    How to Train your Dragon was ALSO originally a book series and it’s VERY different from its movie counterpart. So it actually made sense that the person who made HTTYD took another beloved book series and absolutely cooked. Again.

    • @Nguyen763_Zack
      @Nguyen763_Zack หลายเดือนก่อน +99

      I feel like Dreamwork keep Sander as their clutch card. HTTYD was basically Dreamwork's renaissance from the direction of parodies and making funs of fantastical elements similar to Disney, and The wild robot is also a good cover piece after some recent flops from Dreamwork.

    • @punctuationstation
      @punctuationstation หลายเดือนก่อน +36

      Sort of off-topic but dear god I wish they were more true to the book series. Love love love those books. Though I understand why they had to condense some stuff and make it more appealing to kids. HTTYD is a great movie but in my mind it's like fanfiction of the books rather than an adaptation.

    • @cursivebobcat8964
      @cursivebobcat8964 หลายเดือนก่อน +20

      The books were amazing, while I understand why they didn’t make a direct adaptation (the series is ten books long and wild), and I cherish the series we got, I still wonder what a direct book httyd adaptation would look like

    • @KracklinDark
      @KracklinDark หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      @@cursivebobcat8964 Most of the early HTTYD books reset their setting to a status-quo to recycle Hiccups character arc. A direct 1-to-1 adaptation would probably be terrible as a film series.

      @@cursivebobcat8964 When they announced the live action HTTYD, that's what I thought it was going to be, a more book accurate adaptation. Unfortunately it looks like it's just going to be an inferior version of the animated film.

    The dialogue in this movie is kind of unique since it started out as (kind-of) a movie with less dialogue until the part when Roz breaks down the language barrier by the analyzing the animal language and translating them. It was a satisfying way to justify the presence of talking animals in an animated movie. Usually animated movies are dismissive of the talking animal tropes, treating them like jokes and props with less purpose or reason, but this one did something uniquely satisfying and engaging about it.
    I can’t also forget the development of the relationships between the characters in this movie, which is somewhat what made The Bad Guys so appealing to some people.

    • @foursidekm

    • @crysthemist
      @crysthemist 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +16

      Yeah there’s a detail I noticed in the end with the language barrier. In the ship when villain robot is talking to Roz, Bright Bill asks what she’s saying.
      Villain robot wouldn’t know animal speak, only Roz knows that! So villain robot was probably using English. Such a good detail to keep consistent that would be so easy to forget otherwise.

    • @Norfirio
      @Norfirio 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

      This is all canon in the book. The animals understand Roz and she them, but the other robots cannot talk with the animals and vice-versa. During the final conflict it is described as the other robots hearing Roz making animal noises.

    I watched this movie with my mom and she was absolutely bawling at the montage scene where Roz sacrifices everything she possibly can to teach BrightBill how to fly. This movie absolutely screams parenting and it might be one of the best animated films about raising a kid, specifically related to mothers. After the movie was done, my mom said that there is no greater pain in life than being a mother… from carrying a child for 9 months… to giving birth… and eventually raising them.
    Especially after she lost her own mother earlier this year… you never know how special something truly is until its gone. And while the father is equally as important… its no secret that a mother is the most important parental figure you could ever ask for. The Wild Robot absolutely nails that.

      If there were going to be two movies they should have spread the movie out a bit. Maybe have the greenhouse escape be the climax of the first movie and then introduce Vontra as the villain for the second instead of shoving her in at the last 20 minutes. She's an interesting villain but severely underused.
      Still, I adore this movie. It's an easy 9.5/10 for me; but it might have been even better if it were two separate movies with much better pacing. Specially with the things they apparently removed from the books.
