Planning our Trans-Siberian Railway adventure wasn't easy! We had a ton of questions, and the internet had very few answers! So to help out our fellow travelers who might be interested in booking a trip of their own, we've put together the Ultimate Guide to Riding the Trans-Siberian. This guide will walk you through all of the steps from securing your visa to planning your route and booking your tickets. Read it here karaandnate.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-riding-the-trans-siberian-railway/
Best taste on any meat-fish-sausages in Russia for sure i lived there, we feed cows and pigs with a mix kind a salad of potato-carrots and other vegetables, and in usa everything grow to fast on none natural way with not fully natural corn by the way corn was grown not natural also to fast plus they add a little of fake maybe a soy meat to a beef and pork in all burger fast food stops and else and hot dogs, i noticed that when i been in usa the different taste of meat :) Even vegetables in Russia taste real and way better compare to usa start with tomatoes and feel the smell and taste difference but make sure to check all who sell never buy from a first person :)
You two look like such kind people. I appreciate how much you go to all these beautiful and diverse places, yet never become one of those tourists who expect everyone to be able to speak English for you, or be entitled, and cater to you. That shows such great character. Curious, kind, genuine, and humble. I pray for many more years of happiness and adventure for you two. Ameen.
I really enjoy your vlogs because you seem to genuinely enjoy your travel experiences without being judgmental. What a great store of memories you are building!
It is insanely helpful to learn the Cyrillic alphabet before venturing off to Russia. It only takes a couple hours at most to remember everything, and bringing a phrase book really helps
I learned it on the way to my aunt's house after getting off of a plane in Ohio. Took probably 30 minutes at most to learn it and a day of studying to really memorize it. It's really not that hard at all. It's actually really pretty easy.
True, and one is surprised by how many words in Cyrillic when sounded out turn into something recognizable. For example, the Russian word for restaurant (Ресторан) is pronounced res-tau-ran and the word for flight attendant (стюардесса) is pronounced stew-ar-dess.
You two are so cute in like the least condescending way possible. You make me smile and laugh constantly when I watch your videos. So glad you popped up on my recommended list 😄
I've subscribed to you a while ago but never got the chance to properly watch your videos. Today I did and I'm so glad I've stumbled on you two. I'm really enjoying your videos and right now I'm Bing watching this playlist. Great job.
Food tour days are my favorites-especially when you put together one yourself. Loved it. The expression on Kara's face as she tried the smoked fish? Priceless. Ps. That church you went by was beautiful but I kept yelling at the screen 'Go inside!'
Dear friends, many thanks for very interesting videos You are doing a very important job. It is very pleasant to travel with you around the world. I wish you good luck and a lot of health and money for further travels.
Really enjoying your videos, guys. Glad you like Russia. I'm Russian myself, living overseas. Excited that you're going to Vladivostok. That's where I from :) All the best!
Hey Danil Bik. bratan. Whitch is the best train number from Vlad to Mosk. Playing with the idea of doing the trip in the harshest time of winter. But there are good and not so good trains as what I read.
Hi Kara and Nate, I picked this video to comment on but my comment covers all your videos, you are both an absolute breath of fresh air, I am loving your vlogs and I just wish each one was an hour long. I generally only watch trip reports but you have been glued to all your videos. I am from N.Ireland and I wanted to let you know your world famous now. Totally enjoying all your train journeys and it's clear you are both that we'd all love to share a carriage with. Thank you so much for everything.
Thank you guys, for such an amazing tour. It indeed helps to feel the atmosphere not being there. Little comment on smoked fish: It is supposed to be eaten at home, you just cut it into pieces and then eat :).
It is funny you guys keep calling the alphabets acrylic, while showing that you guys definitely not over preparing yourself for the trip. A lot of fun! Kudos!
Another Amazing vlog..one of the finest channels I have come across on TH-cam guys.. and thanks for showing little bit of Irkuts as I would be there next year with Trans Mongolian railway.
Please come to the south Russia in the summer! I go there every year from Canada and it's just so gorgeous and incredible. It really is the gold of Russia. Mountains, lakes, incredible culture and food, you'll love it. And it would be really nice to meet you, if you come to Kabardina -Balkaria or somewhere near, I'll send you a list of places you must visit and how to avoid scammers.
this is very informative for those of us who have little knowledge of Russia /Siberia/Mongolia....I think this trip showed that you can rough it....even if first class on train you did I think rough it more than usual....very interesting stuff...thanks
One of your best videos! Love the casual strolls where you’re looking for food to try. I love it when you post how much you have paid. Kara, lol at the myeah! Kinda like meh :-). Keep at it guys. You brighten my days.
Thank you for portraying out culture and daily life so beautifully and with grace! Also yeah you’re supposed to buy something after sampling at the market place otherwise it’s kind of rude so you did great!
I had a dumpling and there was juice in it so it all fell out, then I found this vlog and it made me want a dumpling and eat it properly! It did so now I know how to eat them ❤️
To the smoked fish you shoud at least add hot boiled (peeled before boiling) potatoes sprinkled with finely chopped green dill or use the fish as a great snak to any genuine local beer. Both variants are fantastic.
You peeps are inspirational, Can't believe I have only just found you.. Makes you realise how amazing travelling the world is.... Keep the VLOG up.. safe Travels - We are off to Cape Town, gonna do that Lions head climb..
There is wet smoking fish, and dry smoking fish. What you ate is dry smoking. It brings out all the oils out of the fish. Like Kara said, it won't even hardly taste like fish.
Love Irkutsk, been there once, best smoked omul to have is in Listvyanka , straight from the local smokers next to the lake baikal shores.Listvyanka is just one hour drive from irkutsk. Arshan village in republic of Buryatia is also worth visiting, it is a three hour bus ride from Irkutsk.
Im Scandinavian and grew up on smoked eel, smoked North Sea fish and smoked cheese and cottage cheese. I still LOVE my Swedish "Flatbröd" with cottage cheese and rye bread with smoked eel or smoked cream cheese. I know we found out to smoke our fish and cheese ourselves but I do wonder if we got the idea for cottage cheese from the Russians ... Russian cuisine is divine, hearty, solid, tasty, satisfying and nourishing food and should get the attention that the French or Italian cuisine gets.
Omul is reeeeally good! You guys are lucky to try it, cuz not even many people in Russia outside of Siberia tried it. And also as for food, there is not only Mongolian influence, but also Buryat, because the Republic of Buryatia is close (Ulan-Ude is its capital)
You know there's an app that you can write a question in English and it will translate it to Russian and then you just show them you're phone!! And then they can type the answer in Russian and it will translate it back to English! Or what ever language you want!!! It's pretty handy have used it many times and works fairly well!!
Hello guys. I like your blog. Please, come to Pamirs, Tajikistan. There is not so good oportunity, but in Pamirs you will find much more interesting. So unusual food, high mounteens, big lakes, fantastic nature and nice people. Many of my europeans friends were so happy , when the first time they come to Pamirs. We happy to see you here.
smoked fish is freaking good! Dry fish and pickled fish...Childhood, I guess! :) P.s. I love kvas, cause when I was little we had those on the streets during warm days. I always got it and my grandpa got beer! Wasn't in Russia but same thing.
Nate and Kara, I have subscribed to your chanel a while back, when you were filming a food tour in Holland. Your videos have inspired me to open up a Dutch fast food place here in Moscow. I typically dont comment on the videos, but its great to see you here in Moscow. Thank you for your chanel and please come visit us again! Tim the Russian
Usually customers are allowed to try food on such markets, you could try all the different cheese for example, you don't have to buy anything if you didn't like the taste, it's okay. :)
Ahhh guys !! I usually wait with watching so I can save them up and binge watch them at once. But this trip is sooo good lol, and now I am left sad everyday if I finish a video or there is no new video haha. Torture !! Looks like an amazing trip tho :-)
those buckets of cheese are a russian cream cheese / curd and its used to make paskha - usually with some sultanas but i prefer roasted almond slices. and eaten on easter after lent
Seemed like Kara tried the belly of the fish, which is usually super oily and super "fishy", it tastes almost like like smoked fish oil capsules to me. I prefer the top spine section.
They dicide to eat off in Irkuts after a hungry train with Doshirak junk food =)))) The first dish is called "Манты" (read like similar to "mun tea") and it should be eaten with a fork =))
Karas face after trying the smoked fish had me laughing! She usually loves everything. I dont know, i wish i could try things like you guys but i just can't😆😆😆 Im too nervous!....Have you guys always been like that trying everything or only since you started traveling?
I KNOW THIS IS VERY OFF TOPIC BUT IN THE FURST CLIP OF THE SECOND RESTURANT TWENTY ONE PILOTS WAS PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND IN ENGLISH AND IT MAKES ME HAPPY THAT TWENTY ONE PILOTS IS IN RUSSIA

My wife is Russian. Her favorite "dessert" is dried fish and beer. Mine is Ice Cream.
your wife should tell you that having vobla (dries fish) with beer and without vodka - like wasting your money...
I dunno why americans dislike it. Smoked or dried fish is very good snack. (from Russia)
Rick Harms i love dried Fish, smoked fish and also Ice cream. But not together!!!!!
Dried fish is basically our version of beef jerky.
LOL my fiance is Russian, and he bemoans the fact that I don't like his super fishy-fish
You two look like such kind people. Yes that is so true yall are funny humble and not rude
the song in 4:55 !! you know its a good restaurant 😂😂😂😂😂
Soo nice to see people genuinely enjoy our culture and explore the beauties that Russia has to offer. Warms my cold Russian heart
yea really nice i mean like it is just amazing but one thing is i would defiantly go to the red square and maybe the river
I really enjoy your vlogs because you seem to genuinely enjoy your travel experiences without being judgmental. What a great store of memories you are building!

Ha. The look on Kara's face when she ate the fish was priceless. You two are awesome.
I've subscribed to you a while ago but never got the chance to properly watch your videos. Today I did and I'm so glad I've stumbled on you two. I'm really enjoying your videos and right now I'm Bing watching this playlist. Great job.
Oh siberian food is sooooo good. I am really in Love with that smoked fish 😄

Food tour days are my favorites-especially when you put together one yourself. Loved it. The expression on Kara's face as she tried the smoked fish? Priceless.
Ps. That church you went by was beautiful but I kept yelling at the screen 'Go inside!'
+Leslie Mosier aww I'm so glad you enjoy our made up tours!! We sure do enjoy doing them so it's a win-win 😁 The church was locked!!!
+Marilyn C hahaha I'm convinced we would have gotten the ice cream either way 👍🏻🙃
Baikal omul is one of my favorite dishes! Love cold smoked fish and omul suits perfectly.
I love how Nate got hooked on kvas 🤣🤣🤣
Рональдо по копченной рыбке прикалывается!
The fact at 4:48 in the video tress from Twenty one pilots is on 😀😀
Dear friends, many thanks for very interesting videos
You are doing a very important job. It is very pleasant to travel with you around the world. I wish you good luck and a lot of health and money for further travels.
+Иван Храбров thank you 💜
Great job guys.:) Getting around with such a hug language barrier is hard but you made it look seamless. Way to put yourself out there.:)
+WΔY ΔWΔY Thanks sista! We'll do about anything for good food! ;)
hug? I know it means huge but you can edit it.
sorry if I am being mean
They have each other and a clear motivation for food.

10:32 I love that Nate speaks Russian and the Russian woman answers in English..
Ooh, that tsuivan (цуйван) looks good even my real Mongolian standard.
Hi Kara and Nate, I picked this video to comment on but my comment covers all your videos, you are both an absolute breath of fresh air, I am loving your vlogs and I just wish each one was an hour long. Having the list gives a starting point. Smart idea. Doesnt how many you do.
Thank you guys, for such an amazing tour. It indeed helps to feel the atmosphere not being there. Little comment on smoked fish: It is supposed to be eaten at home, you just cut it into pieces and then eat :).

Привет из Иркутска!!!
Классное видео!!!
Вы супер!!! )))
this becomes more and more enjoyable ... that part of the world has their own charm.
The alphabet is Cyrillic! not Acrylic (paint) named after St Cyril.
Too funny...!!!
I hope you know that Cyril (Кирилл) is pronounced "key🗝-rill" in Russian. So maybe acrylic is actually closer than you'd expect
Exactly
Cyrillic (saint) not acrylic (paint)!
Hehe
Another Amazing vlog..one of the finest channels I have come across on TH-cam guys.. and thanks for showing little bit of Irkuts as I would be there next year with Trans Mongolian railway.
+Swanand Soman thanks! Have fun!! 😁
Like your way of doing self food tour by noting down food wish list and then visit different places to find them
Please come to the south Russia in the summer!
This is by far my favorite travel experience on your channel ❤
Not sure why, but to my eye, the colors in this video have been very vibrant and beautiful. Well done.
I love that you two are enthusiastic and adventurous eaters!!
this is very informative for those of us who have little knowledge of Russia /Siberia/Mongolia....I think this trip showed that you can rough it....even if first class on train you did I think rough it more than usual....very interesting stuff...thanks

I'm glad you like kvass. I love it! The best drink on a hot summer day. The raisins give it its sweetness.
Kara made me lol, watching her eat that fish. Food market looked incredible, though.

As it turns out we (Russian) have much in common with the Scandinavians! That's great! ))))
4:48 TREES IS PLAYING LMAOO
I just laughed when Kara was demanding the reward after eating the fish. I guess she deserved it. :)
+Magnus Bernet he knows he wanted it as badly as I did!! 😂
Omul is reeeeally good! You guys are lucky to try it, cuz not even many people in Russia outside of Siberia tried it. And also as for food, there is not only Mongolian influence, but also Buryat, because the Republic of Buryatia is close (Ulan-Ude is its capital)
I love kvas! The ones from the tap are so much better than the bottled ones, but both are still good. A must have when I visit Russia each time.
Greetings from Irkutsk! ;)
I always find the markets in other countries fascinating when you show them! I would want to try all the fruits
You know there's an app that you can write a question in English and it will translate it to Russian and then you just show them you're phone!! "Омуль" is a fatty fish unique to Lake Baikal, maybe in the mackerel family, if I remember correctly...anyone else know? It's fun watching two young Americans trying all of that different food, particularly something uniquely Russian like that. Gotta love Kara's reaction!
