  • The Omega compressors have a reputation for high performance at competitive prices. The new Omega Trail Charger has many features in common with its bigger brothers. The Omega Trail Charger is designed as a portable machine that can run off of a 110V wall outlet with included inverter or a 12V car battery. The Trail Charger is water cooled this is a vital feature for long service life. The filling of a rifle or pistol is hassle free with an auto shut off that the user sets at the desired pressure. This eliminates the user from having to watch the fill pressure gauge as the compressor does its job. The Omega Trail Charger is capable of filling directly to a gun or a bottle. The run time to fill a 190cc cylinder from 1800psi to 3300psi is a swift 2:30 minutes. The Trail Charger filled a 480cc carbon bottle from 1800psi to 3500psi in a mere 8:30 minutes. The duty cycle of the machine is 30 minutes run / 20 minutes cool. This allows for filling of larger tanks as long as the unit is allowed to cool. We tested the Trail Charger on a empty 18cf tank and it filled from 0 to 4500 in only 90 minutes of run time. Larger tanks can be filled as well, although this is not the primary function of this small portable compressor. Included features are a water site-glass, a grease pot for internal lubrication, burst disc, bleed valve to remove moisture, breaker switch, cables for car battery use, inverter for home or office, carry handles and rubber feet. The Omega Trail Charger is the gold standard in portable filling systems.
    12V Power
    110V Inverter Included
    4500 psi Output
    Easy Adjust Pressure Shutoff
    Water and Air Cooled
    Self-Sufficient Portable Design
    Manual Moisture Bleed

Wow! What an impressive and versatile unit. I really like the fact that it is liquid cooled and allows for either 12 volt or 110 AC currents. The ultimate home/portable unit. This is definitely on my wish list ! Great review and THANX !

I own a Trail Charger and love it! I just wish it had a hour meter on it from the factory. I did add a mechanical timer after about 1/2 hour run time. Other than that its great, so is the video.

I've been looking hard at compressors and this is the nicest one I've seen yet. Water cooling will extend the life of the unit. I was curious about the grease type, and how to determine when to add more with the syringe. I suppose that's in the manual.🤔😺

Nice review. Looks like a well made portable setup. What is Omega saying about mean time to overhaul? How much to ship this to Georgia?

Will it top off a 60min scba tank from 3000psi to 4500psi ? Even if I had to do it in sessions would be fine What’s your thoughts?

Do you folks have recommendations on a good carry case for it? I'd like to keep the dust out and protect it from dings and scratches.

Mine has been great! Filling fx crown and custom Brod with 580cc tank.
It is much much quieter than Yong heng and even the Nomad. I run it inside my closet and close the closet door. My baby will sleep through the fill of both my guns.

Make sure your pump has the upgraded high pressure piston as it may fail. Mine has lasted 3 hours to 4 hours or in my case 18 fills of a 400cc fx impact bottle, and the old style piston has failed, the piston drilling s block, and the piston slowly grinds to a halt about 200 bar. After removing and cleaning the check valve below the burst disc, if this fails to rectify the fault then its probably the high pressure piston. Its a known problem hence the new designed piston.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE THIS PUMP !!!!!!!!!! and if the new piston rectifies the problem its going to be a great item.
I would suggest that the dealer gets a slack handful of high pressure pistons and overhaul kits in and a supply of the special grease required to lubricate the pump as its made in America.
Here in the UK its not readily available as the maker does not ship to the UK, although the UK importers do supply it in small tubes, not really adequate enough if you have to strip it down.
I done a load of looking around to find a pump which is reasonably priced, give you good usability.
I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PUMP HIGHLY just iron out its niggles and this has great potential.
What is required is good after sales of the spares and repair parts.
It would be great if the dealers also contact the manufacturer, to make repair videos of there product. Not everyone has a local Omega repair specialist next door. We have only one in the UK and they are importers not specialist technicians.
We all know that PCPs and High Pressure Pumps are the way ahead. We have loads of videos on the FX Impact, why not for the charging pump repairs and servicing for the pumps.

Can you use this compressor to charge 100 cu ft tank?

    • @crypto_creep8222
      @crypto_creep8222 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I guess you could if you did it in small increments. Like run it for 30 min let it rest repeat. Its main purpose is for filling small tanks and rifles. As you can take it with you so no need for a large tank. Or say you have a buddy bottle for a day of hunts you can fill it in no time and be back on your grind. Hope this helps.

Hi Jared. What about moisture? Are we sure that no water will go in the gun or the tank? Can you tell we more about the filtering system? Great review, thanks.

The compressor has a water separator. It works well. If you want completely dry, add the Omega inline filter. It removes all moisture from the air.

Bro on cars or anything always put positive on first then ground. Keeps things from sparking, and on cars keeps from knocking out computers. Just saying. I'm sure of this.

The nomad will use 12 volt DC , 110 volt AC , or 220 AC . Most efficient in DC . Wish it was water cooled though . Although it did break down within first six months of use . But was under warranty and they replaced it . Was without a pump for two to three weeks . They paid shipping both ways . Will be buying a different pump for backup in future .
