am back when you filmed this! I would’ve loved -5 😅
Wishing you safe travels my friend, I saw the thumbnail and said out loud... oh no! I hope Louis is alright, You got this brother!!!!
This episode was so good! the editing too! can see your getting into a proper flow and rhythm with the van, really cool to see!
Louis I love your perseverance 😳
Thank you Tyler, you are a Human Angel!
So close. I admire your positive outlook on this journey no matter the circumstances
9:15 Oh Louis, I’m so glad you received such a warm reception in my home state of Ohio.
I noticed several chargers limited you at using only 7.2kw (2 chargers on). You might want to add a second j1772 port so you can dual charge. All things to upgrade for the next trip. Hope the batteries come back to life.
If it's any consolation, when I was stationed in Iceland, back in the 70's, the VW van was highly favored!!
Make sure you wash the underside of the van. That snow might have some road salt on it and it will rust the underneath of the van.
We must see how this ended!! We’ve followed your whole journey!
I’m so grateful that Tyler was able to get you off that Highway. Can not wait to see the rest of what happened!!!
My guess is either salt water from the roads or a connection to two is loose im leaning towards a bad connection if seen it a few times in my projects.
Really should have strapped a generator to the back of the van. Would have meant a overnight emergency charge+heat
We miss your videos!
So, did Louis make it to NY? No news since Day 16 breakdown.
I'm so glad you make it😊
Take time to read the comments, some of the people in this amazing community🎆 have a few ideas of what to check on the van before you change batteries.🤓
I hope they are right and the car is less damaged of what you thought.
I hope from this point you got a plane to NY and after this well deserved vacation , you'll continue vlogging about the van rescue and transferring it to the UK.
I'm so glad you are Ok 🎆😃
It was so stressful to see the blog while you were out there.
Thanks for posting those photos of Christmas in Instagram.
Have a Great Year!! 😊🎆🌻🌤️
Thanks for the amazing series!!!
