The Second Most Underrated Yakuza Game

- Kurohyou 2, the sequel to the best Yakuza PSP Spin-off game ever made. It's an incredibly based game that has everything you could possibly want in a handheld game. Unless what you want is like Crysis 3 on a PSP or something I dunno why you WOULD want that but if you did want that you can't get that.
It also has a co-op/PvP(?) multiplayer mode that I may or may not have forgotten about until I was using my printer to scan the box art of the game and saw it in the manual. The mode lets you create your own character and you can run around fighting dudes as said character, but that's the only mode I can test because I have no one to test the actual multiplayer with lol. You can also do 4 player Mahjong :O woah so exciting.
Also the box came with a map of Kamurocho and Sotenbori that was styled like a little pamphlet map you'd see at a little information booth. I dunno if the first game had that because my box just had the game with it and when I bought it the cashier was like "ふくろごりようですか?" and I shook my head and then he pointed at a picture of a bag and then I pointed at the bag I was already holding and was gonna use and then he was like "ah yes lol" and then I got the game.
Fix for if you get that issue where dudes chase after you and you can't run away:
1. Go to PPSSPP folder
2. memstick\PSP\SYSTEM\ppsspp.ini
3. Scroll down or CTRL + F to ForceMaxEmulatedFPS
4. Change it to I think 20? Maybe 15? Change around if needed
5. Launch emulator and run away from dudes
6. Save ya game, then close the emulator
7. Swap back to 60 and Bob just so happens to be your uncle :)
8. If that didn't work then perhaps try contacting Nagoshi and he'll just send you a cat emoji to make you feel better

Sht joke aside, I love Kurohyou 2 a lot. The custom style is fun to mess around with, the side content is plentiful, and ost is still fire.
(Speaking of ost. I hate how ougon soul was used once in a cut-scene and never again. It's an amazing song!)
That's probably one of their reasons to name those songs the way they are

This game was direct upgrade in everything from first game, plus the new styles and biggest plus was when you imported K1 save file you got access to 2 insanely powerful styles right from the start even on lvl1 (they later got outclassed by *cough* wild dance mastery *cough* ). Shame this game never had continuation where we play as adult Tatsuya.
Even has a better translation. I know, done by fans and is an unfair comparison. Just saying. The first game's translation was unfinished and literally game breaking. While the 2nd has a mostly finished translation
The whole "getting bumped into triggers a fight" was already technically a thing in Y3 and Y4 (you pass right next to them and it triggers a QTE) and it's been implemented proper in Y5 as well (it starts the fight with a different cutscene than the usual fight start)
I'm loving the usage of the Tekken Tag 2 soundtrack vs the usage of Tekken Tag 1 music in the previous vid. Nicely done.
I can't wait for the Kurohyou 1 full English patch to come out so I can finish this masterpiece and then play the 2nd. Tatsuya is such a GOAT protagonist.
I got you G there a English patch for both
IMO Kurohyou 2 is by far the most direct sequel in the series. The two games are far more tied than any of the other games, that only gave a few ties between them
God I just want to get this game localised

I know people say this every single time this game comes up, but damn it really has the hypest final boss theme in the franchise

Well, this is my stop. This series has been great but I'm getting a bit burnt out so I'll probably finish Yakuza 5 in like. A year from now and I'm not risking spoilers so I'm stopping here. Thanks for making these videos, they're seriously great!
Note about bumping in to the yakuza dude:

Imagine making a Kurohyou 2 video and never mentioning the game featuring like 3-4 Shonan no kaze songs that play during some cutscenes like when Ougon Soul played when Tamotsu found his courage to fight an opponent way stronger than him with all his strength and the lyrics being something like "stand up, get up run until you collapse" or when "M" is dying and Tomoyo plays a song about friendship and the lyrics being "don't lose my friend wait for me" or something or how could we forget born to be wild? The picks are something else it's like Shonan no kaze made these songs specifically for these particular cutscenes but they didn't there was just a dev who was a huge fan of them and knew the right songs
They gotta make a kurohyou kiwami
no they don't considering how they treated ishin
They should just copy paste Nishki's face onto Tatsuya

Ten years in the joint?
Only real downside I had with this game is that the problem you touched on in the first game's video with all the bosses feeling like weekly shonen anime villains who just get completely thrown out and forgotten after you beat, which I sorta think is even worse in this game due to how Tatsuya's character is set-in-stone from all his development, so he doesn't really "play off" any of the villains or have anything to learn from them like in first game. Don't get me wrong, I *do* think Tatsuya keeping all his character development was the right call to prevent falling into that same trap that quite a few of the mainline games fall into, but I also feel like it *kinda* resulted in us getting a weaker boss roster overall this time around.
As it stands, the only villains in this game that I feel made an impact in this game were:
-Kinjo, for being pretty entertaining, having my favorite piece of the OST with Struggle Gold Castle, and for a certain VERY villainous act that I won't spoil, but if ya know ya know
-Akita, for actually having a consistent presence throughout the game as the head of Ashura (the rival faction)
-The final boss, who I won't say anything about to avoid spoilers...but trust me he's an amazing final boss, especially in comparison to the first game's final boss
The best part of this game is the cat café where cats will swarm Testuya and sit on his head, shoulders, legs...
I loved this game, but it was probably one of the hardest games in the series, specially at the beginning.
DONNA MON DA KONNA MON JA NEE
IKUZO-KORA
Both Kurohyou games I guess, Tatsuya uses both brawler and boxer canonically because of cutscenes and the stories from both games. Also got a PSVita just to play these 2 games because I want to try out while remembering that it has the Nintendo 3DS type battery unless playing while charging.
Your battery must be bad, replace it and you’ll be able to play for hours and hours (or emulate on pc haha)
Your battery must be bad, replace it and you’ll be able to play for hours and hours (or emulate on pc haha)
Tbh the battery's aight right now as I reply here and I do emulate both PC and mobile
Really hoping we get these games ported to modern consoles someday
I really like how the bosses were integrated into the story in this game compared to the first, since you usually spend the entire chapter figuring out their little scheme and they are a major dick to you the entire chapter, so its satisfying to be able to beat the shit out of them at the end of it
Don't know why, but the one thing I truly remember about this game is the godawful starter stage stamina. Not even Taizan style made things more tolerable on that front, it's "suffer roughly to level 15" and then it, thankfully, gets better.
But, other than that, I still enjoyed it for the most part.
Thank goodness for the infinite stamina perk you get
Takes a bit of equip space but it's worth it, makes most of the cooler styles usable
@@keifujitora6587 It takes quite a bit of time to get it though, IIRC. Wasn't it supposed to be given to you upon upgrading Extreme Awakening? I mean, that's the style with the aforementioned perk.
@@keifujitora6587I don't think stamina becomes a problem after a little while though? I haven't gotten any stamina problems after I've reached halfway through the game
Your knife feels good
So...was it ever explained why Tatsuya looks so much like Nishiki?
I would love to see these games in the dragon engine. Also Dead souls.
at 10:09 you mention playing the game on a PS Vita.
Curious about this, is this playing on a PSP Emulator on the Vita, or is there a native way to play PSP games on a Vita?
You can play PSP games on the Vita, but only digitally. I'm sure there's some way to get the iso from the PSP discs so you can chuck them on your Vita to play them, but because the online PSP store is gone and not everyone has a physical copy lying around the easiest thing is probably just homebrew your vita and use the Adrenaline PSP emulator. So yes it is possible to play PSP games natively on a Vita, but I just played Kurohyou 2 on a PSP emulator on the Vita
Like a Black Panteru 2 Gaiden

ikuzo kora
Btw, decrease frame limit in kurohyou 2 very important for about 2 times in story mode
There's also an substory that contains an chase section and you also need to decrease fps
Gang Wars substory was a hell in this game
seeing all the gang leaders in the previous game team up was heat though
It was long as hell, even when I had every extreme style maxed
@@Ihateyoutubeupdates well the substory is pretty much a second campaign for the game so it is very dialogue heavy. I found it enjoyable but to each their own
@@thatoneguy2023I liked the gang substories in a way because it reminds me of how yakuza 1 had you fight gangs. It’s like dealing with a whole nother world.

While I don't see this game ever getting localized
I don't see a reason why Japan can't get these games on PS+'s Classic Catalogue. We also have trophies on a few of the PSP titles like Locco Rocco.... So Japan has a lot of potential to see these games re-released
Then us in the west can just change region and download them....and then I guess learn Japanese too
tournaments in krh2 were easier than 1 but GOD DAMN were they fun with the improved (in my opinion) gameplay
its so sad that rgg studios cant see the potential localizing this game has - there are aplenty fighting game otaku around the world, since the story is separate from mainline yakuza you dont need previous knowledge of the lore, and if they fall in love with the world, they could reach for other yakuza games.
Maybe it's some sort of an issue with synsophia? they were kinda dormant for a while, so maybe some shit happened behind the scenes
i just think that its weird that money loving sega wouldnt pump out khy to the west when they sent off goddam Dead Souls.
Thankfully, it's already been localized...by fans
I just wish the yakuza dudes you randomly bump into didnt use the extreme styles
God i wanna play black panther so bad but only have a Jailbroken Vita running Henkaku

this is the 4th time yakuza has amazed me with the spinoffs, this time going all in on the psp after it was already out of place

Because "portable console" doesn't exist now. Everything is either pc, game centered pc that goes to the living room, or slightly more compact pc that goes in the bag.
