    Hello Captain and nice idea. I actually watched the Florida video before this one and it worked for you. I have a Coleman XTreme cooler with D rings, turnbuckles and I added a 3 pole rod holder to it. I haven't needed to carry fuel since I travel the CT River and Long Island Sound. Plenty of palce to fuel and the 18.5 tank is sufficient. I'll keep an eye out for that Bahama crossing trip. Count me in!

      That's one thing that I like about the FX Cruisers. They have a nice large tank that gives you nice range. Even the SVHO can go a long way on a tank as long as you are not at full throttle!!

    I have a 2023 RXTX 300 and made one out of an old milk crate I had. I mounted 1 1/2" aluminum 90 degree angle ( $19.55 ) , Lin Q Mount Kit ( $30.40 ) and some stainless steel nuts and bolts. Fits perfect on the back of my ski, no need for bungees to hold crate in place. I've been in the ocean in 2' - 3' chop and took a pounding and it worked great. I can carry 5 extra gals of fuel (two 2 1/2 gal. fuel cans) or a cooler. So for $50.00 it works for me.

Hey you can also put a valve like that on the grate water intake hose so that you can tow the pwc faster than 5mph. Without the valve the manual states that water can be forced up into the engine. Hello there great info ,and how to do it on the cheap.Appreciate it. I have a few questions, The gas cans look like they are scepter 20L, I have just ordered two of them. They are self-ventilating at the spout,so they state ,is this for a quicker pour flow rate? Are they self-ventilating,if the spout is closed off, I am thinking about them expanding in the sun etc. Do you always leave the spouts on them ready to use,if you put the spouts inside the tank,are they still able to vent, somehow. Thankyou

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, the ones I have are not self ventilating. I normally don't leave the spout up when riding. I just happened to have it that way when I took the picture. But they are the scepter 5 gal size.

    • @swedishkev
      @swedishkev 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheShipsLogg I think though ,when they say self-ventilating, it is only in the spout when pouring. Your spout is self-ventilating when it pours I think. How do your cans do on hot days in the sun. There is no actual vent hole , perhaps they vent when spout is inserted in the can ,in the cap ? I realize if they are very full with gas, they can not expand, like if they were only half full.

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has held up pretty well. I don't use it every time I ride though. Only when I need to take extra fuel or supplies that will not fit in the ski's forward compartment. To be fair, I do admit that it is not as durable as some of those high priced models and I don't think you should expect it to be. I plan on doing a Bimini trip in mid 2022 and I probably will spend the cash on one of those units before doing so. The one I did the video on works really well for rivers and lakes (although I did test it in the ocean as well). Before doing a trip to the Bahamas though, I do think I will invest in a purpose built unit. Also, It has not scratched any area of my ski either. Hope this helps.

    Can you show how to strap it on and does it block the water thing in the back?

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ran a bungee from each side of the crate to the two metal loops on the back of the Waverunner. I also ran a bungee from the front of the crate to the metal loop on the back of the ski just below the seat. The key is to make sure everything is nice and tight because you don't want it bouncing around. I also used bungees to hold the gas cans in the crate. It does block the water spout but I had already installed a valve to turn the spout on and off whenever I want anyway. I also made a vide on that it you want to see it. It's called "Make your Waverunner Piss on Demand". Good luck!

    What did you do with the water sprayer?
    Did the outlet fall underneath the crate?

      I actually installed a valve so I can turn it on and off. Check out the video Inside on it. Very easy.

    I apologize I didn't see the link to Amazon for the crate. Is there a brand name you purchased? Also are your gas cans the sure cans? I was just wondering for fit. Thanks!

      The gas cans I have are Scepter made by American but I am sure there are others that will fit as well. I don’t understand why Yamaha hasn’t come up with a system like sea doo that’s already built into your existing deck. These skis are 20k and they expect you to buy a pos rec deck that’s blown plastic for a 1000 bucks.

      @@msanc315 you are definitely not the only one asking that question. I can't figure it out either.

    I got 2 of those custom racks for my new Seadoos. They’re expensive, that’s for sure. But they look much better than the plastic crate, and far more robust. So if aesthetics are important to you, and you have the money, then I highly recommend the more expensive option.
    Plus they are customizable with all sorts of cool attachments such as umbrella holders, cup holders, anchor racks, even reboarding handles.

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree that the custom racks are better looking and if you are a die hard rider, there is no doubt that it is the better option. There are a lot of people that just don't fit into that category though. If you only do a ride where you need to carry a cooler or extra gas once a year then it does not make much sense to spend that much money on an expensive rack.

    I’ll be honest, I bought the Linq install kit for $63. Easy install. Then I looked at videos for these racks and saw prices of $500 got the non Seadoo metal crates to hold 2 five gallon fuel cans. I did order the Fuel caddy for $190 and the $220 small cooler. Looking at the 41 liter fry bag. Didn’t want to spend this money but figured if I am on rough water etc did not want to look back and find all ,y stuff had fallen off. But having done this, I will probably try your method too, although I’m seriously thinking of figuring out how these things clip onto the Linq brackets and having something made up and sell for cost to fellow PWC riders since feel we are all getting ripped off by the prices I see. This isn’t rocket science. Btw I have. 2016 Rxpx300 supercharged.
    Thinking of doing a trip to Bimini from ft lauderdale. Anyone interested in going let me know.

      That's a good idea. We are also hoping to do a Bimini trip some time early next year. Definitely looking forward to it.

      Hi Captain the manufacturer that makes those ridiculous expensive cages are ready hating you right about now. I'm surprised that they didn't make you take the video off TH-cam. This will cost them to lose alot of money. That was an awesome video. I'm ordering 2 on Amazon now. Sir. How long will it take to ride from Florido to the Bahamas. I live in Birmingham Alabama. I think I may want to make that trip. Do you have a specific date in June. Do you plan to spend the night in the Bahamas.

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i definitely would not put it up against the $400 purpose made crates. The point is that there is an alternative if you don't want to spend that kind of money just to make a simple run down river with a few extra items aboard.

      You can use 1 inch wide velcro straps to wrap around each corner. Will be plenty strong then.
