This is a strong tutorial on safety issues no one talks about. I purchased a slide and experienced slide to frame tolerance issues that caused my build to go full auto. The manufacturer didn't even reply to my email but thanks to your video my build is rocking and rolling. Thanks brother!
Once again I am grateful for your dedication to safety. I was on the verge of scrapping my project in the name of safety but with your help I have corrected the issue.
Bro you save me so much time.. I've been trying to figure this problem out for 2 weeks on my Glock 19 I replaced the whole trigger system replaced rails channel liner and all it was just this little bend I should kick myself in the butt for this but thank you bro I appreciate your knowledge and help keep it up..
It's 2022 and these videos have been a big help in fixing an intermittent reset problem that consisted of the cruciform sear face being too low and improper trigger spring installation. Thanks for the time and effort you put into these! Education makes everybody safer.
you're very good Johnny.. this adjustment have to be done by professional.. and by professional that knows what they're doing .. and by professional that have done that a million of time because there's no reference point in doing this... only your memory and your skill... amazing info Johnny .. do not have one of your trigger but i regret this.. the basic one for idpa i think it will be awesome on my g17..
Other than smoothing out the contact surfaces, I leave my GLOCK stock; and I throw in a 3.5lb connector which usually smooths the trigger out to about 5lbs even. It is more important too keep them drop safe. This setup feels like an old school 38 snub nose revolver without a visible hammer.
My p80 was so far off that I had to heat the cruciform up to get full coverage and safety. Took it to the range for first shots yesterday and it ran great. I do need to remove some of the pre travel and over travel. Will be working on that this week. Thank you for all your video's and for passing your knowledge on to us.
I watched one of your videos where after tuning the trigger you banged it pretty hard a few times to make sure it was drop safe. I just did that with my P80 build and it jumped the striker (had snap caps in it) so I played with it a little and pit it back together and banged it again on my table really hard and it was good. I dropped from about 8 fy into the air onto my hard wood floor and it's good. So glad I saw your video and it made me want ro test it like that to make sure it is safe before I take it to the range. Glad you make these videoa to help people not do stupid shit and maybe kill themselves or someone else.
With your video, I was able to fix a very dangerous sear engagement issue on a 19 with an aftermarket rmr slide. It would fire upon reset during dummy round bench testing, I used your vise technique and marking it and gently “bending” the cruciform, I was able to get a safe amount of engagement. Thank you!
@@vulgarhyena9616 ok cool. I had to bend mine up also and seen alot of people say not to but my engagement wasn't good enough. I just had a fear of it breaking or messing something up. I was only able to put a few mags through and it ran fine! Guess Im just looking for reassurance lol
True that. You really hang it out Johnny. I love that you educate. I always worry though. So many guys throwing likes to driving drywall screws into frames to eliminate pretravel. As a block armorer, I've done enough triggers to understand tolerance stacking. There are products I just won't use. No gun I do is off the shelf, and they all get 100% engagement. I do crazy shit on my own pet gun. That's how I learned. When do we get to see your new trigger shoes?
Very occasionally yes. I'd take a closer look at the engagement on the striker side first. I had a goofy one recently. When I took my calipers and measured the striker face, it was .008 shorter than a new glock striker. It may not sound like much, but it was enough to make me question the slide fit. Thankfully replacing the striker solved the issue without any tedious bending. Hope this helps. 👌🏻
@@jodyfelland2162 Ill check for new strikers. I got a new trigger bar and didn't fix my engagement so I took my old one and bent it just a tad and now it's 100% but everyone I've seen says not to bend them. It fired fine. And passed all safety checks after I fixed the sear. A new striker might fix it I'll have to order a OEM
I had problems with reset and full auto fire that was driving me nuts! After watching this video and bending my trigger cross bar solved the problrm. Thank you!
It's funny how I revisit videos of yours just to keep my head in the game and keep my mind sharp. Funny how ill still have to backtrack sometimes I'll forget a step I learned way back when. Then the light goes off. WWJD what would Johnny Do!?
Definitely has been my problem since I built my first p80. I don't know what it is about the frames and rear rail system. but they always sit way too damn high. Even if you do drill the holes right it seems. I've been able to lower My rear rail some. Engagement is definitely better but still not perfect. Going to try bending the sear. And then hopefully soon get your drop-in system.
If you want better sear engagement try a gen 4 housing (clip the little triangle feet off the bottom of the housing) and/or buy a "Pre EH" Trigger bar. Pre EH bars have a higher bend angle on the sear.
The only problem I've had with my build is the sear engagement. I bent it up to 100 percent and tested everything seems fine. It also fired very well. Should I have anything to be concerned about? I have another OEM bar on stand by. I just want to be safe.
Thank you for this video. I've been chasing my tail for weeks after finishing my p80 it would work with stock connector and springs however a ghost kit would binary fire (to be honest I've been all over yt and Google and just found this out of boredom tonight). Eventually I just sent it with the connector and was able to add all but the firing pin spring. So tonight I went ahead and hacked up a back plate to look inside and I have about 30-40% lockup. Off to fix this. Fwiw you explain me pretty well in the beginning. It is just the nominclature of everything that is slow this down. This is definitely the most fun I've had since my first Lego set as a kid. But I totally agree. 2 weeks ago I wouldn't have thought this would take so much brain power to just work through the mechanics of what is going on. Also this is my first "Glock" so I don't have a base to work off of. I did end up taking to the range with the stock configuration, after the bang smack rack test proved it g2g. It was still a scary (best way to put it) endeavor. No I'm just picking out the little issues as I find them and ingest as much info as I can along the way. Thank you for all you do here!
Would too much of a bend cause the slide from not going all the way forward. On my new build I can slide the slide on but when I rack it and let it return it stops about 3/16 from battery. Doesn't even hit the slide removal bar. If I remove the back plate and release the firing pin, the slide goes forward and can be slid off.
@@johnnyglocks Did this exact thing but after bending I placed it in water and it made a sizzle. I hope it's still fine. Thanks for the video Mr. Johnny, information saves lives.

How are you able to pry down the cruciform if the shoe safety is working properly? Or are you actually bending the sear down and not moving the trigger bar?
Johnny Glock it was my tyrant back plate the whole time I've changed connectors crossforms all kinda shit. Thank you so much for your tip I would of never guessed
Outstanding video! My issue is it appears my striker is only covering 1/3 of the sear, but I have absolute zero trigger/reset issues. All safety checks pass. What should I do? I compared my coverage with my factory G19 and definitely looks like my P80 shows way more sear.

Do it for Johnny man.... Do it for Johnny.... ☝️😂The Outsiders reference.. I didn't have any issues with my seer on my P80.. As far as the light primer strikes, I haven't had anymore issues, I've got over 250 rounds through her.. The light strikes happened during the first two mags..🤷♂️ Break it in baby... lol..
What do you do if you have no engagement. I can rack the slide and trigger will not move if I push the trigger shoe forward manually it will fire just fine then back to a dead trigger
Great video Johnny!! im on my 6th p80 build and all have had some tweaking a minimal tinkering involved to make them safe and work almost flawlessly. I am having what i may believe to be a issue however i wont know until i take it to the range and test it out. The trigger fires and resets every time however when I pull the trigger and keep it pressed then rack the slide again it takes almost zero resistance when i let off the trigger for it to fire again? Hi all/Johnny, I grew up in 'burbs, kinda new to firearms in general, though I've studied for hours on handling and safety. I'm getting into Glock building, etc, and I'm trying to get my mind around how these things are carry safe with one in the chamber - when mere wear can bend your cruciform (moving it out of 'drop safety' spec - and causing potential unintentional rapid-fire, no less!) or wearing down your trigger connector and causing similar issues. Can someone help me to make sense of this? I can somewhat understand a DA/SA like a CZ, Walther, Or Beretta with a proper decocker - but the striker fire ones... I currently have two Glock-pattern weapons and don't carry one in the chamber due an issue with sensitivity in my hands - but after learning more about the weapon I'm having even more hesitation with it. Help?
Im not a gun wiz either but i know that even if the glock sear slips it wont fire a round unless you pulled the trigger, this is because the striker wont have enough energy to set off the primer.
