Not clickbait. Verry well presented topics. Yes wow is toxic. Any mmo or multiplayer game outside of a 10 min Lobby que FPS is not going to be perfect. With everything you get for 15 dollars a month idk how players can complain. With all this content they could easily make you pay for it like a DLC. I would like to challenge everyone to find something they like in the game and be happy and if there is nothing we’ll that’s fine move on.
With respect, this is clickbait. This is easy content to put out about WoW when there’s a lull in WoW. Another meta discussion comparing what we “wanted” vs what we have. Been seeing it for decades. It attracts the complainers out there. I appreciate his suggestions for an appropriate perspective about what SOD is (I disagree that it’s supposed to be Classic+), but this kind of content is so overused. Conclusion is, which is my argument, WoW players are bored and want new content already.
100% clickbait this kid legit has no idea wtf he's talking about with blizzard making "HUGE" changes ... what he means is they in 99.9% of cases these ideas are copy and pasted from other versions of wow. With no new lore or resources or play on the original wow. SOD is just the opposite of classic 2019 where they listen to players and make changes which look what's happened you get retail minus!
This is a video full of complaints, bad opinions, and lack of appreciation for what we have; The stereotypical annoying know-it-all wow player, but the only difference being he has a platform to broadcast it.
Phase I was a blast; it felt like vanilla/classic, all dungeons were relevant, doing high lvl quests to get “bis” was fun, easy to have multiple alt, etc. P2 and P3 has been grinding to get gold to be able to raid
This has never felt like classic at all. Most classes got a rune at level 2 that practically one shot most mobs for almost no mana. Thats the opposite of vanilla. The world in vanilla was dangerous, PvP was enjoyable because damage wasn’t insane, and even dungeons had some challenges. Think about this: vanilla had you CC’ing mobs inside dungeons for safety. Comparing even phase 1 to that is ignoring reality.
I didn't have to grind one bit more in phase 3 than any of the previous phases. There's also more to do than in the previous phases I'd say. Thing is the 25 bracket was more familiar like a 19 twink bracke almost. More interesting than the lvl 50 bracket maybe
@@Layn2321 i agree that getting the runes made it so much easier to lvl. I remember lvling my priest in classic was tough. However, you still had challenges runes and all, like risking your life farming gravemoss in desolace, doing red quests like battle for hillsbrad questline for pre-bis, etc. phase I was fun because you had those fun classic flavored challenges that did not translate into P2 and P3
I agree - phase 1 was fun and dungeons were relevant as you said. After phase 1 no one cared about dungeons for gear and adventure - it feels just like retail now.
yea i played for legit 3 days saw how much ppl boosted their lvls through it and just decided, being sweaty isn't the game for me.. it ain't covid anymore
I kinda disagree with saying Sod is a casual way to play vanilla. There is nothing casual about the way I had to grind crates phase 1, ashenvale/wsg rep and deal with pre-mades.
they should take the old school runescape approach and release a fresh classic server, then poll the community on all major updates so they actually know what their playerbase wants
@@t9t9t9t9t9 There was a creative director who once said that players are 100% of the time right about problems in a game but 100% wrong about how to fix said problems. I think that idea holds very true
Inflation happened for one. They gave out to much free/easy Gold. They made a decent raid and then nerfed it one too many times, With 7 days to clear it. people (my guild included) are clearing it sub one hour 3 lock outs in. They did not account for the degenerate behavior with incursion Ganking. If it was meant for PVP there should of been PVP objectives or put the PVP part of it on a 3 hour timer similar to the other 2 PVP zones and other times make it PVP flagged off. These are really the thing that hurts SOD.
Or they could of just left the gold from the incursions the same. Created two kinds of players on my server. Those who did incursions on phase 3 release and those did not.
@@gregscott7365 the incursions didn’t ruin the economy… players who did incursions for the first 8 hours before gold nerf made out with less the 500g on average. 500g can’t even buy one 15 agility enchant on my server… the economy is bad because we are gate kept at level 50 but can obtain enchants and items that would be 60 BIS. All of the expensive items require groups to go farm for. They should have kept the incursion gold the same which would make items cheaper and easier to obtain…
Incursions on pvp servers with heavily unbalanced factions can literally be unplayable. Servers like lone wolf US has 30-40 alliance per horde character. I'm all for pvp I signed up for it but 10 v 1 on average isn't pvp.
Season 1 was honestly the only season I enjoyed. Everything else in other seasons just got exploited and ruined. AOE farming STV, looping incursions. Game became unfun fast.
100% quit after loving SOD after the absolute fuck up after the launch. Was unable to play and everyone I knew had multiple 50’s and 1000’s of gold over a 3 day period.
Personally, I've had so much fun with SoD. Yes, SoD is flawed, but the number 1 thing that holds players back from having fun is themselves. I run around the world and quest, I full clear dungeons even if I don't need to. I farm my own mats instead of buying them on the AH. And it's been a blast. You don't have to spam incursions until you're burnt out, and you don't have to buy everything off the AH only to complain about the prices. You can play the game. And if you do, it is very fun.
loving SOD so far for the gameplay. However, for me, classic wow was about the world, questing, exploring the different towns and settlements and losing myself in the world. It feels like a huge missed opportunity that we got incursions and new dungeon loot instead of many many new quests and quest hubs in the open world, filling some unused space with new stories and characters. SOD feels more focused on gameplay and gamey mechanics that incentivize min maxing, parsing culture and performance instead of leaning into the elements that made classic so enjoyable. In my mind classic + is hundreds of new quests with new dungeons/raids but the focus being the open world and quests. If blizzard spent this time in SOD creating class balance, new dungeons and raids and getting every class playing well then, next season, took the exact same balance they struck in SOD and made hundreds of new quests and added new 5m dungeons along the way…. That would be lightning in a bottle.
YES!! 10000% At this point SOD is retail - not classic +. It makes me furious people keep liking it even tho blizz will never continue any word/lore building (opening locked timbermaw tunnel in Azshara, etc.)
Completely agree...I love leveling in classic, had a blast when classic launched in 2019 and I remember the hype. I tried to get back into SoD but I just don't like how it feels. It's a shame because the world is what drew me into WoW
It is unreal how SOD vs private serves is no comparison. It’s as if SOD is being developed by 3 people. The runes are not that amazing. They actually suck.
Lol what, people barely gave attention to BC Classic at all - compared to all the hype of Vanilla Classic. Even compared to WotLK classic, BC was shunned aside. It lasted only a year (since prepatch till prepatch) - while Wotlk had almost two years in total. It's literally not enought having only 3 months for whole Sunwell Plateau patch. Did anyone ever saw e.g. ThoriDal dropping at all? Or White Strider from Magister's Terrace? 3 months is 12 raid lockouts. That's what, 24 items total? Maybe a bit more - let's even assume it's 60 items total. 60 items. For a raid of 25 people. It is impossible to fully gear all raid with this timeline. And why would people go to raids if they know that noticeable chunk of the raid will never get their gearups from the Sunwell. Why play it at all, easier to just wait out for WoTLK then. And if half of guild is not raiding - then no one is raiding.
I’m totally with you, it’s been great and I’m loving it. This phase has a lot of content compared to last phase. However, as you said “have fun with your friends” this has been getting harder and harder with my friends all quitting due to 20 man roster boss killing our guild :/
SoD was never Classic +, it was just a new seasonal server to give players a chance to experience Vanilla in a new way. With that said, Blizzard needs to capitalize on this momentum, take what they learned from SoD, and give us C+
Question stands same - What. Is. Classic. Plus? What is "new content" here? Entirely new locations, dungeons, mobs? Or recycled old content but with new numbers? What happens to original version of it? Can I visit Gnomeregan-Dungeon if they added Gnomeregan-Raid? New content is added for max lvl? Or on all levels? What is "changes to classes" here? Adding abilities from new expansions? Or just change numbers on existing ones? Should they do nerfs to classes? Or should they only buff classes? What about faction having different set of classes? What about world buffs - remove them or let people do their tribalism? What about professions? Engineering is the only option still, or we can add active abilities to every other? Or we can nerf all engineering perks? What about battlegrounds? Can arena be added?
SoD is really failing to hold my attention. I wish dungeon gear felt more required, but it's almost completely irrelevant. And Sunken Temple raid gear is barely an upgrade over existing Gnomer gear. I want to have reasons to play the game other than leveling alts or doing PvP, but at this point I'm already raid logging.
seems u like only 50% of game. why the fuck would i want more stuff to do. whole point of wow is to get gear then u start playing game for real its not about getting items
@@josipmarasovic2436 I'm already rank 7 in pvp. I have all the pvp gear. I have all the raid gear. I've done all the Nightmare Incursions and rep grinds. What else is there to do?
@@Benefitsagreed the game has totally went to shit lately, I've unsubbed my two accounts. Only time I was playin was to farm gold for a phase I may not even play especially if everyone is quitting like the majority of my guild.
Well as someone who has done 250 maraudon runs , i beg to differ.. .There is definetly dungeon Gear that is relevant. ZF ended up being COMPLETLY irrelevant... BUT Maraudon is VERY relevant an so is BRD... There are a lot of BIS/pre BIS items there and there is also the offerings. Like there is literally NO way to make dungeons more relevant than they are right now.
“Every player out there doesn’t really care to see nightmare incursions be the main source of leveling up” except they did it, sadly… we can speculate all we want about how the players want a good, fun, long, fulfilling leveling experience… but you know what I saw for the entire first week of phase 3? “(role + class) LFG incursions.” SOOOO much. Wow players are masters of min-maxing the fun out of the game.
No they didn’t. I didn’t and know countless others who didn’t either because it was, like anything else, gated by super sweat lord try hard no lifers. Then if you finally did get accepted into a group everyone was already 45+, unresponsive in chat, running past everything, letting you die to the most insane hyper spawn I’ve ever seen and expect you to know the route first time. Half the pickup quests were bugged and unclickable as well. As far as I can tell a massive portion of those jerk offs that ruined the week one experience for so many of us, don’t even play anymore. I’ve done it now for a couple lvls on 2 toons and thankfully they have an addon now that does the inventory management game for you. Even though the sweat lords are gone and the addon makes it waaay better it is still one of the least enjoyable activities ever put in any version of wow and that has nothing to do with the players.
To some degree, you have to save the players from themselves through your design. The design will shape how players play by what you allow and what you don't. If a player has the choice of questing, dungeon grinding, or turning themselves into a biological bot looping in an incursion, they will choose the degenerate and least fun of those 3 if the exp/hour is like it currently is. You can criticize human nature all you want, but that won't change it in 99% of cases. The designers are god in this case, and they will get what they allow.
I got out as the creative ship was sinking (in my eyes) Logged on the evening of Day 1 on my lock who was full BiS -2 pieces, and logged off in about 3 hours after seeing the shitshow that was happening. Haven't logged on since. People saying they are really enjoying P3 are smoking copium 24/7
The reason I quit wow back in the day was because it got too bursty and less tactical- PvP. It’s 2-3 second burndowns and not fun for me. I’m out again.
imo SoD was never great.. Phase 1 grinding crates 1 at a time, grinding ashenvale and wsg rep... No way to have enjoyable pvp experiences or even pve outside of the 40min raid.. Yea so great.
@@Huckle777 no1 told u need to farm ashe im still not exalted at all and im lvl 50 hahahaha. u dont need to do it most of people have mentality that u need to do it why???? hahahaha
@@josipmarasovic2436 You mean, why do people min/max in an mmorpg? Some people might be okay with under performing like you, but part of the 'fun' of rpg's to me is min/maxing. I parsed 99's so obviously I needed to do those things to get the best gear available.
Naturally people will do the most optimised thing in order to get into end game... this is not news. The difference is that in P1, you were in durotar, you're done with durotar, you are now lvl 11-12. Now you are in the barrens... you quest a couple of hours in the barrens and now you're already farming Pre-bis or even BIS items in WC and SFK. you had like 2 + 4 areas that you could realistically bother with or something? P1 - Season of 10 alts P2 - season of 5 alts P3 - season of 2 alts Seems to me that the longer SOD goes, the more people are invested into 1 main rather than just spamming BFD with 10 chars.
@@akhsdenlew1861 The issue is the game designers KNOW how players optimize but still intentionally released incursions knowing it would trivialize all other methods of exp and gold making. The gearing before required you do stuff all over the world pre 60 in order to get bis but the new items are straight up better than lvl 60 blues now and give players zero incentive to actually quest normally or even bother running most dungeons because the raid gear is so much better.
Lmao agreed, this literally was just a shill for Private Servers Used to be a Private Server fan until you realize most of them are doxxed or shut down and you lose everything, not to mention overrun by Chinese and unstable servers
Stopped playing in this phase 3. It’s so rushed at this point, it’s obvious they aren’t playing their own game. Had they done 1 incursion they would have seen that you get 5g per quest and level like crazy. Basically waiting for Classic +, even if it doesn’t ever come out.
I speculate phase 1 felt like the best because the blizzard team working on it probably had a lot more time put into the creation of the content. They probably didn't have any ideas for how they wanted phase 2 or phase 3 to look like at the release of P1 so they simply did not have enough time to play with for developing those new phases and stuff just got kind of rushed from that point forward
I think most people are just annoyed it's.. not classic+! The seasonal aspect has its own limits. Classic + should be wow 2.0. Imo it should be its own game where the narrative slips back towards warcraft 1-2. Meaning no horde, and a shattered alliance.. more independent factions. Quest for venture co, or the Twilight council. Capture and hold pvp objectives like epl, but on a grander scale, 10+ factions fighting over each node. New instances, visual updates, and a balanced playstyle.
I look at it this way. Imagine you go to a to a dinner and order a sandwich. They give you a Cheese Burger. Everyone loves this and asks for "More of the Same" Plz. This is the essence of a Classic+ Request. It is a "We like this. More of the Same Plz". Now imagine a Blizzard that comes back with a Grilled Cheese Sandwich vs a Blizzard that comes back with a Double Cheese Burger or a Baconator. You are going to get different responses. SoD = Closer to the Grilled Cheese approach, where they are actively removing elements of the burger will all liked. Leveling difficulty comes to mind. The Private Server example you gave is closer to the Double Cheese Burger approach... giving you more of what you liked and taking nothing away. The great TRICK to improving upon an MMORPG like Classic WoW is to 1. Refuse to take anything anyone likes away. 2. Make changes people want in ways that do not harm or effect other elements of the game. AKA to be "Smarter then the Problem". For example: Problem: Boomkin and Ret Paladin suffer in Classic Raiding. Solution: Buff their abilities while in instant content but keep them the same otherwise. This avoids PvP issues, open world issues, leveling issues and soon. Problem: Leveling takes to long and I only have 2 hours a day to play. Solution: GREATLY increase the speed of rested XP for 1 character per account, per day to something silly 2 levels of rested XP in 20 hours or Rest time. This would effectively DOUBLE leveling speed for AFKers. But does very little for more serious players. And even at at x2 pace, classic WoW leveling is still a journey to say the least. In short: Changes are fine. But do your BEST to keep the Cheese Burger a Cheese Burger. And be smarter then the problem. IF you are game designing for Classic WoW... the phrase "you know what would be fun?" should NOT be part of your vocabulary. You are in essence a CHEF in a KITCHEN who has just received an order for "More of the Same Plz". Your Reaction should be "What did they like about what I just did and how can I give them more of it" not "you know what would be fun?" because that's how my cheese burger turns into a shrimp salad.
Yo try leveling an alt now that incursions are “fixed”. Not only do you get less xp per quest, you also have to deal with getting oneshot by groups of 50s camping there since blood moon honor was nerfed, this is now the best way to farm honor.
SOD Started really good! Then it turned into how could they make WoW Classic play like later versions of WoW. I expected new dungeons or different leveling content. P1 was great! P2 was meh. P3 got ruined by incursions and I'm not too hopeful P4 will be worth the time investment. Just my opinion as a 38 year old family guy with 2-4 hours to play every other day.
Amazing time last night discussing these things man. I really want the best for SOD and just hope in the end we can say it was all worth it. I truly think SOD has so much potential and we only need to keep vocalizing our issues with there team so they know were the community is coming from. Much luv y'all and lock it in as always 🔒
When I started trying to level up in phase 3, I noticed that open world questing was.. much more empty. Yeah phase 1 and 2 had a lot of people standing around waiting on things to spawn which was a problem itself (and has solutions like allowing all people that tag a named mob to get kill credit, don't know why they seem so against going back and implementing that), but to go from "there's so many people here" to "where the hell is everyone?" in phase 3 was a real shock. Then I figured out they're all in incursions. I go there to check it out and found that yeah, you'd be dumb to not be leveling in incursions because you just get so much more xp and gold for it, but it's just doing the same set of quests over and over and over and over and over again. I realized that.. this wasn't what I was looking for. I do not like the idea of a WoW where the defacto way to level and grind gold is to repeatedly spam the same small set of fetch/kill/escort quests, just didn't feel right. And yeah, I know the rest of the game is fetch/kill/escort quests, but they go along with a story that progresses as you do them and there's a sense of completion when you get to the end of that story in that area and move on to the next. Incursions is missing that, felt like running in a circle just for the sake of running in a circle.
It started going downhill when the cool new ability runes stopped.im a real casual gamer and I've even maxed leveled all my characters all I've been doing for days is farming gold. No excitement in the last phases what so ever
I’m a super casual and I had fun playing SOD , but ultimately questing and leveling is a very daunting experience for me and I can’t see myself coming back unless they overhaul; or upgrade the actual quest/ story in the game. It’s very easy to get “lost” while questing and you end up to a point where none of the story makes sense and you’re just doing mundane things for experience.
Honestly, my fix for incursions is to make the quests bigger, reward like 40% of a level, but have most the objectives in one per area. Example: the dragon area in ashenvale: go get a report from the scout > go back out side to turn in the report (normal quest exp reward)> go back to area and do kill/collect objectives in one quest > go back and turn in (25% of a level)> wait a day > get a new report from the scout > go back > get item to summon the boss > kill boss > boss drops a bonus quest item for all who participate (15% of a level)> turn in (20% of a level)> wait a day > repeat.
Season of discovery is magical. A juggernaut of a developer getting weird and giving a team total control to come up with this science experiment. Gives me real hope. No micro transactions and a totally new experience with tons of bugs and nonsense lol I freaking love it! It feels human. It feels right
@@Phazed43 nah I'm just not a depressed idiot lol, it should've been called season of madness but we knew it was a crazy experiment that was going to be insane
unfortunately sod doesnt feel casual at all, with 99% of players pick and choosing only the best people to run sunken temple with. Its nearly impossible to raid if you dont have a guild which i think is pretty awful.
I’ve been pugging st… it’s really not that hard to do and is much closer to casual and than to anything hardcore. The main issue is length of the raid rather than the difficulty. This game has always been designed around playing with a guild that doesn’t meant you can’t play it casually
I came to SoD because it looked like a game for casuals. All the players are sweats. Everyone is focused on logs and most efficient raid comp. I just don't have the time to sweat online anymore. Vanilla classic was magical for me, but as usual, the players hurt the game. WoW really needs to create a better UI and ban add-ons
Agreed. I don't know why people are so angry all the time. We are extremely blessed to be still getting anything from this game. I love SOD and everything they are doing in the WoW universe. I hope they continue on this path. The nightmare incursion thing was tricky because a massive amount of people cried for an alternative to dungeon spamming and also about gold sinks, so they fixed that with those but then everyone complained it was too easy, because as gamers we always find a way to min max and exploit, so there really is no way to win in any of this. Just enjoy the ride folks.
I joined P3 a week later and man the contrast to P2 is crazy. Playing in Chaos Bolt EU (Medium) and barely any groups forming outside peak hours. The exp increase (that btw a lot of players “wanted”) made everyone go super fast and get done with the characters too quickly. 20 man is also done a lot of damage reducing the opportunities for raiding (once a week) and making small guilds recruit too much and loose a bit of the core experience.
SOD doesn’t feel casual. 20m raids, loot management, messed up economy, tons of mechanics. I can’t play with many of my friends because the skill floor is rising. Leveling is being negated. It’s just retail now. No more gdkp to pickup a pug raid. At least 5m loot is getting some love
There is a reason people play classic, and blizzard has totally overlooked that. This is season of early access. They don't know what they are doing. They made the old content that we enjoy playing completely useless. "Upgrading professions" = adding one OP epic in each one wow so exciting >.> They put up barriers so we can't discover how far we can push into dungeons. Can't get in BRS until im lvl 45 even though im lvl 50. Holding back content saving it for the next phase is a joke. lvling from 40-50 in a few hours, all dungeons are completely useless, making us grind 1 boss in a dungeon. No point in doing any content from past phases because you can get to 50 in a week. Grind new incursion garbage content or one boss in a dungeon 30 times. The world pvp being better with the horde/alliance balancing attempt is the only thing they did right. They ruin the past phase with every new phase. They clearly are not listening to content creators with popular opinions, whoever thought of the incursion event needs to be executed. The player base is pissed because we keep getting hooked. Im playing until july when my subscription expires. Killing gnomes until then.
I didn’t start incursions until day two and I have to say as someone who works a ton being lvl 50 and having a bit of g in the bank for consumables has been so nice this phase. Guild was ready to tackle raid week one this phase and we had a blast. I get the complaints and it probably shouldn’t be as easy as it was but streamlining the leveling after many hours of us have done the 1-60 several times was really nice.
I wish they would just make a separate PVP version of wow with limited PVE content and vise versa. PVE could be a lot more interesting if they weren't constantly trying to balance abilities around PVP content. Players like feeling OP. Give us some OP toys to play with in PVE and not worry about how it could impact PVP content. Also, it was never a good feeling seeing hybrid classes do more damage than me while also bringing more utility. If your class brings utility, you shouldn't be out dpsing classes that only bring dps. That's not to say that hybrid classes should be leagues behind the pure dps classes, but they shouldn't be above them. I think it's fine having tanks and healers fill specific rolls but I do see how it could be frustrating in some instances. Warrior tanks typically filled the roll as MT in raids but they would cry at the pally tank that could hold threat on 20mobs. Holy pallies were the best single target healer where druids/Hpriest typically weren't as strong at it but could raid heal better than the pally could. I think it's more interesting having specific roles in a raid but it also comes with the downside of "needing" a specific class/role to complete the raid. I'm kinda open to every tank can do all of the tanking things and all healers can be good at all the healing things just so that the game can run more smooth, but I also think that takes away from the class identity. /shrug SOD is fun if you go into it knowing it is a melting pot of ideas. Better to have ideas tested in SOD before making a real classic+ so that they can make classic+ the best version of what it can be. People need to be more flexible with SOD. It's just a huge testing grounds that we get to be a part of. Which I think is pretty cool.
As one of those people that enjoy playing multiple characters. I really wish they would make some of the reputations account bound. Because most of us don't have the time to grind it out on 3-5 toons.
In my opinion here is what I think of WoW SOD at the moment: 1. Blood Moon - Although I'm now not a big fan of this event, I did at first enjoy the thought of this. Died way too much and staying with groups can be challenging after someone dies. 2. Incursions - Not a huge fan since we have dungeons and quests already. Why not just add these rewards to running current dungeons? Too much forced PvE content. 3. Wild Offerings - Would have liked this more if they included the Incursion rewards in this too and just removed Incursions. 4. Instance Running - Enjoying this a lot. Much better to play these in a Guild. 5. Warsong Gulch - They need to have a "Solo" que! When running these "Solo" prepare to lose to many, many "Pre-Made" groups. 6. Rune Hunting - Enjoyed obtaining most of my runes, but some runes take way too much time and make it feel very tedious, especially if running multiple characters. 7. Professions - I do like professions. I do enjoy leveling them up and earning more out of them as they progress. 8. Waylaid Supplies - These are a great addition. Not only do players usually benefit from lots of gold, but players also will eventually unlock rewards that can benefit both main character and alt characters. 9. Reputation Farming - Can be fun depending on what reputation farm I'm going for. Seems almost pointless to farm all reputations, but I enjoy farming these for gear, especially with bonus weekly/daily rep bonus rewards. 10. Looking for Group Auto Fill- I really wish they had a "Looking for Group Auto Fill" option. They could add this for PvP, Dungeons, Instances, etc. Auto fill groups with a Looking for Group auto fill option. 11. BIS Gear Farming - I enjoy obtaining my BIS Gear from the many different "to dos" in the game. I enjoy both PvP and PvE and rewards for BIS items usually involve doing everything that the game has to offer. Yes I don't always enjoy everything on the "to dos", but for the most part I enjoy variety and I think it's great that I need to do many different things to get my Max BIS Character.
Playing with 4 RL friends and we're having a blast on SOD -- 2 new players in our group and they are now addicted to WoW for the first time in their lives. Here's to hoping it stays alive for a while so we don't have to roll back to level 1 again I feel like that would make my friends quit
I've come to learn that the forums/reddit are just toxic places. You hop on and get in-game, people are loving the game. They aren't running to reddit and crying about x, y & z. I've been here since 04' and I am LOVING everything they are doing for the game right now. I'm enjoying Retail, Wrath Classic & SOD. I'm glad they have so many different versions of the game for us to enjoy. Looking forward to level 60 on SoD, MoP Remix, Cata Classic & TWW. Great time to be a WoW enjoyer! :D
Phase 1 brought all meme specs to life, which was basically what classic needed. Ph 2 and 3 have retailified classic which is not what is needed. After fixing existing specs, runes should have made new specs, holy pally dps, holy priest dps etc. Now we are just getting OP
I don't think SOD is what people had in mind when they bring up the term "Classic Plus" because there's so many class changes and dreaded quality of life improvements that it changes the feel of the game. I'm enjoying it though and I'm honestly more glad they're taking some risks and actually doing something interesting with it instead of just releasing classic again because I wouldn't care enough to even play it again.
Very well said, I too think the Devs have been doing a great job but I think a lot of people would agree that the lack of GM support when people encounter issues has been terrible especially given SoDs test by play existence. Automated AI responses are a clear indicator of a company that holds profit over player satisfaction. The game could be so much more but it is still the same blizzard.
SOD has been a breath of fresh air, classic era reboot was amazing, got bored by WOTLK, when back to classic era but then it started to get stale. Sod has been great and im definitely going to continue playing
Season of Discovery should emphasis the discovery bit for me. I'd really like for them to find interesting repeatable mechanics for each class to engage a world we're familiar with in a new way. The first 20 levels of this experience is already exactly what I wanted. But it feels like they got lazy and dropped the ball. I feel like I'm being hit over the head with a stick for doing anything other than googling the answers and mindlessly grinding everything until I can do what sims tell me to do or just accepting I'm useless. Like literally every other version of wow, basically.
People forgot that the 'No Changes' movement had it's merit. Chronoboon can stay, begrudgingly. The actual classic game was ridiculous, genius and perfect.
yea.. a game where 50% of the specs are a meme and warrior is the only Good dps and the ONLY tank. Great game.. yea.. maybe for 2004, not now. Having SOOO many specs being unplayble or going oom after 5 skills is completly unacceptable.
My biggest disappointment is how poorly they handled the discovery of the runes. They made them so absurdly hidden that no one would ever enjoy trying to discover them without a guide. The discovery would have been so much fun if they made it more sensible with clues/quests to guide us along.
I remember when Vanilla+ which is now Classic+ Idea was stay in vanilla and add some new content zones, classes and spells. But remain on the vanilla framework and final patch of vanilla. The thing is private servers have been doing this since BC launched. Blizzard destroyed a ton of private servers rightfully….still sucked..but we now have season of discovery. This their take on Vanilla + and it’s actually great. But not what we expected.
As someone who plays hunter and paladin. I love divine storm and seal of martyrdom and explosive shot, but giving us a flat 18% increased crit to holy spells, or hunter's heart of the lion as a whole is stupid. I and I'm sure many more never wanted classes to just deal more damage, we just wanted quality of life like removing hunter's dead zone. Warlocks' soul shards being stackable. Or at least that was what I was expecting from SoD. Also, Having runes be obtained by far out places in places who fucking cares where no one typically goes to. I wanted some new or fill in the gaps lore with runes that you'd get while questing. Like obtained from quest givers or dropped from bosses that you need to kill while on the dungeon quest. For example, hunters get their runes from Houndmaster Lowksey, Warlocks get their runes from kelris, Warriors get their runes from armory, and paladins get their runes from mograine. In classic, getting your first blue is so awesome, and wanted getting a rune to feel the same, but that isn't the way it is for me. It just feels tedious and boring. Also, opening areas like hyjal was something a lot of people talked about for this SoD before it even came out. How asmongold talked about Hyjal, a BRD Raid, and SM Raid. I don't know, I think im just ranting at this point lol. Overall, I think Blizzard just dropped the ball. Atleast this is seasonal so the devs can learn and give us an actually good classic+ imo. I would love to hear someone else's differing opinions to this.
I think sod has been great, sure some issues. The developers even said themself that sod is experimental and they wanted to see what stuck. I think ppl are complaining way too much and dont credit the developers for trying something radical. The ppl that expected classic+ from sod was all in their head
Why don't they just add heroic versions of classic dungeons and use alt currency/rep to purchase cosmetics/pets/mounts? MMO players love looking stylish.
Its sad becasue havent they lost a bunch of season devs? I would like to see the same dev team for P1 in charge of everything for lvl 60+ phases Its liek Blizzard put their A team on teh job from day 1 when the real meat of the game comes later.
I'm enjoying classic+ private servers immensely. Turtle WoW is currently #1 and has done a phenomenal job at creating blizz-like custom zones, raids, class tuning and other content features. Currently anticipating the Project Epoch server, as it look very promising (dwarf shamans and undead paladins etc). SoD had a really amazing first phase, but it got boring quickly after reaching level cap and coming to the same conclusion as the title of this video. SoD is definitely NOT classic+, and as you said, just casual way of enjoying classic WoW without feeling rushed or pressured to hit max level.
people saying incursions ruined P3 but not realizing that without some way to level alts up, P3 would have been DoA to alot of casuals that didnt want to level up a main then have to re-run that on their other alts
Take note from project Epoch SoD team - Each Rank of Disengage has been upgraded to alongside the threat reduction, cause the Hunter to leap back with increasing strength and an increased range to 15 yards.
Trying to make every class equal and balanced is the worst thing you can do, that's how we got retail, the imperfections and unbalance of the OG vanilla/classic is what made it fun.
Blizzard just keeps dropping the ball it's a company that's more worried about people being scared of spiders instead of bettering their game. They basically just let pvp die straight out. Yes they have alot of work going on but that's their fault they are dipping their hands in multiple cookie jars. Them asking us what we want is a joke we have been telling them for 10 years plus lol
Level 48-50 is still crazy fast in the 50 Incursions. I just recently did it on my Hunter solo with doing a lot of the kill quests to try to level with my pets and still out leveled them considerably faster.
I'm sure there is a niche crowd out there excited for Cataclysm but it feels like a pretty big oversite to take members from a team creating something new and amazing to... work on Retail lite? They have Microsoft backing them, why not pitch a permanent "Classic" (Everything after Wrath is half-baked Retail Fight me) Team. You only have one chance to create something new, why not make it the best possible version? Love, love, LOVE SoD and I would like to see it get the resources it deserves! That said, they are doing a pretty amazing job. There's honestly a few things I wish they would carry over to retail; tanking specs for some of the classes that should have had them all along, profession quests to unlock multiple specializations (Engineering) and last but certainly not least, the response time on fixing in game issues LoL! Keep killin it guys, S Tier content as always!! 🔥
IMO classic plus to me is like Turtle Wow. Balance the classes more, add new quests and quest hubs to the world for leveling, add new dungeons as well for lower levels and max levels. Give us more quality of life things...having to wait an hour for mail between my own characters in SoD? Cmon. Release things that were scrapped due to time constraints back in the day...flesh out the game to what it was supposed to be.
SoD isn't Classic+ sorry to burst everyones bubble... it's the Beta of what Classic+ could be, that's why we need to push this so we can get that Classic+ perma server like Era, HC, etc...
Wow that project epoch is crazy to see and very eye opening. Wonder what their budget is. Crazy that a multi-billion dollar company (blizzard) can’t do anything like this. Old school RuneScape is such a great example; the devs polls the community “should we put X in?” But they added brand new zones and content (Zeah & Varlamore recently) and its additions to the game. Doesn’t change anything and fits in so well. Truely embarrassing for blizzard that they put such a small amount of developers on these new projects and they’re so buggy, poorly designed and awful balancing, meanwhile a private server is doing a way more impressive job.
Nobody ever said its classic+...it's literally a season server for blizz to experiment with ideas that they'll include in classic+...if we ever get there
I just want different servers that represent different era's of WoW. Classic Vanilla, BC, Wrath, Cata, Pandaland, etc. Even a Classic + server would be amazing. I know they want to make the releases something special, but really we've already been there. I want to go back and relive the opening of Pandara or experience the reopening of the Dark Portal to see the start of Warlords, or play through the start and mid game of Legion.
Phrase 3 has been fun. People who are just raid logging will not have gold for p4 when gear and enchants, etc really matter (the real end game). Hate them or like them, incursions is a great way to level and always max level gold farming! I am smashing incursions this phrase to farm that gold.
Playing sod = paying blizz for the privilege of being a beta tester. Unfortunately, the lack of any internal testing just ruined P3 from the start. I hope you're right about Classic+
I don't care what blizz does with retail wow. I have classic era. I don't care what blizz does with Diablo 4. I have Diablo 2 resurrected. I don't care what blizz does with the new version of my childhood game as long as I still have a preserved version to fall back on. Sod is a new version of my childhood game that still feels like the old game while improving on it, making me like it more than classic era and that makes me care about it.
I was thinking they should make a rune for hunters that makes it so when you haven’t done a melee attack in a while you stack up extra dmg on your next melee attack to bring back the melee weaving play style
5 man's and dungeons should be more of a focus then a new raid in which stems all the economy, looting, raid logging problems. I would much rather be able to go through dungeons or good 5 man content / quests with my core group instead of needing to rely on wandering the pug wastelands. Have the raids sure, but don't scale the game around a massive wpvp event and a raid. Remember the little things and the intimate ones. Raiding with a guild is fantastic, yes. But servers swarming with pugs and maxing out in a raid isn't the full essence of classic. The new quests were great, getting us out in the world has been handled well. The zones in which they are doing things has been what we wanted to see. But I agree this is a test for Blizzard to figure out how to conjure the formula again. My idea is aim smaller. Good quests and world content to grind so wpvp happens naturally and make 5 man dungeons more the thing to do with your friends, beef them up. Also the slow tuning on pvp is why my whole crew left.
I get that it’s supposed to a beta test in a way but how are they really learning or iterating? I had to look up the release of p1 the other day bc I was wondering how we still have obsolete, unchanged runes from p1.
They’re not lol. They just don’t have any incentive to make the game more enjoyable. Their directive from leadership is to basically put in minimal effort to keep a decent amount of players still playing the season. Their is some threshold where they will make changes when they get concerned about population drop like increasing 25-40xp because of how many people were quitting. Sod has been a major win for the classic team and financially successful.
It still only takes a day off from work to level 40-50 and end up with about 250g after purchasing an emerald set (or two depending on your dual spec desires). Emerald sets that are only ever so slightly worse than the pvp rank 5-7 set and require no pvping what so ever and are also better than 90% of what you can get or already had. I missed out on the silliness the first day because I was getting lvl43 on my hunter to tame Bangalash. But even still all 8 of the characters got to 50, have dual spec and are on their final bank slots having only had the first two or three prior to it.
Hey Sky I felt this video format to be cool and refreshing. I do feel that your positivity towards the state of wow clashes with my own view of it and it actually balances my vision to be something more healthy and compassionate, and thats cool for me! I was watching your video now and beeing completely blown away by the images of the private server you showed. I couldn't help but to feel jealous of it, in comparison content given to us feels lackluster to me. I do understand that SoD may be a testing ground for a classic plus potential future, I do also understand that the team focus shifts between different iterations of wow and that results in less resources available for SoD. And still, even with all my understanding towards all these things, I feel that the content is poor and doesn't offer enough in quality. I think more resources should be funneled towards SoD if it truly works. I hope that it can be shown in the 60's bracket because I haven't felt it in the 50's and I really love WoW
I have loved Sod so far. the only thing that bothers me is the free character transfer off of the pvp realms its made the two pvp realms which were 2nd and 3rd highest pop to medium pop servers and the realms just feel pretty dead half of the groups and auctions forming
10:14 yea why does the SoD people need to work on cathaclism classic? Put other people on it why take apart the golden goose? Sounds like a self made problem to me , that they dont have anymore enuph people for SoD.
I quit season of discovery on Dec 15th 2023 and I am so glad I didn't come back, very good points, I tried to tell people do not expect all golden glory from blizzard updating this game, people are on huge copium
I feel like SoD, is the framework for Classic plus, their testing new skills with classic environment. Balancing things NOW, instead of when classic plus does get released.
I am probably a minority here. For me I just want the older Classic gameplay/combat style but with a few more of todays modern QoL features and new quests/content etc. More zones/lore. Basically what private servers are doing and that Epoch one you mentioned looks fantastic! Blizz would never do that much work though and they don't have to as we will mostly accept sub par and be excited for it because we love this universe haha
10000% click bait
This is a video full of complaints, bad opinions, and lack of appreciation for what we have; The stereotypical annoying know-it-all wow player, but the only difference being he has a platform to broadcast it.
100% clickbait
P1 was the best imo. The discovery aspect actually felt alive with somethings not being fully discovered for at least a week.
Phase I was a blast; it felt like vanilla/classic, all dungeons were relevant, doing high lvl quests to get “bis” was fun, easy to have multiple alt, etc. P2 and P3 has been grinding to get gold to be able to raid
That's what I've been saying! Preach!
Incursions just straight ruined phase 3 imo
Expect it for the final one too as it's already set up for the level 50-60 bracket. Unless they drastically change it anyways.
yea i played for legit 3 days saw how much ppl boosted their lvls through it and just decided, being sweaty isn't the game for me.. it ain't covid anymore
@@Pixelkiplmao it ain’t Covid anymore…. True statement

I kinda disagree with saying Sod is a casual way to play vanilla. There is nothing casual about the way I had to grind crates phase 1, ashenvale/wsg rep and deal with pre-mades.
“Had to” 😂 someone hold you at gun point! Seems like you wanted something so you farmed for it. No one forced you into anything

Yeah there has been nothing casual about P3 for sure it’ll feels more like a race than anything
they should take the old school runescape approach and release a fresh classic server, then poll the community on all major updates so they actually know what their playerbase wants
Blizzard is way too incompetent at this stage to make any good decision. SoD is as close to that idea we will ever get.
I've got two kids. When l ask what they want for dinner l get two different answers. Imagine asking millions of people 😉
Listening to the players(especially the loud ones) results in retail.
@@SimonRobeyns If they fire every diversity hire and hire actual devs who know how to actually program they might be able to do the bare minimum
Economy is ruined on my server, everything is so overpriced 😊
PvP server is cancer. If people didn’t expect ganking there they are delusional
If I were to play shaman, I wouldn't understand either why other people hate the game...

100% this. SOD just feels too much like retail now. For this, Im out.
They actually suck.
right look at Project Epoch at the new deadmine. it‘s amazing - so much love
Exactly. I can’t say anything but SOD has been a pathetic attempt at classic+. The game sucks. And I login and servers show it
So many people are asking for TBC era now
Yeaaaa 👍🏼
I would love it but pls no incursions! Lol
@@Sornemus I didn’t get the bow but someone in my guild had it. But yes, more people want it to come back than most realize
tbc was peak wow

This
No they didn’t.

The difference is that in P1, you were in durotar, you're done with durotar, you are now lvl 11-12.

The great TRICK to improving upon an MMORPG like Classic WoW is to
1. Refuse to take anything anyone likes away.
2. Make changes people want in ways that do not harm or effect other elements of the game.
AKA to be "Smarter then the Problem".
For example:
Problem: Boomkin and Ret Paladin suffer in Classic Raiding.
Didn't they make it so you can't get hks in them?
wpvp in incursions is def not the best way to farm honor lmao
SOD Started really good! Then it turned into how could they make WoW Classic play like later versions of WoW. I expected new dungeons or different leveling content. P1 was great! P2 was meh. P3 got ruined by incursions and I'm not too hopeful P4 will be worth the time investment. Just my opinion as a 38 year old family guy with 2-4 hours to play every other day.
It's simple. They made the runes do too much damage.
Yes, they tried to fix everything with runes and its dumb.
should have been max 6 total runes and target speficif stuff
Is a lot of people in the room with us now?
Amazing time last night discussing these things man. I really want the best for SOD and just hope in the end we can say it was all worth it.
I truly think SOD has so much potential and we only need to keep vocalizing our issues with there team so they know were the community is coming from.
Much luv y'all and lock it in as always 🔒
jtello your SOD content is my favorite by far. although i am bias bc am a ret pally on living flame. Knight Lieutenant Goontime. For the light.
Because mass mob tagging is "not classic" - it was implemented in Cataclysm. So it is a heresy, according to classic andys.
Sod getting worse with each phase
and dead by each phase, this is my 4th guild lol, ive been in 3 guilds 30-40people all quit the game
@@grandecc2567 my guild getting bigger and biger , alot of people on server so ..... imo SoD doing great
@@grandecc2567 having exactly the opposite experience... i was in a small guild and now it's madness.. lol
It started going downhill when the cool new ability runes stopped.im a real casual gamer and I've even maxed leveled all my characters all I've been doing for days is farming gold. No excitement in the last phases what so ever
Hmmm that doesn't sound very casual lol ... Maxed more than 1 character??
More than 1 character is not casual, it's the polar opposite
I meant levels not gear. A few hours in incursions from 40 not that hard
Example:
the dragon area in ashenvale: go get a report from the scout > go back out side to turn in the report (normal quest exp reward)> go back to area and do kill/collect objectives in one quest > go back and turn in (25% of a level)> wait a day > get a new report from the scout > go back > get item to summon the boss > kill boss > boss drops a bonus quest item for all who participate (15% of a level)> turn in (20% of a level)> wait a day > repeat.
easy fix blizzard should just use a polling system and let the playbase vote on what changes they want to sod.
Clickbait!! but I agree. I don’t play anymore and wait for a real permanent Classic Plus someday.
Season of discovery is magical. A juggernaut of a developer getting weird and giving a team total control to come up with this science experiment. Gives me real hope. No micro transactions and a totally new experience with tons of bugs and nonsense lol I freaking love it! It feels human. It feels right
Your undying love and support proves you drank the koolaid.
@jfjf-yn6wj my guild still at 6/8... not for casuals
@@jfjf-yn6wj it is that hard and its getting unbearable. At this point im considering to quit this game until they remove logs
@@taloffy have you even done it? post nerfs its so damn easy and takes an hour and a half to clear.
/shrug
SOD is fun if you go into it knowing it is a melting pot of ideas.
I see the pattern of release and I got bored. Who cares about a raid before 60 I just wanted to pvp and have fun but even that is busted
In my opinion here is what I think of WoW SOD at the moment:
It's called survivorship bias. Those of us who dislike the game just aren't playing anymore.
Its was very noticeable when the team got split tasked with Cata and SOD. We have been neglected ever since sadly.

Is SoD what I think would be a Classic+?
Were you ever in a BG in SoD?
Blizzard will never give us true Classic+. Reject SoD. Embrace TurtleWoW

I have loved Sod so far. the only thing that bothers me is the free character transfer off of the pvp realms its made the two pvp realms which were 2nd and 3rd highest pop to medium pop servers and the realms just feel pretty dead
half of the groups and auctions forming
all things can improve. even private servers. art is in the eye of the beholder. one person loves a thing and another hates it
Remember when i left that comment saying p2 was the retail conditioning phase and you called me out? Where are we still sitting on that stance?
I think Season of discovery is basically gonna be used as a funnel to get players back to retail.
Incursions shouldn’t have been allowed to be the main xp earning path. I’m having trouble finding 5 man groups for SM which is a huge change.
I stopped playing at the end of phase 2. But i found an amazing friend through the season. So i have to thank Blizz for that.
These poor devs wow players complain so much
