Hey guys! You may have noticed this video is a touch more edited than my regular videos. I’m just trying something new to try and get around copyright. :)
@@AlmightyCRJ I have tried that before with other shows and the visual is still claimed. Both the audio and visual were claimed on my last Red Dwarf Reaction.
Maybe try a watermark as well? rather than lower the volume too much. Hopefully that might help a bit. It's nice to see you reacting to the show, I enjoy your reaction... The gallifrey gals are ok-ish, but their volume levels are just annoying. They scream too loud and they might as well turn the audio off completley tbh. whatever though, I'll continue watching.
He wouldn't know "there is that much hair on his head", because he's a projection without substance, it's logical to assume as a projection there is no mass.
@@vidiveniviciDCLXVI Even easier. The image you present on a wall has no mass, a much easier concept. The image isn't in the wall it's simply a projection. There is no need to pull quantum physical or advanced mathematics into this...
To answer why Rimmer is running: the Rimmer hologram has been programmed with Rimmer’s personality. Rimmer was an arsehole so the hologram version will be an arsehole.
Oh dear, Megan has fallen down this rabbit hole. Nope. No way back. She will be hooked. Red Dwarf just gets better and better. By the time you get to Series 10 you will be a real dwarfer.
I remember when the BBC did a tribute evening a surprise was that Sir Patrick Stewart of X-Men and Star Trek fame us a Dwarfer, he was in a hotel and switched the TV on from what I can recall and came across an episode the series, initially he was irritated and wanted to contact his lawyer to start proceedings against the show thinking it was a rip-off of Star Trek TNG, however, he quickly realised that that this was a parody and was hilarious. 😂😂
Dwarfers often seem to prefer these early episodes to the later ones. Possibly because the sci-fi aspects are there really to create comic situations for the characters, while later on they become a central part of the storytelling in their own right. But in this early form it stands comparisons with other, largely male, British sitcoms about two or more characters trapped in each other's company. One of the nearest may be 'Whatever happened to the Likely Lads?' (another vintage comedy two-hander from the writers of 'Porridge' - which this has 'future echoes' of too). This is a rather good one though, as Grant & Naylor immediately get to play in the toybox of cause and effect.
In 1992 two pilots were made for Red Dwarf USA. They never got shown. If you see the clips, you'll know why :-) Lister is hardly slobby, more a Hollywood lead type, which doesn't work. Robert Llewellyn, who plays Kryten in the UK version from Series 3 onwards, appeared in it. In the 2nd pilot the cat is Terry Farrell from Star Trek Deep Space 9, with big hair.
It's important for holograms to keep doing the things they did in life so they don't go nuts... I think? It's been a few decades, I'm no longer sure. But he's a hologram, he has no mass; so no, he wouldn't feel that much hair. He can only see it or touch it. That said, continuity isn't the show's biggest concern, and physics can take a back seat for the sake of a joke, so.
Meeting Chris Barrie at a convention in March, he’s going to be signing my Two Ronnies artwork. He is a fabulous impressionist, and is now Ronnie Corbett in spirit, sounds just like him. Thank you for doing Red Dwarf 😊
I agree as a human you’d know if that much hair is on your head but as Rimmer is just a computer simulation he wouldn’t have any feeling or sense of touch so he wouldn’t be aware of it.
Red Dwarf is great fun for 6-7 series. There is so much comedy/stupidity involved, but there is also a huge amount of genuine science. The two writers used actual scientific theory ( ie what was predicted for the future ) to base shows around.
Loved this show since it first aired, binged them a couple weeks ago. They were a little rough in the early days (that's not a complaint I watch classic Doctor Who too), but they feel smoother from series three so it's worth persevering for anyone who isn't sure yet 😁 From what I can tell the computer treats holograms as near to normal as possible, so if you sit around and eat a lot you'll get fatter. I'm assuming it's the same with sleep patterns and alcohol, etc. Although there does sometimes seem to be toggle for relative/realistic.
Megan you will love the answer to how when you recover the episode not going to tell you which episode or series as you skip forward and miss all the other grate episodes along the way
Always a bit of a weird ending that one, in that Lister is kind of relived that.... his son dies? I think the writers admitted it doesn't quite add up, and the wig stuff was added just because there weren't many gags in it. Little fact: this was the fourth one made, but the BBC liked it, so brought it forward in the running order.
@@MeganRuth Oh and by the way in a later episode it is revealed how Lister actually gets two babies but I won't give away any spoilers so watch this space! (no pun intended!)😁😁😁
I've watched 3rd Rock From The Sun. The only joke I remember from it is "incoming message from the big giant head" I think it was an okay show but I feel zero need to rewatch it.
Nothing's better than the other they are both fantastic shows in their own right. Difference is 3rd Rock has american humour and Red Dwarf has british humour no offence to any americans out there but I find British humour funnier sorry.
This is one of my favourite episodes, Chris Barrie is absolutely hilarious in this

The BBC are ridiculous with their copyright claims.
Gallifrey gals found the audio tends to trigger the copyright. They lowered the audio balance & switched the subtitles on.

I cannot wait for you to get to season 2, its one of my favourite seasons snd i think the show really truly picks up from there!!
Boys from the Dwarf, now you've gotta keep going , only another 60-ish episodes to go

The hologram simulation includes the fact that more he exercises he gets a more fit. Funny simulation.
Happy to see you are carrying on with this, it just gets better and better and even tackles a few science and physics phenomenon as the go along.
I'm looking forward to watching more!

I heard red dwarf was pretty popular in Canada. Glad to know you appreciate it

Rimmer's 'body' is a simulation of his actual body if he was still alive, therefore if he was junk food munching coach potato it would make him fat.
Why does he choose to run? Because he's Arnold J Rimmer.
You won't believe where the babies come from! 🤣🤣

Hi Megan. In answer to your question at the 0:52 second mark...Why choose to need to run AT ALL ! 😉😘
😂 fair point!!
hi Megan - did you really just ask '"where do babies come from?" Have you been at the mariujana gin already? 😄
@stevesoutar3405 This is Red Dwarf where very odd things happen. 😁
I did didn’t I? 😂 not yet!
The first series wasn't as good as later series but it's better than I remembered.
A great show!
He doesn't have a physical body. How would he feel his hair?
Indeed! I completely missed that, didn't I? 😅
🤔imagine if I met my future self, I would either ask him jeeze you let yourself go what the fuck or I would say who is that hansome old man.
Where did the babies come from...?
Well, Megan, you better sit down because this might take some time to explain
😂 oh my!
@@MeganRuth Now whilst you might think that was a bit of sarcasm (and you'd be right) this actually pays off in a future series so I won't spoil it

Where do babies come from? How simple do you want this? ;)
@kerethmakura4502 It's not that simple on The Dwarf. 😁😁
Errrrm… so Megan can understand it!

_Is there some sort of break in the space-time continuum?_ 😲You're on episode 2, you have no right to speak like that yet 😄
